I too think that Gohar should have had a penalty point near the end for kicking the door. These decisions come down to a split second of movement or a few centimetres of trajactory. The video reviews are needed but not this behaviour from both players. I don't watch much football nowadays for the same reason. Too many disputes.
Yeah I think Gohar really needs to work on clearing out for her opponent's path to the ball. This was hard to watch. Not impressed. Gohar kicking the court wall like she is an amateur gone wild and the ref doing a terrible job. Give me a break.
the refereeing on the PSA tour is destroying the sport at the professional level, which unfortunately has a trickle-down effect on the sport in general - racquet hits stem from the 'play through any and all interference' preference invoked by the modern refereeing, previously such incidents were few and far between, but now get to come in play a lot more often due to the fact that players have to take up the shots, which otherwise they would've stopped and asked a LET for - which is unfortunate, because this puts their safety at risk I'm pretty sure that the refereeing throughout this match was abysmal, as I have only seen these highlights, but to award a 'NO LET' on match ball for THAT particular shot, which is clearly not a winner, is basically a mid length lunge away from El Hammamy coming in, and has Gohar standing on it is; shameful - having said that, the 'YES LET' on the shot previous was a 'STROKE' on any given day and twice on Sunday - but then again, two wrongs don't make a right, so do what you want with that information I've been harping on about the shameful refereeing policies on the PSA for a while now, and I have to admit that with the Men's and the Women's matches now reaching this kind'a crescendo, in terms of ridiculously bad refereeing & insolence on part of the players, towards not only the referees, but also their opponents, negates a lot of the inspiring values the sport innately proclaims to instil I remain in awe of the the athleticism, skill and tenacity of these splendid athletes & will always love this beautiful sport, but I cannot endorse the spectacle that's been made out of it lately, in the hopes of it finding perhaps a wider audience, which either way is not guaranteed - for the PSA tour predominantly still functions via the personal interest of a handful of folks at the top of the corporate ladder and NOT on the endorsements of the corporations themselves I was moved in to writing this down after merely viewing the 'highlights' of this match. I shudder at the thought of having to sit through this match with such inconsistent refereeing and the behaviour/on court conduct of the players mirroring that of a local joint's cock fight (oh the irony here) This kind'a of an 'after-taste' left with the viewer does NOT encourage more viewership by the general enthusiastic squash follower. Yes it MAY have the impact the PSA hopes it would have upon perhaps someone new to the game, or for someone who is looking to add more 'spice' to their viewing experience, which the PSA can't be faltered for - the only problem with marketing that kind of an experience is; the PSA will constantly have to ramp up the aggressive tangent to keep that segment of the audience engaged With the current official practices of the sport already dwindling in to dangerous territory (in terms of on-court safety for the players), and the the quality (or lack there of) of refereeing/officiating swindling players who make, not just their names, but also their living via this sport; is unremarkable to say the least - so pushing it beyond this point, in the hopes of keeping that viewership intact will, I believe in the long term come at a cost that the PSA won't be able to bare I believe the fans have the responsibility to raise their voice, to help steer this situation in the right direction, because no one seems to be awake at the wheel here...
I started watching this match wanting Gohar to win but changed my mind by the end (of course it might be different had I seen the whole thing). The last call was bad, but was obviously a makeup call for the non-stroke before it.
I watched both matches live and it became unwatchable because of the deliberate bumping and decisions required. The ladies match had over 50 decisions in it and gohar copied the asal playbook. How both asal and gohar did not get conduct strokes. Very weak refereeing killing the game.
Sherbini might have a higher variety of strokes & probably deemed more superior technically, but Gohar is a good watch as her aggressiveness is simply exhilarating 😆😆🥳🥳
Too much drama from Nouran. She must be banned from the Tour kicking the glass wall like that. She is intimidating her opponent since the beginning of the match
I see what you mean about her kicking the glass being unacceptable but I can see why she did it. The decisions were mostly in favor of Hania and there was a lot of bias from the VR calls. And honestly, hania was also intimidating Nouran, I mean Gohar had to go out for medical treatment because Hania didn't asses the situation before playing the ball and ended up hitting Nouran in the face with her racket. It would have been a stroke, and she didn't have to put her opponent at risk of harm. So, honestly, it was dirty play from both the players.

Players who scream or shout after a winning shot, in my opinion, lack confidence. They fear their opponent and thus just want to rattle their opponents physiologically with screams and shouts LOL. I like players who are quietly determined, meaning they have FULL confidence in themselves and their abilities - these are the real players to fear, they only scream at end of winning a set,and not at every point trying to whip up crowd sentiment to help boost her weak armour.
I think it is very effective when you're at a lower level, but at that level they don't care. I watched a guy try SO hard to rattle a Division A player in our league, and not only did he not care, he thrashed the guy. Meanwhile, I would've lost my mind and tinned everything, haha.
