@@FitmentIndustries 1 year later and here i am looking at a set of wheels for a new car and there is still no sort/filter by weight! dont give up fitment industries! that would still be one of the best wheel search filters out there!
Literally just bought some for my mr2 spyder and I’m so excited to get them on, currently have some 20 year old momos that are just heavy and slowing the car down
RPF1s, the entry wheel that's quality, and won't break the bank all while giving you the right look. Given that you choose the correct offset/width of course, including FWD applications. These are the wheels that help you on your way to a more iconic wheel, the TE37.
sad thing is...you save 0.9lbs a wheel with TE37 vs Rpf1, and the TEs arenearly 4x the price. Titanium lug nuts would save almost the same amount for 1/3rd the price
I think you should have mentioned that one of the reasons its so popular for people racing is that you cant get anything lighter for the same price. Ive got a set of 15x8 on my miata and weight was the whole reason I bought them. The closest thing comparable would be the 6UL but even that is a touch heavier for the same size (something like .2lbs)
The Advanti Storm S1s are a pretty good alternative for Miatas as well. I believe they're slightly heavier but much lower cost. Personally I prefer the look of the RPF1 though so I'm probably gonna get those for my car.
I think that depends on your application. If you're running 15's, then yes, you're right about the weight. But if you go up a size at all, other options immediately become viable. In fact, just go up to 16's and they become heavier than my Konig Hypergrams. 16x7 RPF1 is 18lbs per, whereas my 18x8.5 Hypergrams are 17lbs. Don't get me started about 18x8.5 RPF1s that are close to 30lbs a wheel.
Got these for a 2006 1.8 Sentra. Got them powder coated a bright yellow. I wanted something lightweight and saw these and sorta knew they were a name brand wheel. Then I started noticing them alot more often on alot of different vehicles.
Ive quickly found that VERY few wheels can beat its weight, and if they do....then theyre all more expensive quite a bit. Which sucks as youd think after 20 years someone would make a lighter similarly priced wheel. Wedssport are the only ones who make lighter wheels for under $500(18x8 +45 from weds is 16.24lbs, vs 18.0 for the RPF1 in the same spec)
It’ll be awesome if you guys would do a comparison between the rpf1 and hypergram because both rims are fantastic. But it’s always a battle between the hypergram and rpf1 that this one is better and that one is bad. Please do a video!
just got some in bronze ..really like the wheel and the look of it but almost didn't buy them cause alot of people have them and everyone hates them cause everyone has them lol but the price is just too hard to pass on for what you are getting and maybe if i was rich i would get some crazy 2k wheel but for now i have no regrets and can use the remaining money on other performance mods..
It should be noted that wheels excellent for racing are not necessarily ideal for daily driving. Stock car weight puts a lot of stress on these wheels. Add stiff coilovers and pothole plagued highways and you'll hear stories of people bending 3 out of 4 wheels in one winter. Some time attack teams would go through several sets in one season. What makes these wheels worth more than their weight in aluminum is the fact that the face will hold it's shape even if a spoke cracks. Enkei's tuning series are more daily friendly and road-oriented (i.e. the TS-10, Kojin, T6S etc.). Enkei Raijin were specifically made for daily driving with the benefits of a wheel as light as a race grade wheel like the NTO3+M.
Depends on the car weight and tires series(say 245/45/18) also too. That 45 series tires on a s550 mustang may beat them up even more than a BRZ on 25 series tires
I love my enkei rpf1 in sbc but after running them for three and a half year one of the wheel has paint flaking. Not sure how I can prevent this problem from getting worse.
I see that Motegi MR406 in the background 😉 you guys should ask Motegi (or maybe Papadakis 🤔) if you can check out the wheels they showed off at Irwindale they made like a commemorative edition of one their wheels
