Yes the action in this film is unrealistic to true warfare, but the the character of Joe Enders comes alive with Nicholas cage acting performance, along with a great cast of members you can admire. That first action scene when the last soldier in his command dies and whispers “god damn joe Enders” as his final words always stuck with me. Also to honor the Navajo men who saved a lot of marines during the pacific conflict. This was one of the first war movies I’d ever seen and the final scene always made me cry. This is a classic!

Even though some of the scripting and events in this movie are bad/unrealistic, it was still an entertaining movie that gives you a sense of pride and patriotism, and also helped shine more light on our Navajo Wind talkers and those who served in the pacific theatre. You can hate on Cage all you want, but this is one of his better movies/performances and it's better than some modern ww2 movies out there imo

I've never heard that Cage was hated for this movie
I thought the same when I rewatched it. People need to realize that this isnt Tom Hanks, or Spielbierg that aim for historical accuracy. Instead they gave this project to the madman that is John Woo. If ya havent heard who he is, look up his movies. Same shit, Gas explosion, unlimited clips/magazines and a badass protagonist.
It’s a cool movie if you’re a 10 year old, but this movie is full of cliches, bad acting, cheesy battle scenes and feels less like a WWII film and more like a Medal of Honor game from the days of the OG Xbox. It’s more pro war in how it shows the marines conduct themselves with one liners, firing from the hip and hitting everything with pin point accuracy and shows the Japanese as little more than cartoon bad guys. This movie sucks!

Nic was firing that Thompson like it was a belt fed
I believe it is the M1928 Thompson, with drum magazine, 50 rounds. So yeah, it ain't like the the Tommy gun we see in the SPR, where Cpt. Miller often replace the mag.
@@YCohen-ok9xu Uh in the last clip he fired way more than he had in the 20 round stick mag featured, so just some minor inaccuracies that could be overlooked
@@badminvelt i remember later in the movie a guy with the BAR says he's on his last mag and he ends up firing atleast 100 more rounds lol
The Thompson fires from an open bolt position, but Mr Cage had to rack a round anyways. Hollywood movies = to a bucket of piss and tampons🎉

Tommy guns with 80 round stick mags and pineapple grenades that go off like napalm. They sure don't make weapons like that anymore.

It’s been SO long since I’ve seen this movie, I forgot just how close to Tropic Thunder the action scenes are!
Christian Slater was the best part of this movie. His acting is effortlessly authentic and he’s the only sympathetic character.
Idk why. But the dude getting his hand cut off is just so unsettling to me. It stuck with me since I was a kid.

I saw this when it came out. I don’t remember everyone standing up so much in combat. That seems kinda silly to me now. Good movie overall.

The Navajo community deserves a better film & portrayal than this piece of garbage. This is a wonderful story that needs to be equally wonderfully done.
Sad part of reality is, had this been done more accurately towards the Navajo language and culture War contributions, this probably would not have made it past some obscure movie viewing festivals 🤔

The battle at the beginning has many scenes that were cut in the Japanese version, this one feels more powerful.

全然リアルでは無い、米軍が乱射するだけで砲弾ではやられているが何故日本兵はライフルを撃たないで突っ込んで撃たれるだけ？それをいいように撃ち殺すだけ過去の戦争を自己正当化して正義と悪の前提で見せているだけでしょう大規模な撮影である事は確かだけど勝てば全て正義と言う理論でしか無い、戦争はそんな簡単理論では無いはずそうでなければ弱小国は全て悪となる。軍事強国が全て正義ではない。
Absolutely horrible. If it weren’t for his uncle, Nicaholas Cage would never be cast in anything. No one in combat is clean shaven, especially when specifically making a movie about it.

Cage and Slater walking around chatting with no hats, and noone tears them a new one!! Groups of yelling men, packed closely together, running in various directions, god this is one of the dumbest, most clusteriffic shitboxes ever!!
I didn’t remember this film being this inaccurate. I can’t imagine wining a war when everybody stands up and just walks forward under fire. Maybe in the 1800’s.
Its been years since i watched this embarrassment, but i do remember it started 'going south' when they came to the hospital and (im paraphrasing) said something like "youre the only corporal we know can get the job done!" And again, maybe they needed to save money on 'extras,' so they had them all clustered together? And Cage running at full speed, shooting accurately with a 45! Just a dumpster fire.
Interessante mesmo...alguns até hoje crítica os Norte Americano...na verdade eles fizeram o meio de campo na segunda guerra mundial..suas tenacidade é 5... nota massima aqui no Brasil... ele enfrentaro duas guerra mundial...no pacífico contra os japoneses!
