These cats were way ahead of their time. Their ensemble wordplay, beats and production were futuristic. While WuTang blew up The East Coast these dudes blew up Everything West of The Mississippi. Shit...They blew up NY and NJ too!
You have no idea how incredible it was to hear SOM back in 93 for the first time. I saw ATCQ, De La, and SOM in Dallas, TX Nov 93. I went to the after party and got to witness the legendary SOM freestyle circle! I met A-Plus and Opio after they finished spitting.
Me too after Junior High School I used to do my homework and at 4:00 pm I watch rap city just to see that video classic reminisce I miss the 90 hip hop music 💯💯
The summer after second grade!!!! July 93!!!!! It came on Rap City. The West was killing shit. Not only did they have G-Funk n Mob shit, but they also had backpacker music and boom bap as well. Their range was wide as fuck, and that's why they we're winning at the time. These cats, Their guy Del, The Pharcyde, and Freestyle Society (I think their name was) are prime examples of how wide the West's horizons were. I could go on and on about the year 93 PERIOD, but I'll leave just saying that this was a important year for hip hop, ESPECIALLY West coast hip hop, and this album 93' til infinity (which was the first cassette that my parents approved of my Bros and me having with profanity) really gave people a perspective on how versatile the West was. Love to The Mighty SOULS OF MISCHIEF!!!! HIP HOP RULES!!!!! I SLAP THIS SHIT TIL THIS DAY!!!!!!
I met these dude outside a show at tinley park they came out to chill with the fans, a-plus dapper me and my brother up after we were telling him how legendary he is and the music they make is amazing. A freakin plus says so me and my brother hey man I’m just like you guys, I’m just a normal person who loves music like you! It was really really cool cuz it’s the first time I ever really thought about something like that so it was dope!! We smoked blunts and chilled outside that show for a hot minute till they got done loading the equipment and split. Then we went to the Milwaukee or Madison show I do t remember the very next day lmao 🤣
Yep dope brothers, had a similar story in '93 they were touring with Tribe and De La...after the set, we was kicking it with A+, and he almost got lleft...we was ready to give the God a ride to the hotel, they didn't leave him...all for one, one for all😅...Lincoln Ne. Yo I have a Black Moon story, also in Nebraska in 94, we kicked it with Buck, Steele, and Evil Dee in the V.I.P. another dope ass cru of brothers!
Hip hop needs to go back to this era! When people knew how to rap and make good music, Souls of Mischief, Gang Starr, Wu-Tang-Clan, Bone Thugs and Public Enemy were the best rap groups of the 90s
This had to be best era of hip hop!!!!!! Keep it real was not just a saying, it was a way of life. It was against hip hop law to jock another rapper's style. Now everybody look and act the same. I miss it when everybody had their own style. The 90s defines that moment and time of individuality within the hip hop community
I first heard this song on Stretch & Bobbito and was so happy that I was recording the show on A fresh cassette tape that night. I played this song so much on my Walkman. I listen to this to this day! "I know where you live there at your crib I got ni99as waiting". So fkn dope!
There was a documentary on Heiro not long back, they mention the location of this video as Tilden Park in Berkeley. To anyone not from this area, I guess it's all kinda similar, but this is NOT Tilden. It's really John Hinkel Park, located in the North Berkeley Hills, this used to be a total 90s hip hopper smoke spot it's nestled into a neighborhood of some of Berkeley's most wealthy residents. They used to call the cops on people for hanging out there for years, but since weed is legal now, then it's too bad for them! To this day people are still there smoking and listening to music all day. If you're ever in Berkeley, definitely check it out. The large fireplace as seen in this video is deteriorating and the whole park has changed a little since the 1990's but still it's an iconic place.
I saw them in 94 I believe at a festival in Frisco. I waited all night to see them I was fuckin tired it was hella groups performing of different genres and then they came in I was instantly hyped! then I saw them again in 2000 in Frisco again and they didn't disappoint! my bff was talking to Pep they were kinda "dating" so we got these hella good tickets to their show that night! I'll never forget we linked up with allllll them like the whole hieroglyphics crew before the show then car pooled to the venue with them I was so star struck but I played it mad cool 😎 hahaha! what a night!
Most of the world looks to 93 Til as being monumental. But THIS is one oh the most important songs in my life. This was the first time I saw myself represented, a camera.
This came out during my junior year in high school. It just blew everyone's mind smh. Del was already my fav emcee, but this just sealed it. Heiro was one of the best crews at the time.
My brother and them did a show with these cats back in the day. This is when we had some hip hop on the innovative tip in California. Unique sound. really

(RIP 98.7 Kiss FM)
HIEROGLYPHICS/SOULS OF MISCHIEF are the best group ever, wordsmiths, Lyrical geniuses, and changed the way people rapped. The multi's, thought pattern, and rhyme scheme was something special. This is proof ruclips.net/video/58a5fzh0tJo/видео.html says they are "RAPPERS RAPPERS"
The world needs a JUICE CREW, WUTANG, HIEROGLYPHICS reunion/celebration of hip-hop!! Real hip hop. Those 3 crews arguably defined the golden age of hip hop.
Hieroglyphics crew is best imo though. 93' Til Infinity, 3rd Eye Vision, and Trilogy.... Those 3 albums are better than any 3 and other crew can assemble. Add Full Circle and its a wrap.
Souls of Mischief/Hieroglyphics flows were sacred writings. Thats what Hieroglyphics means: sacred writings.

