Tip to make those precise cuts easier: glue first, cut after. Also, use an X-Acto knife, mate! it makes everything so much easier, especially if you have a full set of blades.

i wish microsoft added a feature where you can change the colour of the middle thing on the xbox and you could have it be even changing colours so its easier to have a different colour instead of white and wont risk any damage to anything

Should be a very easy thing to do on their side, a simple RGB LED and some additional software.

Me too, has to change out the joystick inside the nintendo switch joycon. Smallest fiddliest thing I've ever done. When you have sausages for fingers its so easy to squish everything
You could also uses some clear tape and a green sharpie and just stick it on the LED on the circuit board. So it’s not permanent like the glue and easy swappable to other colors. :D

Your lack of nomenclature says that you didn't start out as a tech, but became that way over time and I applaud you for your incredible knowledge. That being said, you definitely need a plastic spudger if you're going to be doing stuff like this.

What happens if say my controller overheats of something idk. Would the woolies bag bit have a risk of catching fire? Might be a dumb question lol.
No dumb questions. 😁 It wont cause anything to overheat, just make sure you dont damage anything and reassemble it correctly and you will be fine

This is the most helpful tutorial I've seen on this have changed all of my controller lights this way and honestly be very carful of the buttons they fall out easily i lost one and spent 2 hours looking for it lol
i love how people doing tutorials like this say its super super easy, then they are like, *so you wanna take a screwdriver to the motherboard and starting taking apart everything really carefully* XD
I promise you... It is way easier than you think. Like, do you drive a car? When you were younger before you ever drove it was really intimidating. You got this bro.
They should give you a option to change the light on your controller and xbox, i mean if they can make a controller that glows up then they can definitely do that

Fair warning as someone who modded their controller like this:
Some kits will have stickers that will not give you the shade of color intended, which is usually caused by the button’s opacity or the sticker. Some green stickers will make the button look aquamarine once everything is done, and other colors could look the same.
You never know, so be careful before making a mistake that’ll be a bitch to fix.

Just for everyone else finding this out, here's a word of warning
This video is pretty good at not telling you that you'll have to tear open your controller and void your warranty.
It is not as easy as shown on the screen here

Yeah they should make a special controller that has like different colored leds in it and also the whole controller could be easily customizable with you being able to take off the sides of the controller easily and being able to replace them with different colored sides and just being able to make a custom controller

Wow this video doesn't only help u wit green light but helped me learn how to take it apart better
I did something similar.
I used alcohol ink directly onto the LED, let it dry completely before applying a second drop, let it dry and you can apply more if you wish.
The big thing is using a cotton swab to clean the area of any spills or mess.
I used Watermelon red ink, it's been few months and it's still a deep red color.

Just did this to my controller using homemade alcohol ink (isopropyl alcohol + sharpie) and it looks sweet! Thanks for the suggestion. I imagine changing the colour is as easy as wiping old ink off with clean IPA and repeat process with different colour if I get bored of the green I went for.
It's so simple just the little plastic wrapper part but it makes the controller way cooler and costumized

How can you make the face buttons, specifically that X button, not stick of pressed rapidly? The Switch Pro controller buttons are the only ones any manufacturer should employ.

It's a shame you can't just do this normally in the controller settings. The closest thing to this is the light brightness thing they added not too long ago.
Oh snap I didn't realize there was a light brightness setting for the LED
Lol I got the color because the LED is always so bright when I'm on my Xbox at night (I also have sun damaged eyes)

will the controller still work if you remove the motor that's responsible for vibrating? or does it detect that some part is missing and just throws errors internally
Works fine, weighs less and saves power. I do it with my own controllers if I ever open them up as I always have vibration disabled anyway
Ooooorrr put a transparent or translucent I guess green sticker over the lights and boom you get nearly the same effect without the failed warranty-removing and controller-destroying process!
10/10 would recommend to at least slightly experienced people

Love the tutorial but can you do videos where you put it back together I struggled profusely when cleaning my Xbox One s and afraid to struggle with the controller too
i did this with an actual kit with different colored stickers and watching this reminded me of when one of the little cable coil things came of and i needed to transplant my controller motherboard from my one that came with the xbox to my custom controller
I won't bash you for not knowing the names of the PCB but what I will say is that from the comments a lot of people here don't seem to have a good understanding of how it works. I routinely take my consoles and controllers apart for cleaning and I would recommend only doing so If you are 100% comfortable with the fact you might brake something and of course it voids any warranty you may still have.

You can change the light color on the elite 2 controller in steam settings
I was just thinking what if you take off the front panel the just put a green piece of paper the then boom or does that not work

One way you can do it if you cant find the right kind if plastic is by getting a sharpie and clear tape then do 2 to 3 layers of tape colored. Not always the best turn out but something I've done in the past

Hey, please help me I’ve got an Xbox series X and the A button has gone in and I can’t press it anymore
I don't play Xbox but I do electronics so you can try this
Open it and make sure that the key cap (Basically the plastic part you press on ) is aligned with the button;
The button should be a rubber piece that can be pressed down and springs back up, make sure that this is aligned, there should be a metal pad under it, or something on the circuit board, although don't stress if it's not there. This needs to have good contact with the rubber button
Basically, make sure it's all aligned, the plastic keycap may have gone to the side of the rubber button

The side panels of the controller doesn’t avoid the warranty because i took the right one off when my right trigger got sticky and the little square foam or whatever that is under the trigger to make the triggers quieter broke so I sent it in on my warranty and got a new controller so

I recommend anyone who wants to do stuff like this... Atleast take it apart first. If youre still not comfortable when you get to the point of removing the green board then dont. But opening up a controller isnt as bad as we think it is.

The elite series 2 is a nightmare to work on. You have to get rid of glue and other things

You can change the Elite Series 2 led without any mods, you just gotta connect your controller to your PC
Can't give you more info about this because I don't own one but you should do some research on your own
When I saw this video I thought it was very cool but just a week ago I follow another dudes tutorial and how to clean your Xbox One and me and my dad tried to fix the USB port and I think you know it is going my dad tried to put the flat bit of the Xbox One back on and he snapped a button off so we had to get it repaired and now I can't play the Xbox for two weeks when I saw this video I was thought it was very cool but when I saw him take the motherboard apart as like nope I am doing this because I probably not have a controller to play with next but yeah I love your videos keep going and yeah

Harder way to do this
You'll need:
A color of your choice led of 3v
The tools from this video (dont be stupid on this)
a microsolder gun
And a desoldering pump
How to:
Follow the steps until 3:41
Find the led
Once once you find it remove it with the desoldering pump
And finally solder your new led
