    My grandmother used to play this on her old giant record Wi Fi player in the 70s. We used to laugh so hard. I miss those times. RIP Grandmom. You are missed. That generation who fought WW II and who supported Civil Rights.

    Charlie was like most of us typical southern gentleman, we're going to tell you how we honestly feel and let you deal with your own feelings about it but you will know where we stand on things . RIP my brother, you spoke for so many of us . He often went off script in his live version's like Hank Williams Jr. And just had fun with the crowd.

    • @GoMeditate
      @GoMeditate Год назад +1

      Absolutely right, brother! We true Southern gentlemen will treat you with the utmost respect and courtesy unless given reason to do otherwise. We will also tell you the unvarnished truth, but never with malice. We're taught from birth to tell the truth, to be kind and generous, to sacrifice for others, and to stand up for God and country. Charlie embodied the absolute best of us. RIP to the greatest.

    This is true country, tell a story get people remembering how it was back home and why you left. The ones that stayed is who you wrote the songs about the ones that stayed wrote the songs that were sad as you've reviewed. Country is story telling about what you see around you.

    i didn't read all the comments,so sorry if someone else already said this. In the original version he said "pulling Wallace stickers off the bumper of cars and he voted for George McGovern for president." He ran in 1972. And yes he was one of the all time bests at story telling songs.Because of that you didn't have to like the genre to like his songs.

    In 1926, a southern comedian named Chris Bouchillon (or Bouchillion) recorded "The Talking Blues"
    It's a bluegrass/hillbilly/country-folk style. The speaking part is a strict rhythm , and there ain't necessarily a real melody line (similar to Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" which might be the first music video)
