This is a lovely rendition and vocal performance of a fantastic Paddy McAloon song. It almost works better as pure jazz ballad this way. The slower tempo emphasizes the beauty of the melody and chords.
I can't believe I've only just seen this, it's wonderful... Paddy actually wrote this for Barbra Streisand as one of his legendary "projects", an album of songs for other people to sing (similarly, "I Remember That" was meant for Ray Charles) I guess this as close as we'll get to a Streisand version! Thanks for posting 🙏
Wonderful version of this masterpiece of Paddy Mcaloon ,a genius melodist ! thank you so much ! (i am a drummer-composer i have played with the great jazz organist Rhoda Scott ).

Such a great composer, beautifull song, bravo for this new version. I always recognized the jazz richness of Mc Aloon work.
any song off that album still stands as a classic
So great that the music is so appreciated by those who don't even understand the band's name. A very nice version, though.
This charming version highlights the depth and genius of Paddy's songwriting.
Worthy!
Paddy was a songwriter in the tradition from Gerschwin and Bacharach, so I'm not surprised that to hear Nightingales in a jazzy big band version.
Cool as F.
