Same for me. I never thought, over decades, someone else would feel the same. Prefab Sprout got me through the most difficult times in my life. Thank you for posting your experience. Much love.
I can't believe I've only just seen this, it's wonderful... Paddy actually wrote this for Barbra Streisand as one of his legendary "projects", an album of songs for other people to sing (similarly, "I Remember That" was meant for Ray Charles) I guess this as close as we'll get to a Streisand version! Thanks for posting 🙏
I knew Martin mcAloon he was my course leader in 2001. He is one of the most amazing music men ever. Their music is making a come back. I can just feel it.
This is a lovely rendition and vocal performance of a fantastic Paddy McAloon song. It almost works better as pure jazz ballad this way. The slower tempo emphasizes the beauty of the melody and chords.
Oh jösses… jag älskar denna låt med PFS… har den på vinyl och lyssnar varje vecka på den… så vacker och nu med Lisa Nilsson som tolkar den… asså jag pallar inte 😆❤️🙏
Wonderful version of this masterpiece of Paddy Mcaloon ,a genius melodist ! thank you so much ! (i am a drummer-composer i have played with the great jazz organist Rhoda Scott ).
Just beautiful. Such a creative arrangement. Great horn work, as well as the solos and Ms Nilsson's vocal. Taking the synthesizer built track of the original and turning it into an acoustic arrangement like this is no small feat. Its something I've thought of doing with some of my favorite songs of Prefab (for piano). And it makes me wish Paddy could sing some of his best songs with such a sensitive group. And what are those Sprouts, anyway?
False description in title, which is a shame because I like this, writer Paddy McAloon is a big Gershwin fan so his music suits this version ,however,....who is this?
This charming version highlights the depth and genius of Paddy's songwriting.
any song off that album still stands as a classic
Paddy was a songwriter in the tradition from Gerschwin and Bacharach, so I'm not surprised that to hear Nightingales in a jazzy big band version.
This song - the Sprout version - saved me from depression.
It helps
Me too :)
Same for me.

@@mrmeg01 thank you so much. Very kind of you. I'm in a better place now. Still a long way to go.

There were many great groups around in the 80s that deserved the recognition of being underrated, some not even played on radio
Respect, I didn't had in my mind how great this tune really is...
What a beautiful rendition of a sublime song.
Oh m'y God! What a cover! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Wow, great arrangement, what a voice. I love it❤
This is superb. So classy. She sang it wonderfully too. One of my favourite Paddy songs. The key changes in it are mindblowing.
Chills n tingles
She's long had a big following in Sweden and Denmark (she normally sings in Swedish). One of many compelling Swedish soul/r'n'b singers :)
Such a great composer, beautifull song, bravo for this new version. I always recognized the jazz richness of Mc Aloon work.
I'm sure Paddy would chuffed to hear this.
Such a great rendition of a brilliant song. I want to hear more of Paddy's songs done this way now! Thanks for posting!
