I just upgraded my sticks tonight! Thanks for the info. Besides showing me how to properly clean them, I Now understand much better how to take them apart and reassemble them properly. Enjoyed as always! Thank you guys🖤
Very nice maintenance tutorials for these arcade joysticks. Those e-clips are always a PITA to take off / install... Those will last for at least another 6 months!
Last week I ordered a Sanwa stick for my Neo Geo ASP. It should arrive today or tomorrow, I'm curious if it makes a big difference to the original stick. Maybe I will change the buttons as well, but I have to decide what's better, Sanwa or Seimitsu?
There's more of a difference in sanwa Vs semitsu when it comes to the stick. But I'd say go with semitsu buttons. Regarding the feel, they're similar, but Ive had wayyy more sanwa buttons break than seimitsu
@@TeamPandory ok, thanks for answering. Then I choose the Seimitsu buttons, they seem to be more robust. And what's the main difference between the sticks of those brands? Or let's say, who makes the better sticks?
@@greensun1334 both are great. The 80s 90s era was full of seimitsu / sanwa hybrid arcade machines in Japan. Eventually the main machines mostly adopted Sanwa .. if youve played a Tekken game, sanwa sticks. Seimitsu have a huge range of different feeling sticks. Hey there! Thanks for your tutorial. Would you know if the same procedure is applicable to a Seimitsu LS-40-01? It looks similar to the one you used in the video, and I bought one which was supposedly new from an arcade shop but it was dirty.
@@TeamPandory Brilliant, thank you! I'm going to be cleaning mine off next week once I have the mounting plate and replacement shaft/dust cover I ordered for it arrive. I wish it wasn't as much of a pain to clean compared to Sanwa joysticks.
@team pandory hey bro, about the grease used, do you prefer tamiya cera-grease or shin etsu? and how long does it take to lubricate again using tamyia cera-grease?
@@tiagofernandes8848 They feel the same, or at least I can't tell the difference. I haven't used Sera grease but I have used Shin Etsu and Super Lube PTFE grease.
Hi, I bought a Hori Fight Stick Alpha and only hope for about a week and now the joysticks squeaks, especially when I press up. Why would it be squeaking when it's pretty much new? Everything feels perfectly fine but it's annoying. Do you have any ideas as to why and why I can do? I was thinking it might just need oil but is it normal for it to squeak so soon after purchasing it?
@@TeamPandory Well, the swuesk happens when I push down and when I push right. Not sure what would cause it. I was thinking that some WD40 silicon spray might help but I'm not sure as I'm new to arcade sticks. Do they need lubrication and if so, how often and what type of oil? I didn't see anything in the manual about that. Thanks
@@LFiers You shouldn't need any lubrication at all if you got it new. Ask for a replacement before you do anything to it! - Joystick controllers should be fine for a good few years when they're new. BTW WD40 is NOT lubrication, it removes water / rust, and doesn't actually lubricate anything. Good for a short time, but then it'll dry it out. What you're wanting to get for joystick lubrication is silicone grease, then maybe after a few games, add one drop of 3-in-1 oil. After that you should be good for 3-5 years depending on use.
Not regarding this video but have a query if possible?. How do I update the retroarch on my cloned super console x please?, I have updated the Emuelec fine. Much appreciated
If you check the changelog from emuelec, retroarch and cores (emulator) get updated with each version (of emuelec). RetroPie and the other distros work the same way.
Any advice for a stick that is now really loose? I've had a look at it (sanwa style) but I'm guessing just buy a new one. Does get played a fair bit. Microswitches seem fine but its so loose compared to the two player side. Any thoughts would be great 🙂
@@TeamPandory I ended up just ordering some stronger springs. I've taken the C clips off before to have a look so it shouldn't be too difficult to replace. Only cost me a quid or so...we shall see! I'll keep ya posted! Thanks again!
My stick had a lot of resistance, I thought it needed replacing. Turns out it was just dirty! Thanks so much for this tutorial.
Nothing like giving your stick a good clean 😉
Glad you got it working well again.

What is that intro music ?
Pretty cool....on my Sanwa I've changed the springs...with more tension...and a extender....and they feel perfect 😀
I may try heavier springs, but I found the biggest change is changing the gate.

Silicone grease should be good

What type of grease is ok to use in arcade lever?
We use this Tamiya ceramic crease, but the usual recommendation is silicone grease. Have a check online for arcade stick grease

Sanwa style as in a cheap rip-off? If that's the case, just replace with an authentic one. It's more trouble than it's worth.
Another thing you could do ... Is change the sticks over. Swap them out so player one has a tighter stick (grin)
