For 2 years theres been bitching and no collective movement to change as a community. Be a host. Be a blue. Be a random summon at the summon pool. Be the type of player you would want to invade. Abandon this dogshit mentality that this is a competitive fighting game. These games never have been, and approaching ER that way is the source of your frustration. Ive been running cute silly builds, summon one random guy and tt, then i clear an ENTIRE level from beginning to end. I make sure i move towards mobs and dont just stand somewhere like a fucking loser dropout arena duelist. I win sometimes, i die sometimes but overall its fun. All of these "issues" with pvp went right out the window now that i facilitate the type of invasion i would want to participate in. If my phantom dies while theres 2 invaders i turn on blues, then turn it off if a red dies. Given i have an opportunity to do so. We have more control over the multiplayer system than ever before but ppl just are too scared to try new things or are waiting for their fav youtuber to tell them how to enjoy the game. Its time to climb out of the pigeon hole and take advantage of the options available to us. As a host i allocate flasks to mitigate that advantage, as a phantom i make sure to avoid using flasks as much as possible and use hp/fp recovery items and gear. I keep a nasty setup handy just in case, but i try not to use it even if its justified. As a blue i try to assist reds dealing with afk hosts/griefers, if its a proper 2v2 ill fight, otherwise i jump off a cliff and deliver flasks. Since TT takes priority, use it. Outnumber the grace goblins and afk farmers. Be the type of host and phantom you wanna invade in the lands between.
Based, brother💯 I have been telling this around that this is a PvE game with a BONUS of PvP, not the other way around. Instead of forcing "balancing" Dark Souls or Elden Ring series, it's better if From made an exclusive PvP game (or series) like WoW, PUBG, and so on. With that mindset, From's business can be diversified into adding exclusive servers, dedicated admins, and so on. But not with the current "economy." I can only say, as of now that, enjoy or make do with what we have atm.
Complete nonsense. Your ideal is a complete utopia and it not only blames 20m+ players for playing more than the half of the game that isn't nonsense, it blames 20m+ players for their inherent inability to police the least homogenous playerbase possible. Think about the percentage of the population that will even give your idea the time of day. And when you say that there have been no community movement... Where was your attention when endless detailled translated feedback, websites and game changing mods were thrown at fromsoft ? It is and always will be the dev's problem and the dev's JOB. You can try and simulate good mechanics as a host, but you don't realize it is exactly what you think it isn't... A pigeon hole. Even if 100% of the population agrees, now you play half a game.
Yeah I’ve always just been an invader but I’ve started my first ever PlayStation character and I’ve been making an effort to summon and use a TT every time I playthrough one of the legacy dungeons. It’s been a lot of fun but it makes me even more upset realizes how toxic some of these people must be when they can ruin something as simple as just doing what I’m doing with their nasty ganker ways
@@thepainphantomGood god From would never. If you think the pvp community complains a lot NOW, imagine if there was a game dedicated to pvp only? The devs would be hounded day and night to balance the game. No one would ever be satisfied with the final product.

If you take out hyperarmor on slow weapons you need to give them access to an unreactable attack in their kit. Or else you can just reaction punish their attacks with a fast weapon. Adding more uncancellable recovery to the roll animation might be decent for pvp in regards to it being a band-aid solution for latency but I think it would be a negative for PvE since boss movesets would need to be toned down to accomodate. Punishing the player for whiffing is a bad idea that rewards passivity and punishes aggression. Staling is a band-aid solution for weapons not having a variety of viable moves in their kits. And in the case that movesets aren't well designed it punishes weapons with only one viable move in their kit.
Another huge change would be more recovery across the board, specially on fast set ups with stun and good damage like thrusting sword, bhb, ect. Spam is horrible in this game and its too easy to get away with it unpunished.
I fking despise UGS matchups. Each time I face people using UGS, I'm forced to switch to either halberds, thrust fists, or daggers just to fight them effectively. Or I dunno. Perhaps there is a good counter I don't know about
Unsheath always worked for me with the uchi if you are a katana user, and the great katana seems to match up well. Also claymores reach and r2 thrusts can get them. If you are a faith spell caster, wrath of gold hurts them. And if you are a str build yourself, and have good armor, you can trade or out do them with colossal or great hammers.
firstly, I agree that the projectile spam in open fields suck (and I invade in seamless with goddamn horses and it is infuriating, all the mages just hop on their steed and cast as they run around) but I feel like elden ring without open world would just be dark souls 4. I like the open world aspects of the game, and I feel that instead of making it a full dungeon crawler, maybe they could try to decrease the issues caused by open world instead of removing it entirely. maybe have the story areas be closer together, or increase the amount of teleports, but leave the open world. your second point is one I agree with, I miss older games where everything was a bit slower and had more impact. Such as Street Fighter 2, which was slow, and telegraphed, but was easier to read and understand. sure, making the gameplay faster could make it “more exciting” or “Realistic” but I think having to substitute a controller for your body distances your senses enough from the game that a slower game can be deserved.

