  • Changing out the tension spring in a sanwa joystick is super easy. All you need is a small flat blade screw driver and about 2 minutes.

    Thanks a lot for this. Just changed the springs and actuators in two jlf sticks I’m using for a controller build. This helped a lot.

    Thanks for you help! I bought a semitsu stick and it was too rigid but it came with two spare springs. Couldn't figure out how to replace it. This helped.

    When I saw him trying to push the c clip back on with his thumb I was just like “he’s bouta find out this clip hits a lil different”

      I hate those clips. Fun fact the factory C clip is a 3/16 but you can get a 1/4 at your local box store like home depot that will work fine. Ask me how I know :)

      @@diyretroarcade I know how you know lol. Also if you use some channel lock or wide nose pliers you can squeeze it back in with a lot less effort

    Jeez the C-clip on mine is so difficult to take out I broke mine trying to take it off lol. I still haven't been able to remove it

    Brother sometimes the joystick handle will be very Tite . So how to loose the joystick handle?

    I play at a local arcade and the donkey kong joystick is being pulled down too much and was wondering if they may be using a too high tension spring?

      higher rate springs will take more force to move up or down but with a faster return to center rate.

    So I have a board and the joysticks are a little loose side to side, kinda like they have drift or dead zones. Will changing to a higher lb spring tighten the wobble on the joystick ?

      For more tension. Makes the joysticks a bit stiffer and not so loose. 2lb springs are normally recommended. 4lb if you fancy a workout.

      @@diyretroarcade just got a 4lb spring from you guys gonna install tonight. I’m a little too aggressive on my galaga! What a huge difference switching to sanwa on the 1up is. Totally changing out all the other games to sanwa. Thanks!!!

    Just start at removing the c clip don't remove the bottom pieces of the casing like this person.

      He did give a disclaimer in the video that you don't need to take it out. 😉