Indeed, the rally where Gohar got whacked in the nose and didn’t even flinch. I can think of some men competitors that would be on the floor crying after that.
If this was tennis gohar would have had a point penalty or been disqualified because she could have broken that glass and could have injured someone, anyone else agree?
No one would have been injured. Unless that caused the whole court to fall apart. Which obviously would be the fault of the contractors since people could crash into the walls and bring it down if u could kick it down so easily. She's just acting in the moment in childish frustration. Nothing too wrong about that as her displeasure wasn't really directed at any particular person but the decision.
Last point was a stroke, all eyes on you now PSA seriously what is happening to this sport, we need you to start taking actions, replacing refs and getting fresh blood to the sport. In this game Gohar was the Asal of women.
This referee needs to retire !!!! Look at 5th set at 10-11, DEFINITELY A STROKE ! Cans till call for video referee and get awarded a LET !! What a disc=grace. We should investigate the referee for bias. Hammany is a disgrace also, trying to get a cheap stroke at the final point. Thats why she can NEVER be a champ.
There was two rallies there. I assume you mean the second one. If so, I agree completely. The first one I didn’t think was a let, so Gohar had to essentially win the match three times, the irony being the point she actually won was the one she shouldn’t have gotten. So three championship points, all three wrong.
@@ewallt Tbh I only think the second match ball decision was a stroke to Gohar. The first was way too loose, I know certain players who would shove Gohar and manufacture a stroke, but if Hammamy didn't lose balance I would still think it's a stroke. Last call Gohar's "winner" wasn't short enough, doesn't make sense to go in front of Gohar and having to move backwards after just to play the ball. Gohar was very lucky to win off that decision, should have been Let at the least.
John Mazzarella has spent too much time in the sun. How was it a no let on match ball? Gohar should have been awarded a conduct stroke against for her hysterical behaviour

In general i believe El Hammany is a better technical player all round, she will become No1 at some point. I myself have been playing the game for nearly 40 years now and at a national level in the uk, back the days when the Pakistan and Australia men rules the game was far more fair and technical play. Referees of today are worried how the players react and not managing the game as per the regulations Ladies the same for me they would not compete with the likes of Nicole Davies in her day
Gohar behaves unprofessional! This behaviour should be punished by the referee in whatever way... No fair play, no respect towards Hammamy, spectators, referee, screaming, shouting the glass, at the end no apologies for this behaviour... I am so sorry by looking at this, this should not be the SQUASH!!!
Urgent action needs to be taken to REPLACE the two embarassingly low-level commentators who, by their inane comments and primitive noises, spoiled my enjoyment of the match:((
Terrible two last video ref calls... The first should have been a stroke to Gohar, no doubt about it, Hammamy stepped right into her line to the ball and hindered her shot... And the second should have been a stroke (maybe a let) to Hammamy as Gohar backed into her line to the ball which was gettable. Great match though... Real fighting between the two.
@@watching99134... Well... In this case... But if she'd lost after getting the break with the second call it wouldn't have, because the first call would have won her the match. Unfortunately bad calls don't really cancel out anything... They just add a third player to the match and make things more frustrating for the players.
@@watching99134... Yeh, I guess you're not understanding what I'm saying... Calls don't cancel out anything... A ref can't correct himself with another call... That's not how the game works... But, hey... It's all good.
@@ewallt I expect any matchbwith that many decisions is going to be a referees nightmare. A matchbwith that many decisions tells you 1 of two things 1. The referee lost control of the match or 2. The quality of play was terrible and the referees lost control of the match.
Would be easier if the next match between Hania and Nouran is decided MMA style in an Octagon 😊. I think that Nouran's overall conduct and sportsmanship is worse than Asal's.
I used to like Gohar a lot, but her behaviour when she plays Hammamy has been really problematic, especially as she is world number one. It is like she does not have a decision on her side, she is going to die !! The conduct stroke should have been a stroke to her, because frankly she did not push that much Hammamy. But to look at Masarella like "I did not do anything wrong" without just helping Hammamy to stand up sooner might affected the decision. Concerning the refereeing, there must be deep changes in the principles. It is impossible that with the help of the video there are that many wrong decisions. On the last two points, there are two evident strokes : - first one : although Hammamy tries to escape, her ball quality is too poor and she is in Gohar motion - second one : ball is not rolling, Hammamy is on it, prepared, and Gohar is on her path to the ball I will not mention the other ones (too many), because those two were at key times. Ok, it might be two quick for Masarella or Santa Maria (!) but in the future (really short, please !) the process of decision making (ball quality, intent of the striker, effort from the previous strikerto clear the direct path to the ball) should be detailed every time, so it would help keeping the situation under control.