And that's only 5 of my fav tracks of their.... they have DOZENS of songs better than most rappers/crews BEST.
changed my life wen i first heard this!
DJ Vadim changed my life the first time I herd "TERRORIST, TERRORIST, T-E-R-R" ✌️
Same here!
English breakfast dj vadim swollen members
DJ Vadim whoo!
DJ Vadim bro you read my mind...i actually went and got their third eye symbol tatted on my arm....
when the beat drops at the beginning what a rush
These cats were way ahead of their time. Their ensemble wordplay, beats and production were futuristic. While WuTang blew up The East Coast these dudes blew up Everything West of The Mississippi. Shit...They blew up NY and NJ too!
This is the first time I've heard this joint and it is smacking. I cant imagine how hype this must have been when it actually dropped back in 93!
it was dope back then I remember when I saw the video on TV I was sick!!!! they were my new favorite group instantly!
used to watch this video on rap city back in the day this video would get me so hyped when it would come on
your just ols, this is still good today when you hear it for the first time, you sound like a degraded grandfather jesus
@@jason_ damn that's a show right there.
i'm seein som next week. can't wait.
This deserves more recognition
This album changed my life. I had finally realised the true essence of hip hop and rap.
Tajai's intro to this song goes fucking hard
Legends. PERIOD!!!
wow rap city. 93 came home from school and watching this video memories
Rap City played that real shyt.
@@antoniogoode4407hell yes
You hear them flows...this is real hip hop born in the Bay...this should have millions of views.
Yo I have a Black Moon story, also in Nebraska in 94, we kicked it with Buck, Steele, and Evil Dee in the V.I.P. another dope ass cru of brothers!
the golden era of hip hop.
Raise your glass if you love MUMBLE FREE MUSIC!!!
I still bump 93 till infinity!

Every day g
Here you go listen to it one more time
that bay area sound. Blowin it up back in the day
Forever lasting music! Pep Love don’t get enough credit for his work 😤🔥🤞🏾
Hip hop needs to go back to this era!
Miss the 90's
Sleeping on this track? THAT'S WHEN U LOST
their logo was genius
Simple yet SO effective.
Steppin to Casual?? Steppin to Del?? Steppin to the Souls?? THATS WHEN YA LOST

Just saw em in Raleigh tonight. Fucking kick ass show.30 years later and that shit still slaps as hard as a pissed off pimp.
Parents would send me to some summer camp so they could do their thing and I thank them because was introduced to the Souls.
I first heard this song on Stretch & Bobbito and was so happy that I was recording the show on A fresh cassette tape that night. I played this song so much on my Walkman. I listen to this to this day! "I know where you live there at your crib I got ni99as waiting". So fkn dope!
This was the era of the Columbia multi color reversible jackets. The 90s was the shit and this group is in my top 10 of all time!!
Graduated high school in 93 this was blasting at our Graduation. Dope years yooooo
Same here, friend.
😎
Tajai the best MC I ever heard! SOM and Onyx are 2 groups that are awesome! East and West!
The X-Men of Oakland!
I remember being mind blown at their rhyme style back then. Like no-fucking-body was spitting like these dudes were at the time. 🎤🔥🔥🔥
That come in!!
Lengendary Classic
I met these brothers. They're Dope. One of the best jams of all time.👍🏽
There was a documentary on Heiro not long back, they mention the location of this video as Tilden Park in Berkeley.
It's hard to pick the best when they ALL are dope af...
Ten brains couldn't parallel this
The Girbuads...... with the columbia!!
Opium's flow tho 🔥
*Opio
Are you on Opium, friend?
Soul Of Mischief Forever 💯🔥🎤🎧🎤💯
the definition of a bass line drop.
Man they looked so young. And I haven't aged a day.
90s hip-hop 90s rock 90s metal was the real music
seems like every genre peeked in the 90s.. all downhill after that, sadly..
When hip hop was real music and had real words
Phesto murdered it
One of the best beats and raps in hiphop period
I saw them in 94 I believe at a festival in Frisco. I waited all night to see them I was fuckin tired it was hella groups performing of different genres and then they came in I was instantly hyped! then I saw them again in 2000 in Frisco again and they didn't disappoint! my bff was talking to Pep they were kinda "dating" so we got these hella good tickets to their show that night! I'll never forget we linked up with allllll them like the whole hieroglyphics crew before the show then car pooled to the venue with them I was so star struck but I played it mad cool 😎 hahaha! what a night!
I love reading stories so dope you know they’re true beyond cool 😎
@@Adovian_The_Star yes! I remember thinking they're mad cool and regular dudes that happen to be one of my favorite groups 👌🏽
These cats are still very relevant and contribute alot for the culture of Hiphop Salute and bless the Souls of Mischief Heiroglyphics crew
Had this 12” on blue vinyl back in the day. Dope
Legends!
No Doubt .
no wonder people call this album a classic
Most of the world looks to 93 Til as being monumental. But THIS is one oh the most important songs in my life. This was the first time I saw myself represented, a camera.
30 years and still going strong
Super Classic Track. One of my favorite SOM tracks of all time.
The first video i saw on rap city visiting florida in 93....still stands the test of time
Back when pants were baggy and comfortable
This came out during my junior year in high school. It just blew everyone's mind smh. Del was already my fav emcee, but this just sealed it. Heiro was one of the best crews at the time.
I was a senior and I wholeheartedly concur, friend.
The entire group was so sick with their own style. This is that real hip hop with top tier MC's.
My brother and them did a show with these cats back in the day. This is when we had some hip hop on the innovative tip in California. Unique sound. really
straight Syndicate
Phesto is wanted for 187 of this track
Highschool classic 90s
Like we say in French , this group is sous estimés !!!!
I'm 19 years old , These cats hard asf
I think I love your parents 🔥
These dudes weren’t under the radar as some say.
They were popular in my crew atkeats in 93’ish in south Florida.
