Thanks for the video! I think another important point to mention for board exams is differentiating CML from leukemoid reaction using the leukocyte alkaline phosphatase test. The test will be normal to elevated in leukemoid react and decreased in CML.
I was diagnosed with CML in 2020 and my wbc has always stayed high. Yeah weeks ago I went and had my blood work done and I was at 247,000. I’m on Tasigna.
Thank you so much for this video. It just saved me. I'm about writing a hematology exam and CML is one of the major topics. Thank you once again,I'm definitely subscribing to your channel 😃😃
i was diagnosed with cml around the first of june, 2022. they put me on bosilif 400mg daily. now my white count is normal and my red blood cells are starting to increase too. i go to my cancer dr every three weeks.
@@malikdesilva6574No, you'd expect to see low RBC in CML because the blasts in the bone marrow start to suppress erythropoiesis which leads to splenomegali Her RBC is getting higher because she is responding to treatment
I was diagnosed with cml also in 2022. Was put on dasatinib however the diarrhea was to severe so now my Dr is switching me to bosulif. Have you had any diarrhea with this drug?
According to Rodak's Hematology, Platelets are actually Normal to Increased. This actually makes sense because thrombocytosis reflects the myeloproliferative nature of the disease
Very Good Presentation but i have noticed there is an error in Mature cell , Matured cell have small Nucleus to Cytoplasmic Ratio meaning the Cytoplasm occupies large space than Nucleus
Thank you for the video. i just can not understand why there can be either anemia or erytrocytosis in CML. How is it possible to have both conditions together ? I thought that the increase in RBC was due to increase in myeloid progenitors that will also give rise to RBC. But on the other side II understand that anemia is due to “lack of space” in the bone marrow. So that the cells need to be produce by the spleen and the liver. Thank you
Sometimes life just can't be explained. I know how you feel!! I have cml and Budd chiari syndrome. I also have anemia and Sydenham chorea. Sometimes we get screwed. Best wishes for your health
My wbc was at >440 when I was diagnosed. After infusions, it as rapidly decreased. Within a week I was down to 150. Still kicking it. Was just diagnosed about two weeks ago. So learning all I can about cml
Hi , could you please help me “ why in CML we have only WBCs high initially and later low RBCs and PLTs but never high RBC or PLTs considering the defect to be in either Hematopoietic stem cell or Myeloid stem cell”
And if you see in Polycythemia Vera the defect is in Myeloid stem cell with high tyrosine kinase activity leading to high RBCs (predominately) but high WBC and PLTs as well
I’m a 47 year old male, After getting a bone marrow biopsy procedure I was diagnosed with CML and put on a medication called Sprycel. Is CML réversible or is this for life? Also will this eventually turn into Leukemia or will this medication prevent that? Thanks
I too have CML and take Sprycel daily. From what my hematologist told me is that it is something that stays with you for life. He told me it’s manageable and I can expect to live a normal life with treatment. I went into full remission less than a year taking Sprycel.

Thanks for a simple explanation of the pathogenesis of CML! Great video!

its under myeloproliferative syndrome--->increse RBC

thank you! I was confused on why it was called chronic CML

Mature neutrophils are the multi lobed nuclei cells not the big immature things you point to...those look more blastic
Wonderful lecture 😍Thank you sir❤
Beautifully ❤️ and explained.. Thanks
Wonderful video. I love the use of outlines. Simple and straight to the point. Exam based 👏👏👏
Very informative. I concur

The blood cells probably die very fast so the production goes super high?
I am guessing. All I know is blood cells can have low oxygen in sickle cell anemia.😞
Who says there can be erythrocytes in CML, I've never heard of it
The way I was diagnosed was due to blood splotches in my eyes kept increasing, I finally got a Whole blood test. My WBC was 150.
Well I've been on Imatinib Mesylate 800 mg. My Hematologist. So my WBC are around 8, still fighting, living, breathing, & walking.

Excellent, thank you
You are welcome!
Doc in CML if WBC n NEUTROPHIL is Low How to increase them..pls Respond thankyou
Under what case a patient with blast cells
Thank you!
Thanks - one question. For CML is it normal to have low platelet? I thought it is more common to have high platelet (unlike other leukemia types)?
yeah like it happens coz over time the blasts overrun the normal population of platelets
Awesome... 👍
Thank you sir
Thank you
Thanks man
Dude this rocks
Awesome! Make more videos!

If WBC is 142000 and hemoglobin 8.5
The CML is curable or not
Hopefully it will cure, i m suffering with the same
I remember having my WBC around more than 200,000. Thankfully im doing amazing

I got a wbc count a little higher than normal now i saw i was getting testing for bcr abl what does that mean 🥺🥺🥺
That is done to differentiate between CML and a leukaemoid reaction, and bcr abl is positive only in CML.
