I was diagnosed with CLL 3 years ago at age 66 and am still in the watch & wait phase. My wife however was diagnosed with AML at age 44 and she died 7 months after diagnosis. Life can really suck sometimes.

Good clear introduction. As a person with CLL I do have a couple of comments. First, the constitutional symptoms you listed are actually used as a basis to start treatment. Second, during watch and wait a CLL patient has periodic CBC blood tests and visits with a hematologist/oncologist. The main things that the blood tests look for the rate on increase of the lymphoctye count and decreases in red cell and other white cell counts as well as the platelet count. Note that the RAI stages are not like other cancer stages in that RAI stages II and IV are not more severe or even advanced than lower stages. I was RAI stage IV for two years before I went into treatment.
Your discussion of treatment is very simplistic and rather out dated. FCR is almost a thing of the past and is currently only used for young patients that are not del 17p or Tp 53 mutated. Basically no one else gets FCR now. There are a number of other initial treatments for CLL such as Obinutuzumab and Venetoclax plus obinutuzumab. The treatment decision is actually quite complex.

I have had CLL for 25 years and am still at stage 0. The Vit D and Calcium is new to me. Never heard that before. My platelets do run below normal, but still doing great. I am super sensitive to insect bites and only recently heard from a dermatologist that CLL patients tend to over-react. I will not be treated aggressively if my status changes.

Thanks for the content and the clear but detailed explanation. This helps me understand what kind of leukemia the mother of my niece is going through and be more empathetic without going without tact or making her feeling even more sadnthan she's right now by asking her condition. Also I don't know if she can explain it as accurate as this video does. The mother of my niece has never been to close (my niece is like a mini me of myself and she's so smart and lovely and pretty) but the dynamic in her house emotionally speaking has worsened since her mom was diagnosed. I think her mother (has 40 y/o and is quite a rarely case of a younger patient with LLC) is in a seriously bad process with her grieve and coping. She is being hurtful and even abusive psychologically with my niece who is only 16. My niece never had a loving mother, instead a more productive and caring to provide mother; but since the diagnosis she has transformed from being kinda cold with her, to release her anger against her situation with my niece and it breaks my heart because instead of trying to cope with her daughter's love, be united and understand that her daughter is as scared or worse than her, she's just oblivious of addressing her emotions and the pain she inflict with her words and attitude. This girl is like my daughter, and I'm being as support her.

I've had CLL for over 10years. 5 years ago I did 6 months of chemo . I've been out of remission for 6 months. I'm only 55 and have all the symptoms of stage 4. I'm doing blood transfusions , immune globin transfusions and taking chemo. My doctor says we have other options if this treatment fails. I'm scared, 18 months to 3 years isn't long enough for me to see my grandchild grow up.

I have been diagnosed forat leasr 10 years and have generally ignored it. Now at 85 I am approaching the time for action perhaps wiith detailed CT scan shortly to look at my nodes in detail.
I refuse to take this disease as more than a nuisance which the way I also deal with my type 2 diabetes the same wa although I am now insulin controlled
I refuse to do other than take the advice of my consultants seriously.
This way I live a relatively normal existence. What will be will be and it's no good wlorrying.
