Thanks for the videos and for all these tips: I'm wondering though if these approaches are working only/mostly in the US or are applicable also in Europe..thanks!

I am so glad I found your channel. Just a ton of absolutely great advice succinctly presented. I am passing this on to my college-aged daughter. Things I wished I had known at her age. (Of course, the internet wasn't a thing back then, much less LinkedIn...)

There is a job i applied for and honestly my resume is not as strong I believe. So if i don't get an interview from a recruiter should I reach out to the Hiring manager with a Cover Letter and Resume. I have connected with the employee that is at the current position but will be leaving so it will be that position that is opening. We have talked about the position, amount of equipment that needs to be take care of and the area the hiring manager is responsible for. We talked about the company, and she gave me insight on it. Should I mention that as part of my cover letter?

    Hi Bill,
I bought your GET HIRED online course and your Lecture 2 (pt.2) brought me here.
Just two quick questions for me:
    1. Is it okay if I connect with the director (the one who interviewed me) on LinkedIn, in order to leverage his connections? (not for the purpose of following up, just for his connections)
    2. Should I connect with and message the managers of the companies that I have already sent my applications through job postings?
Thanks a lot, and your advice have been of so much help!

Hi Leetaiming64 - glad the course it working for you!
      1. Yes.
      2. Yes - you can, but it technically defeats the purpose of applying. A better strategy would be to pick one - either standard HR channels, or networking to get into that organization. If you do both, one can cancel the other to a degree. in my experience, the "try everything approach" is less effective. I would try networking first, and then standard channels later.

@@TheCompaniesExpert Thanks for the reply! Please allow me to give more context to question 1:
      - Interviewed by him few days ago (no job offer yet)
      - Would connecting with him make me seem desperate, and not messaging him at all make me look like an awkward stalker?
      Thanks again!

That could go either way when we're dealing with individuals. If it were me, I wouldn't see any harm in it. You did meet him, and it was solicited.

In your opinion, do you think LinkedIn premium is worth it?
