That counterattack by Gawad at 8:39 has got to be shot of the month. Tense moment in the match, incredible rally, and an absolutely perfect execution off of a decent attack from Elias.

I agree, but.... if he so much as touches the ball on the initial attempt, its over. He had good fortune 3-4 times in this match, which may have made some difference, but 3 games straight is convincing!!! Glad to see his talent back!!!

When Gawad is on form and fired up then he is almost unbeatable, Its so good to see him playing again after the injuries.
That was exceptional squash - looking forward to seeing him in the next stage. He doesn't look that athletic, but he moves incredibly fast, absolutely took Elias apart, which is hard to imagine.

I am recovering from an achilles tendon rupture. Seeing Gawad play like this is motivating me to get back to squash.

Something I notice Gawad does is he’s careful to make every shot opportunity a multiple threat, which is difficult to play against. It’s hard to relax. For example, many squash players, almost all, set up in the back court for the forehand in such a way that it’s clear they’re going to hit a cross court. Gawad sets up in such a way that he can go either down the line or cross court. That’s one example, but every shot is like that. He’d be exhausting to play against.
Jahangir Khan is another that comes to mind. I asked a pro, my age, so old, who the most difficult opponent he faced, and he said Jehangir. I asked why, and he said “He was always square to the ball.” Being square to the ball gives you lots of options.
Tbh I really don't see that. If we're just talking about deep forehand setup, all the pros in top 200 can do a micro-adjustment with their wrist right before contact to go either cross or straight. Gawad's most devastating shot by far is the high preparation backhand drop, which is almost unreadable. But everything else I don't think it's super deceptive, it's just his incredible skill level and having multiple shot options at key positions on the court.
