A year later and still very relevant.
The bottom line, irrespective of what politicians says, is that it is impossible for Nigeria to create a regular supply of electricity as long as they produce 5 000mw.
For example in South Africa with a quarter of the population of Nigeria, they produce 60 000mw and as we all know, there is not enough electricity to go around in SA. That's why they have load shedding (power cuts)
The difference is that SA is continuously expanding its electricity production and at the beginning of 2024 launched bidding for more than 7600mw of new capacity and expects 5 500mw of gas projects to be online by 2026.
The reality is that Nigeria is the country with the largest energy access deficit in the world

Nigeria gets enough sunshine daily. So Solar is viable.
Wind is also strong in some parts of the country. So wind turbines should be considered.
Besides centralized solar, individuals could also be allowed to build grid-tie systems.
Furthermore, Nigeria has access to the ocean that never runs dry. Dam the water, and use it for power generation.
If they really want it to work, then find out how other countries have managed to make it work.
Adapt their methods to the Nigerian environment.
    It's that simple.

While it may appear as an older technology, advancements in coal-fired power plants, coupled with the increasing costs of natural gas and removal of subsidies, can make it a more cost-effective option for generating companies.

Good one Jude...but there is still a lot to be investigated and discussed about the Nigeria power sector. This sector is very critical for the growth of the Nigerian economy. Hopefully we would get it right some day.
I believe we should have a part 2 or even 3 on this.... investigations into how we trasnformed from Nepa to Phcn to the present configuration and also how the Buhari govt fared in the sector.
    Keep up the good work.
