  • Here's a quick vid to illustrate how to change most common joystick balltops. I also included some size options to consider, as well as different materials to change up the feel of your fightstick. It's a super simple change and it can make a lot of difference!
    Did you know that not all balltops weigh the same? Reddit user MerkurSchroeder compiled a list of weights for several common varieties so I've included his list here as a reference:
    HORI Hayabusa 35mm Balltop 30g
    Sanwa 35mm White, Silver Balltop 27g
    Seimitsu 30mm Balltop 17g
    Kori clear Battop 32g
    Samducksa Battop 31g
    Smallcab Hollow Aluminum 35mm Balltop 21g
    Seimitsu 45mm Bubble Balltop 57g
    Smallcab 35mm Aluminum Shaft 10g
    Stock HORI Hayabusa Shaft 27g
    0:00 The basics
    0:24 Other levers
    0:37 On an actual fightstick...
    1:25 Lots of options

    You’re channel is honestly amazing to watch and to learn about this type of stuff, I’m planning on customizing a Fightstick when I get to chance to buy a new one in the future, so I will look back into your channel incase I needed a good idea on what I need to do without messing up

    I'm quite the novice when it comes to stick modding...but some time ago my son and I tag teamed an old ps3 madcatz. We put in sanwa buttons but left the lever stock only changing from balltop to battop. This morning we were playing sfv and I told him to grab his stick. He was like "nah". I just assumed he's over the battop so I gave him the option for us to change back to ball... he stayed quiet.

      I think I got the Evo branded one from Arcade Shock or some online retailer a while back (same with a lot of the swirly 38 mm ones). The pokeball was one of fightstickguy's handpainted offerings. The skull was a 3d print job from Buttercade, I believe. Not sure where the red/white/blue one was originally from (I got it secondhand). Good luck in your hunt for the perfect balltop, and thanks for watching!

    Problem here: My Balltop always loosens when spinned counter clockwise. The screw below has no slit for a screwdriver and holding it with pliers and then spinning the Balltop clockwise does not tighten it. It's the Victrix Pro FS-12 with Sanwa parts.
    Help is appreciated - thanks in advance!

      I don't have any experience with that controller, so it's hard to guess. I would post on the r/fightsticks discord with your issue, and I'm sure someone there will have a Victrix and be able to point you toward the best solution. Thanks for watching. discord.gg/NbG42ZnM

    I have a new sanwa jlf with the dust cover for the shaft. Do you make sure the balltop can slightly rotate freely? or only the shaft/shaft cover itself?

    • @HushMySweet1
      @HushMySweet1  Год назад +2

      I don't quite follow your question, but you'll screw the balltop back on firmly like you would without a shaft cover, everything is identical. The balltop "spins" because the joystick shaft can rotate. The shaft cover can also turn around the shaft. Does that help?

    • @240Sil
      @240Sil Год назад +2

      @@HushMySweet1 yes helps, sorry if it was confusing. It’s brand new and for some reason I feel like something is catching or rubbing before I hit any switches. You’ll notice it randomly about 60-70% of the time. Pivot should be greased correct from the factory obviously? Brand new obsidian 2 stick had for about a few weeks. Is there such thing as breaking in?

    • @HushMySweet1
      @HushMySweet1  Год назад +1

      @@240Sil Shouldn't need any breaking in, and if it's almost 70% of the time, then you have an issue. I would disassemble the lever, make sure everything is free of dust and debris (and all angled correctly with no part upside down or something) and put it all back together. You could also regrease the pivot if you have some on hand. If you think it's coming from the shaft cover, then leave it off to test. (and you can buy a dust washer with a smaller diameter joystick hole if you want to leave it off).

    What do I do if the shaft doesn’t have that flathead spot?

    • @HushMySweet1
      @HushMySweet1  8 месяцев назад +1

      What kind of lever is it? I know Sanjuks V3 premium can come with different style shafts which require a wrench.

    • @rockethebarbarian
      @rockethebarbarian 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@HushMySweet1 Sanwa pretty sure, also my joystick is detachable so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it

    • @HushMySweet1
      @HushMySweet1  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@rockethebarbarian So it's like a Link or EX Groove? You'll need a tiny little allen wrench (they usually come with them). That goes inside the hollow upper shaft portion and then you twist off the balltop like you would here. Good luck!

    Which screwdriver you are using to unlock the ball top I am getting desperate nothing works. Please answer.

    • @HushMySweet1
      @HushMySweet1  4 месяца назад

      I just use a smaller flathead one, nothing special. If it's a standard joystick like a Sanwa or Hori, there will be a slot at the bottom of the shaft.

    • @HushMySweet1
      @HushMySweet1  Месяц назад +1

      A balltop change shouldn't mess with any sort of inputs. I would double-check that your 5-pin connection is securely connected to the harness. Maybe you jostled something? Just confirm that everything is secure.

      Either that or a watching paint dry tutorial, it's still up in the the air. All seriousness aside, my goal with this channel was to amass a library of tips and tricks for fightstick mods and changes for people of all levels and give them the confidence to start tweaking their sticks. This one is pretty simple, but we all have to start somewhere. Thanks for watching all the same, and hopefully you'll stick around for the heavier tweaks.
