This is a great channel Robin. I just saw it on FB and came here to watch it. I love your content. It is so helpful for people's health. Nature provides us with so much. How do you use roasted seaweed? Do you make it into a powder and then add it to food or just eat it as is?
Hi Lil!!! You can just sprinkle it on rice or powder it yup!
how do you recommend roasting these?
In the oven at 350F till they break like a cracker (ie. fully dry)
Are there any harvesting regulations/bag limits to foraging seaweed in BC? Also - I'm guessing it's best to go to the island or farther out from Vancouvers polluted waters huh?
Yes, go to areas with very good water quality away from marina's and urban centers. As far as know, there are very few limitations on recreational harvest of seaweed in BC. You aren't allowed to harvest bullwhip kelp by removing it when it's attached to the sea floor. Regardless, only harvest what you can process for you and a few friends and generally it's best to gather seaweed that looks in good condition washed up on the beach rather than attached.
Do we need to be mindful of how we harvest these 3 seaweeds to minimize the impact on the environment and future fellow foragers?
Yes definitely, it's great if you just harvest seaweeds that have been washed up on the beach that look in good condition for maximum sustainability.
