      A bloody grind, that, the maoris held the train station for awhile but needed a break, I think the poles then carried it up the middle for the win, good on them. The resolve a batallion of these men brings to their comrades a unique inspiration, as do the Gurkhas

      @@hoaniashton5147 28 Maori Battalion, 2NZEF. Four days after the end of the Maori part (23 March, 1944) in the 3rd battle of Monte Cassino. These men are a mix of tribes as some of the men do not know the items. The front row are clearly men of Ngāti Porou East Coast as the items Hitara Waha Huka (composed Oct, 1943) and the haka Ponga Ra are Ngati Porou classics. They are likely from a recently arrived reinforcement group as the battalion had been in Italy since Oct 1943. Think I could spy Padre Huata in the group, which makes sense as he had a group of troubadours (musicians and entertainers) that are accompanying the performance.
