I think the minions were more hated because of how they were everywhere when the movies were popular, it was hard to get away from them and they even had a minion movie. I think them in this movie was fine, people didn’t find them as annoying just because of this

Also, the minion movies are a cash grab that got worse with each sequel until they had no plots or messages at all. They're the first modern plotless movies, especially the latest one, and they might not be the last.
i think it was moreso the way social media ran with the minions and memed them to absolute infinity. especially facebook. it was definitely one of those quirky millennial moments in social media history and it didn’t help that illumination greenlit the spin-off

Now Megamind. They were released right around the same time and both focus on villains. Megamind is less of a "kiddie" movie than Despicable Me and was kinda overshadowed at the time as a result.

I think the spot where the werewolf turns back into a naked human and slinks away is a nod to the classic video game 'Rampage,' in which you played either s giant mutant gorilla, lizard, or werewolf tearing up a city. When a character ran out of energy, they shrank down to human and moved off-screen exactly the way the werewolf in the movie did.

I love the minions!!! They're hilarious and cute, and I love what they brought to the first 2 movies. What I'm not as much of a fan of was how much they tried to capitalize/profit/milk the whole Minions thing with a gazillion merch and products unecessary movies etc. 😂

They went on a week vacation to Spain when he was like 4 and people were looking at his mom really judgingly, cause obviously having a child in a leash looks bad. But at the end of the week they were showing her thumbs up cause they had all seen the kind of kid he was xd
Minions overstayed their welcome. The studio kept trying to milk them for everything and people got sick and tired of them. Screw quality or good writing and stories, just fill it with immature stupid jokes.

The entire Illumination studio is extremely underrated, I grew up with the despicable me franchise
same, rest of what illumination makes is pretty boring. i only grew up with despicable me 1, despicable me 2 though not really, and i have 0 nostalgia with minions and despicable me 3 cause those movies were completely made for profit, they had no reason to exist other then that.
I started watching The Mandalorian with my 10 yo recently, and she keeps laughing at the Jawa because "they sound just like minions" 🙄
I absoutly love this movie. My childhood friend and I watched it shortly before he passed away, but it will always be a fond and funny memory and movie I still try to get people to watch.
I believe some movies that come out at the same time that get competitive are often both deserving of love. In this case Despicable me and Megamind are both wonderful takes on a similar premise. My only issue is this led this studio to a lazy animation go to, even if here, it was charming, less so with other movies (sequels don't count of course). But otherwise awesome. The lady running the orphanage was Miss Hannegan's successor (Annie).

Ehh in my opinion despicable me 2 was ok, just not really something i would watch ever again. But despicable me 1 was lovely, it was basic yet full of heart and humor, definitely one of the best animated movies in recent years.
I am guessing that the real God of Thunder also would not know the importance of any distinction, after all, when have we ever seen Thor use a firearm of any kind. However, because comments feed the algorithm, and as my name indicates...I tend to enjoy correcting other folks. At 5:07 when the minion fires his rocket, that is not a misfire...it was a negligent discharge. A misfire is when you try to fire your weapon and the propellant charge fails to go off properly. ✌💯😂

i think the minions are sweet. i dont know if they get more annoying in the other movies but in this one they seem to mean well and have good hearts. when you were talking about how cute the little girl was and how can you ever say no to her i was thinking if you ever have a daughter youll be in big trouble.
The minions were cute when I saw this for the first time and then they over saturated the world and very quickly went from cute to annoying which is a shame

I love the minions too. I might be influenced by first watching this with my kid when he was only a few years old. We laughed a LOT together watching this (and the next ones as well, including the minions movie). This one is my favourite though, closely followed by number 2 😁 Would love to see you react to that one as well!
I love this movie and so glad you decided to review it. The minions are incredibly childish and that's exactly the point. The Minions movie also gives their origin story and I'd definitely recommend watching them all as they're a great way to pass the time and just incredibly funny and heartwarming.

I adore the Minions. I saw this in theater when it came out and my husband has been minionizing my life ever since. They make me giggle and I just dismiss people who hate them. They are goofy, sweet, fun and we love them 🥰

Hiya Nick, just finished watching and glad you enjoyed it so much. I actually saw it when it came out, mostly because the trailers for it looked so funny. And the movie didn't disappoint. It had that nice mix of really funny moments and endearing ones with the girls, and lol the Minions. I've always liked the Minions because even though you can't fully understand their language, they're still too damn funny most of the time. The 2nd movie was really good. 🚀 😁 ✊standingwiththeUkraine

First according to the height of a Minion (which is 3.5 feet on average) Gru is 4 minions tall, which means he is a godly size of 14 feet tall. Second if any of you remember the original Despicable Me, you Know there is a scene when Vector kidnaps the three girls and shoots a series of heat-seeking misses at Gru, he then dodge them all. According to the speed of an average ballistic missile (1900 mph) and the size of the missile according to his ankle size, Gru can perceive and move at such a speed that the missiles only move 9.5 miles per hour, 0.5% of their original speed. Plus after this Gru punches a shark and it is paralyzed meaning its spine is probably shattered, to remind you it would require a force greater than 3,000 newtons to fracture the spine. That’s equal to the impact created by a 500-pound car crashing into a wall at 30 miles per hour. I rest my case.
The Minions Movie covers their "origin". The Rise of Gru will sort of continue where the Minion Movie left off. 😆 Out of all the Dispicable Me films, this one is my favorite. Two was okay, a bit weaker on the story... still funny tho. Three was a bit better than two. But I have to say the first one was definitely the funniest... and I loved the ending!

Justin were on a leash probably because he have ADHD or being extremely hyperactive and such children needs to keep a close eye on them so they don't run off and get themselves into trouble or getting themselves hurt (which Justin nearly did when he fell from the scaffolding and flew through the air (good thing his dad happened to be there to "catch" him).

Never want to get away from minions. So hilarious and cool lol. Those that hate just hates them cause they're minions were all minions minions to someone lol. Everyone got a boss. Eh, I like the minions. Like Frozen, they were popular and overplayed after the movie came out, but I enjoy the movie and its characters as is without letting the overpopularity and merchandising of it ruin my enjoyment.
This movie was my childhood. It was awesome before all of the cringy Facebook moms started using minions in memes
The minions are definitely the worst part of the movie, but it's a great movie nonetheless. The problems with the minions is how they took over Illumination studios. This is their first film, and the studio showed promise to be a great animation company with movies for kids and adults alike but with the popularity of the minions.. that's pretty much the only thing they have done ever since. Minion humor.
Edit: I checked their wikipedia page and the upcoming movie "Migration" shows promise. I hope that the studio might come around to create better movies in the future, especially since they're in charge of the Mario movie.
