I bought this same bass a year and a half ago and it has become my #1 goto bass for gigs and rehearsals. I originally went to the music store to check out one of the new Fender Ultra Precisions and ended up leaving the store with the Ibanez SR400 instead. I tried it at a couple of band rehearsals first but wasn't getting on with the tone, it was getting lost in the mix, muddy. I replaced the pickups with a set of Aguilar Super Doubles and now it's my favorite bass. The Aguilars are not as loud as the stock Ibanez PowerSpan pickups but they are cleaner and punchier and I seldom need to touch the 3-band EQ which are usually set flat on their center detents. I also opted to not split the coils on the Aguilars so it effectively disabled the split coil tap switch. I always run the pickups in full humbucker mode and usually favor the front pickup for and nice P-bass tone.
I'm a guitarist, but I want to learn Bass. Looking into purchasing a 4-string (24-fret) Bass under $600. Would you recommend the Ibanez SR400, or the Schecter Omen Extreme-4? Or, another brand/model? Thanks for your videos!
I own nothing but Ibanez basses because they’re the best to me. I love the thinner necks which help with moving around the bass very quickly and the feel is unsurpassed. The tone from these basses is the best I’ve heard, Fender has always been a bit overrated to me. Fender is far overpriced as well, I’d rather have an Ibanez any day.
Ergonomically these check off a lot of boxes but I couldn't really find one great tone, just a number of ok tones. Neck profile was a little too scrawny for me anyway. Great review though.

Hey Rattan, thanks for that info. I bet that sounds great!
I want the 5 string version. I can score a used one from guitar center for a good price!
Sounds like a plan!
Personally, I wish it had chrome hardware. I have the Ibanez Mezzo 32" and I love it.
- I also prefer chrome or even satin silver metal would be better than gold.
- Where is the truss adjustment, at the headstock ?
Yes, sorry I forgot to mention.
I agree.
Yup, me too
Great demo.
Thanks, Deb!
Very cool!
Thanks Liliana!
"especially Sire" ;-)
I had a Sire V7. It was probably the best sounding jazz bass I ever had but I couldn't handle the weight
I image that the bottom on the coil splitter becomes an offset split coil like a P bass pickup.
Hey Farewell, could be. I looked on the Ibanez site but didn't really understand it
Are you making fun of my cartoon characters? I thought we were friends lol.......glad you liked that bass....I love my sr2605
I love watching your characters and Davie 504s . Very entertaining just not what my channel is about and yes, we are very good friends!

Hey El Nacho, both basses you mentioned are very good basses. I also really like the Sterling by Musician basses.
W was the neck dive?
No neck dive on that one.
I like the neck and for the money Ibanez is a good deal. The body color is just a little much for me.
I agree!

Hey Joey, thanks for your input. That one felt and sounded good to me!

Fair enough!
