Windtalkers got a giant budget, a great script, and Nick Cage. It's a shame it also got a horrible director, terrible choreography, and awful CGI/VFX. A textbook example of wasted potential.
John Woo has a certain directing style and that style is great for action movies but in a war movie it seems to stylize the war violence which was off putting for audiences
2:03 a grenade cause the entire area exploded like napalm lmao. John woo must be father of Michael Bay
He threw the 500kg bomb from helldivers 2

I’m kinda surprised you haven’t gotten to Tora Tora Tora yet. I highly recommend it

Windtalkers (2002) Kill Count
Who knew John Woo can make an intense war movie that doesn’t have any gun fu in it
Yeah the war scenes are actually really good but the script itself needed more work
Pretty underrated movie