The video reviews are needed but not this behaviour from both players. I don't watch much football nowadays for the same reason. Too many disputes.
4:26 The contact was at the far end of the swing and had no impact on the shot. Why a stroke?
Yeah I think Gohar really needs to work on clearing out for her opponent's path to the ball. This was hard to watch. Not impressed. Gohar kicking the court wall like she is an amateur gone wild and the ref doing a terrible job. Give me a break.
I hope there friends off the court.. 2 fantastic players for sure
THEY HATE EACH OTHER HAHAHAHA
In these kind of matches it is never the players’ fault they must be competitive at that level . It is the awful refereeing.
Congratulations nouran 🎉🥰 .Well deserved ❤
the refereeing on the PSA tour is destroying the sport at the professional level, which unfortunately has a trickle-down effect on the sport in general - racquet hits stem from the 'play through any and all interference' preference invoked by the modern refereeing, previously such incidents were few and far between, but now get to come in play a lot more often due to the fact that players have to take up the shots, which otherwise they would've stopped and asked a LET for - which is unfortunate, because this puts their safety at risk
I'm pretty sure that the refereeing throughout this match was abysmal, as I have only seen these highlights, but to award a 'NO LET' on match ball for THAT particular shot, which is clearly not a winner, is basically a mid length lunge away from El Hammamy coming in, and has Gohar standing on it is; shameful - having said that, the 'YES LET' on the shot previous was a 'STROKE' on any given day and twice on Sunday - but then again, two wrongs don't make a right, so do what you want with that information
I've been harping on about the shameful refereeing policies on the PSA for a while now, and I have to admit that with the Men's and the Women's matches now reaching this kind'a crescendo, in terms of ridiculously bad refereeing & insolence on part of the players, towards not only the referees, but also their opponents, negates a lot of the inspiring values the sport innately proclaims to instil
I remain in awe of the the athleticism, skill and tenacity of these splendid athletes & will always love this beautiful sport, but I cannot endorse the spectacle that's been made out of it lately, in the hopes of it finding perhaps a wider audience, which either way is not guaranteed - for the PSA tour predominantly still functions via the personal interest of a handful of folks at the top of the corporate ladder and NOT on the endorsements of the corporations themselves
I was moved in to writing this down after merely viewing the 'highlights' of this match. Yes it MAY have the impact the PSA hopes it would have upon perhaps someone new to the game, or for someone who is looking to add more 'spice' to their viewing experience, which the PSA can't be faltered for - the only problem with marketing that kind of an experience is; the PSA will constantly have to ramp up the aggressive tangent to keep that segment of the audience engaged
With the current official practices of the sport already dwindling in to dangerous territory (in terms of on-court safety for the players), and the the quality (or lack there of) of refereeing/officiating swindling players who make, not just their names, but also their living via this sport; is unremarkable to say the least - so pushing it beyond this point, in the hopes of keeping that viewership intact will, I believe in the long term come at a cost that the PSA won't be able to bare
I believe the fans have the responsibility to raise their voice, to help steer this situation in the right direction, because no one seems to be awake at the wheel here...
Finally 🎉
I started watching this match wanting Gohar to win but changed my mind by the end (of course it might be different had I seen the whole thing). The last call was bad, but was obviously a makeup call for the non-stroke before it.
Bonkers ❤
@@Sara-lu5tvoh she deserves getting hit by Hania because she blocked hania from hitting the ball. If Hania didnt hit the ball, she will lose that point. It is Nouran false for standing in front of her. Hania still showed respect to Nouran as opponent but not Nouran. Kicking the wall really unacceptable. It is shameful and embarrassing
Gohar's "Who me?" body language during every single review makes me want to swallow my own tongue
10:15-10:30 gohar says "go home ha"
Players who scream or shout after a winning shot, in my opinion, lack confidence. They fear their opponent and thus just want to rattle their opponents physiologically with screams and shouts LOL. I like players who are quietly determined, meaning they have FULL confidence in themselves and their abilities - these are the real players to fear, they only scream at end of winning a set,and not at every point trying to whip up crowd sentiment to help boost her weak armour.
Agreed. I like how El Sherbini handles herself
But it all got like fashion so everyone does it, even the warrior princess vs Gohar in semifinals
I think it is very effective when you're at a lower level, but at that level they don't care. I watched a guy try SO hard to rattle a Division A player in our league, and not only did he not care, he thrashed the guy. Meanwhile, I would've lost my mind and tinned everything, haha.
have you never had an adrenaline rush before while playing?
Stroke decision at 4:30: Hammamy played it. Gohal made a return. Should have been a Let?
