- Every hunt is precious for the predator. We must understand and respect it by not disturbing the cycle.
Rat snakes form a crucial part of a king cobra's diet. Hunting one may take a week or more for a king cobra, but once hunted, it satiates the king's hunger for a long time.
Rat snakes come after rats, and rats are abundant where people live. This king cobra had followed the rat snake and bit it.
However, the movement and commotion by people around the hunting scene allowed the rat snake an opportune moment to escape the king's grip. But, it was too late as the world's longest venomous snake had already sunk in its fangs and injected venom. It was only a matter of time before the rat snake would die and the king would have its meal.
We were called in to rescue the snake as it was close to a house. When we arrived, we watched the envenomated rat snake desperately attempting to escape, but it could not move very far. It lay battling its breath near a tree trunk.
The king cobra, in the meantime, climbed up the same tree and sat in wait. Dusk was setting in. Being a diurnal snake, once dark, the king cobra may not be able to see well.
After two hours, when people moved away and stood in their homes in wait, and the place became still, the king descended from the trunk and claimed its meal.
It was rewarding to watch this scene unfold before us and to see the people tolerant of leaving the snake with its meal to rest for the night on the same tree. By morning, it was gone, and people got back to work. Life moves on.

Absolutley, that is the point. If you notice many people use very dangerously sounding music to make it look interesting but it gives negative impression which is mostly fear. These behaviors are interesting to watch.
