i like these stripped down bikes. I have the Electra Glide Standard. Everyone is just going to super customize it anyhow.... better to have a blank slate to start with.
Just looking this bike over reminds me of my first new Harley . It was an early '78 Superglide . Strictly a bare bones bike. 1200 cc, single gas tank, a speedo and kick start only. I paid $3200 for it at Utica Harley on route 12 in Utica , NY. Still have the sales receipt in my scrapbook.
Just a interesting tidbit on your purchase price back in 1978, According the site usinflationcalculator dot com in today’s dollars your bike super glide would cost $12,716.61
I upgraded the tail/brake light set up. Custom dynamics makes a led set up to add. Keep the original lights and add a brake and taillight assembly to the license plate frame.
You hit the point of this bike. It is a platform. If I had one, I think I would change the seat. (I am 6'1" also). But, that might be about it. The simplicity is what draws me to it. I really like this bike.
Going to test ride one Saturday, doesn't matter the year. Will buy one either new or pre-owned. I have a Yamaha Bolt which is like a metric version of a Sportster 883 and now I've outgrown it.
picked up mine on july 17, it is an awesome ride, was out riding at 4;00am on Sunday, but yes, needs the aftermarket pipes, just slip ons for now, probably V&H, had those on my Sportster and loved them
@Trevor Johnson on older and carborated Harleys no, but with the technology and computer systems in the bikes today, yes, at least thats what I'm gonna do
@Trevor Johnson seen a vid with Doc Harley and because of the computer system in the M8, it allows + or - 10% of air and fuel ratio, so no you dont have to
Me too. I love my 99 FXSTC. EVO's forever. The old ones have character. The new ones are nice, but just do not have the same feel as the EVO powered ones.
You got that right. Nothing on that bike starting with the tank looks right. They should have named it something else. FXST wanabe. But then, I am old school. I started riding when I was 14 on a 1942 Flat Head 45 back in 1955. Wish I still had her.
@@JoeJoe-su9lj No, definitely not. Unless you've ridden a dirt bike before or a 4 wheeler, and have an idea how throttle, brakes, clutch, gear lever work.
Was planning on getting a sport glide. But honoustly thinking of buying one of these and mod it. Tank swap, cruise controle forwards, leather pro bags. Sadleman seat+passenger pegs Maybe splurge on 2-1 jekyll and hyde exhaust. So instead of having a regular bike. Ive got a bike i can really call my own.
Needs a 5 gallon Fatbob tank, Weinermont FXR style fairing, passenger pegs, decent seat and a Zippers 468 cam with matching intake and tuner and finish it off with D&D 2 into 1 exhaust.
I'm looking hard at one of these, but I'm wondering how much it would cost to order in a Lowrider/Fat Boy/Sport Glide tank to replace the 3.5gallon on it. I need a 5gallon tank. I don't even need to hook up the speedo on the tank, just having a 5 gallon is important.
It would most likely be most cost effective and way easier to start with a Low Rider and go from there. They're essentially the same besides the tank, wheels, and other finishes.

So it comes in at just under 14. That means after tax, title, license, dealer prep, shipping and whatever else the dealer adds your looking 18 grand. Ride it off the lot it's now worth 12 and next year 8 and at two years old 6. I like it though but the market is flooded with great used Harleys.
Looks like a Dyna that got converted to a softail. It doesn’t have the long look of the old softail standards. Looks short wheelbased like a dyna. Now If they would sell them for the price of a compatible metric they would sell like hot cakes
No 5 gal tank? No forward controls? If you ordered a custom, you wouldn't have to spend several thousands to get what you really want after you bought this. No wonder Harley Davidson is declining... Their bikes are, so why not? I own a 2009 FXSTC Custom, real difference.
I love the softail standard it is really a good bike to customize I don’t really care of that it’s like the street Bob it’s like a Lotta different bikes there’s multiple models with the same frame same engine same forks so it doesn’t really matter eventually I will customize it to my liking getting the parts from the guys at Reno Harley Davidson John Jeff or Stephen they are a bunch of good guys down there go see him
Harley NEEDS to use this bike to combat Indian. Tell the public, "You can get a Indian Scout 100th Anniversary for $15,999. Or we'll sell you this 107 (1753cc) for $2000 LESS than they want for that 1100.
@@me-xz2xn 5 years ago I would agree. But Indians business practices have become pretty insulting. For example, a scout in any color other than black requires a $2000 brake upgrade. To get a challenger in any color other than gray you need to spend an additional $5500 on the dark horse model. This means Indian is quickly becoming the most expensive brand. I expect this to actually work against Indian. Harley meanwhile has been staying to move in the right direction by offering less expensive, more diverse models. Although their new CEO seems to be trying to reverse that decision, which would be disastrous for Harley... We'll see if either brand gets wise
Harley has been Hosing it’s Customers for years, too be honest , i’m glad it has finally caught up too them. With Indian, paying top dollar at least gets you a well built , more refined, more reliable, and definitely more powerful bike.
@@me-xz2xn there is no doubt that Harley had been doing things wrong. But right now, so is Indian. I'm really disappointed in what they have spent the last 5 year's doing. Harley earned a reputation for being overpriced by being the first brandto reach the price points they have, and by neglecting the beginner/intermediate market. They are cheaper than Indians. That's one of my issues. Japanese brands which used to absolutely kill Harley in value have also fallen out of the big twin category. The few remaining models that remain cost as much as a Harley. As a result, your only options are Harley, or the even more expensive Indian. It's hard to complain about the price of a competitor who is undercutting you. The scout is a direct competitor to the iron 1200. Liquid cooling makes so that despite the 100cc deficit it makes more power. The liquid cooling and smaller displacement should mean better fuel economy too but somehow it doesn't. Despite being in a lower category, the special edition scouts come closer to the price of the fact than anything else in Indians lineup. The 1100 scout claims to start at $11500. That gets you only black paint and no abs. Throw in abs and you're closer to the cost of the 1753cc fxst than to the iron 1200. Nothing about the scout justifies that cost. And it only gets worse as you go up their model range. Indian is doing right now what Harley was doing 10 years ago to lose customer loyalty the way they did
Who authorised that fuel tank design. It's revolting. ...... I can't stand any of the new fuel tank shapes. ... looks really cheap, like the old budget Yamaha virago 535. But Worse lol

What are the size of the tires compared to the street Bob?

Ellis Smith Jr tires are the same as the Street Bob.
No USB port on the standard. You would have to change the main harness or get the USB pigtail for $29
Looks like a big sportster with that tank and seat.
And bigger engine..
New Port Richy Florida, on 54 near 19

I think so too!
Wish the street bob was the same price. Should be it’s the same bike but blacked out 🤦♂️
Blacked out Finishes are more expensive to do and harder to not mess up. So they will cost more.
How much is it taxes and fees out the door ?
As a tall dude with king ass legs is the bike so short or small?
It needs a 5 gallon tank and bobtail fender like my 07. But still isn’t a bad looking bike. I wouldn’t kick it out of my garage!
Could u increase the rake and give it a long chopper look?
Would this be a good fit for a 6’2” 280lb guy ?