Love the rivalry between these two but that was next level 😂 Fierce competitors
Indeed, the rally where Gohar got whacked in the nose and didn’t even flinch. I can think of some men competitors that would be on the floor crying after that.
new Gohar fan after this one
very personal between those two
what a joke, you allow Gohar to block, complain non stop to the ref, open the door, kick the door, and no conduct stroke???????
Congrats to Hania 👏🏻
Gohar was backing up into Hamammy’s line the whole match
Is there any conflict between them? Very tough game.
Yes, they have a history. There was one match where one hit the other with the ball on a cross court. Maybe both. They’re both very tough.
I wonder if they hate each other in real life like in the court. They sure always deliver amazing matches.
Porque no ponen el juego completo?
Gracias ❤
Hammamy was the real winner
Is it difficult to establish a culture of recognizing and respecting rivals in this sport? Of course I love squash more than any other sport.
Nope
Great match - (not a great handshake) - glad I didn't have to sit through all those decisions! But some super intense points from both to be sure
You're right about the first (was a stroke) but wrong about the second (also a stroke but denied because it was a makeup call).
Such a wonderful match of squash compared to the men's final. I really enjoy their rivalry!
Dreadful to watch, refereeing was some of the worse I have ever seen
Lmao what the f was this match.. these two love colliding so much they should be a couple
Should have been 2 conduct strokes against Asal.....i mean Gooseha
John Mazzarella has spent too much time in the sun. How was it a no let on match ball? Gohar should have been awarded a conduct stroke against for her hysterical behaviour
To be fair, Hammamy was as hysterical and she started it much earlier.
It was a makeup call.
Very happy for Gohar!
are you kidding that was a literal disaster by her. All the antics resemble Asal.
Why condone blatant cheating on a forum promoting the sport? Referees and coaches aren't solely responsible for the cultural of squash! Call it for what it is and make it unacceptable.
What a match 🔥 between the two.
PrOfEsSiOnAl sPoRt
Absolut scandal, last call was at least a let, to me even a stroke. 😮
It was a makeup call.
Hammamy is way more interesting than the power of gohar
Gohar + Asal = Olympics - squash
The fights were as entertaining as the game 😂
Jesus that was just bitter from both... hits her opponent in the face, no apology, just immediately tried to justify her movement. The other kicking the door, screaming. That seemed like a kids match...
In general i believe El Hammany is a better technical player all round, she will become No1 at some point.
I myself have been playing the game for nearly 40 years now and at a national level in the uk, back the days when the Pakistan and Australia men rules the game was far more fair and technical play.
Referees of today are worried how the players react and not managing the game as per the regulations
Ladies the same for me they would not compete with the likes of Nicole Davies in her day
15.08 stroke in my book
😂😂😂😂😂 wow
Gohar behaves unprofessional! This behaviour should be punished by the referee in whatever way... No fair play, no respect towards Hammamy, spectators, referee, screaming, shouting the glass, at the end no apologies for this behaviour... I am so sorry by looking at this, this should not be the SQUASH!!!
That's a poor poor finish. Both men and women's finals have had too many referee decisions. Two very poor finals to watch I feel.
death by a thousand cuts describes her (lack of) movement. eventually it will take its toll on your opponent.
Disgusting by Gohar. Really wanted Hammamy to win because of Gohar's antics.
A match? That was a dog fight!
Urgent action needs to be taken to REPLACE the two embarassingly low-level commentators who, by their inane comments and primitive noises, spoiled my enjoyment of the match:((
Longest match but also the worst match. Nothing attractive about this at all.
Yes, which is why the second call cancelled out the first.
But, hey... It's all good.
over 55 decisions... I'd love to see the stats on that... such sloppy play.
Not the play. The refereeing.
@@ewallt I expect any matchbwith that many decisions is going to be a referees nightmare. A matchbwith that many decisions tells you 1 of two things 1. The referee lost control of the match or 2. The quality of play was terrible and the referees lost control of the match.
This reminds me of rivary between shorbagy and ramy, such high quality
why 10 all was not deuce
Would be easier if the next match between Hania and Nouran is decided MMA style in an Octagon 😊.
I think that Nouran's overall conduct and sportsmanship is worse than Asal's.
worse than Asals? Not even close.
At 2nd set 3-1, referee blunder yet again as he did with other matches. He should retire totally !
On the last two points, there are two evident strokes :
- first one : although Hammamy tries to escape, her ball quality is too poor and she is in Gohar motion
- second one : ball is not rolling, Hammamy is on it, prepared, and Gohar is on her path to the ball
I will not mention the other ones (too many), because those two were at key times.
Ok, it might be two quick for Masarella or Santa Maria (!) but in the future (really short, please !) the process of decision making (ball quality, intent of the striker, effort from the previous strikerto clear the direct path to the ball) should be detailed every time, so it would help keeping the situation under control.
Wow, that refereeing. Wow.
