This was great. I'm changing careers to do something more fulfilling and running into this very problem. Right video at the right time - thanks!
For software developers, this is like getting a job in another programming language, how to overcome this issue is make a personal project in the language that you are trying to get a job in. Same thing goes if you want to break into the Software Development field
Thank you for your inspiration, I have changed three industries so far, but all in field service. Can’t agree more about arrogance of some hiring agents refusing the work just for lack of experience in a certain fields. No one is born engineer or mechanic.
Just got the job in manufacturing after 11 years of working in the pharmacy. I archived that by pointing out that I'm reliable, precise and accurate. Just focus on what your strengths are not your weaknesses. Good luck to everyone who find this useful. Love your channel by the way. Most of my prep for interviews came from here. Cheers
Informative 👍
Hi Bill thanks!! Great advice….
Hey after so many videos following you I can’t stop asking myself if you also compose / play music. I mean the background music is yours?
The mike is also very cool too!
Well it takes a CEO to play music like The Rolling Stones I suppose 😎
Very helpful video!
Great video. Just wondered if you've done any on interviewing for internal roles and if there's anything we need to do differently ?
Great information! I'm 56 and have been in the education field for approximately 20 years but in administrative roles. I'm currently an HR/Payroll Spec but want to become an online Adult Education teacher in Illinois which only requires that you have a Masters. I just completed my MA in English a few years ago. Ageism is real so networking would be a good option for me; however, the only people I know in my field of interest are co-workers. Probably not a good idea to ask them for a referral right?
Hello, I have watched your videos regarding differences between manager-director and CEO-President, I would really like to know about the Vice President and the details and levels of higher authorities of an organisation. So if you can make a great video having information about that, please do it on my request and yes your videos are amazingly helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you.
🔥🔥
Your videos are great and very helpful. What are some ways to search for a job (with networking and referrals) if you are concerned about your current employer finding out?
I would do my networking method that I explain in many videos, and in detail in my course. Just don't contact any obvious common connection, and you can sometimes explicitly say that this is in confidence. This may help: ruclips.net/p/PLO4kDC0EWkeDaZyMJgm9W43J2Oy0VefRV
I am 7months pregnant and I attended an interview today, however when I asked how soon the position needs to be filled, I was told in 3 weeks time .
I have instantly lost hope, please do a video of pregnancy and interviews
I'm not an expert on pregnancy, but you are a very employable person, and if that's the reason they reject you, it's perhaps a blessing in disguise, as you wouldn't want to work there..
I cant go from construction to a medical doctor? You wont tell me what i cant solve with my hammer for sure!
Hey! It's all well and good to laugh at construction workers until one of them gives you a successful brain transplant with that hammer!
Hello, Bill! Thank you for the video.
I'm thinking about changing career - from a project manager to a recruiter because I like to listen to people stories. But from your videos it looks like recruiters are very superficial and it's a mechanical job. Am I getting you right? What do you think about a recruiter as a career path?
Thank you! It's like saying you want to work in the restaurant business. That could involve $1000-a-plate, world-renown, master chefs, or, ....McDonalds workers. Recruiting runs the gamut. To be successful, you need a deep understanding of people and roles, and a way to make this obvious to others.