So my opponent is using a dagger, and can just knock me out of any of my gugs attacks on reaction bc no hyper armor, but on the off chance that I seriously outplay them and manage to land one of my slow ass attacks with no hyper armor, then what, I just slam them with some 1k damage true combo for half their hp? Like I'm sorry jager, but that has gotta be the worst take you've ever dropped imo lol. The gugs player in this scenario is forced to play SOOO passive to have the slightest chance, which is boring for both parties involved, and when they finally do manage to get a hit in, its gonna be some true combo for ridiculous damage, and have you played elden ring? Damage being too high is a big part of the problem with pvp. I'd waaay prefer what we have now that allows people to monkey mash, what youre purposing would lead to big weapons being both super trash and just objectively worse that fast weapons, but also crazy annoying to fight, because a single mistake will mean taking some true combo for huge damage.

PVE related. No one complains about this often, but the cheap shots. The cheap shots are infuriating. By cheap shots I mean all the instances where enemies are hidden out of view and attack you when you approach corners, bushes, ect. Only on a few occasions did the devs program enemies to have a short wind up so that you can, you know, RESPOND to an ambush. I play offline because I got sick of cycling through prompts because some horses arse wants to leave messages in front of every single ladder and every fog wall. So I miss out on the actual useful messages that warn other players of ambushes. Someone over at From just said to hell with the “fair” part of “tough but fair”. We’ve ALL took a hit from the dog waiting in the bush at Castle Ensis. Did that feel fair? Were we just supposed to anticipate that there’s a freaking dog waiting in ambush at some random point? Wouldn’t it feel a bit more fair if there was like some kind of audio cue or something as we approach? Elden Ring is filled with ambushes like this. Sometimes the devs are generous enough to allow you to spot them if you’re paying attention, but a lot of times they just screw you. It’s definitely not the biggest issue, but I think it’s unfair at times.

There is never a combat, either PvE or PvP where you truly only have 1 viable option, there is always different things to do
1 hit kills should be exclusively for parry/ripostes only. No more 60000 damage from insane setups.
This and special charged heavy attacks that are hard to land like the Helix Halberd in ds2 or transformed stake driver in bb
Based, brother💯
I have been telling this around that this is a PvE game with a BONUS of PvP, not the other way around. Instead of forcing "balancing" Dark Souls or Elden Ring series, it's better if From made an exclusive PvP game (or series) like WoW, PUBG, and so on. With that mindset, From's business can be diversified into adding exclusive servers, dedicated admins, and so on. But not with the current "economy."
I can only say, as of now that, enjoy or make do with what we have atm.
Hell yea, be the change u wanna see brother.

And in the case that movesets aren't well designed it punishes weapons with only one viable move in their kit.
ultra and greatsword parry aows and bringing back the gaurd-break button move (instead of making it an aow) would be nice
Covenants!
firstly, I agree that the projectile spam in open fields suck (and I invade in seamless with goddamn horses and it is infuriating, all the mages just hop on their steed and cast as they run around) but I feel like elden ring without open world would just be dark souls 4.

How about not giving me ridiculous ass requirements for weapons that I get 3 hours into the game (pls Miyazaki Godrick's Axe and Carian Regal septer dont need to have a total of 70 fucking levels to be balanced). Also can we reduce the damage on everything by like 20% and maybe let spears be not shit and also maybe maybe if youre going to keep poise the way it is can we let heavy ass not butt ugly sets not have right under the required amount of poise to be playable in pvp?
Hot take: Armor weight and
roll type should be its own system that isnt increased by a stat or at the most have a stat requirement. That way heavy armor can have much better stats as a trade off for slower movement without having to balance it for high endurance medium roll.

There wont be a elden ring 2
I'm trying my best to imagine how a gugs without hyper armor but can reliably true combo would be any fun at all to use or play against.
@@illwillpress100 there is no way you just typed this. It is insanely easy for any build to tank one, two, or even three dagger R1s before staggering. GUGS is long, roll catches easily, and has an amazing moveset. It literally could have no hyper armor AND no true combos and still be amazing. Being passive with GUGS isn't hard. Being aggressive with GUGS isn't hard. Hyper armor ruined the fun in fighting half of the weapons in the game. Their movesets these days are so fast that all of them work without hyper armor. Respectfully you are wrong
@@SgtJager00 R2. Dagger R2. Dude dagger, sham, ts, ss, whatever, without its hyper armor gugs just get destroyed, and your solution of giving the no ha gugs r1 true combos just makes it really annoying and promotes both players to be overly passive
@@illwillpress100 he would obviously take down the damage for starters (he probably felt that didn't need to be said since it's a given at this point)
Your first change is so reductive, maybe there is a way to make expansive world interesting, while still having legacy dungeons that don’t feel isolated, fromsoft has clearly been experimenting evidently by the differences between the base game and dlc
Not saying your idea would not make the game better, but it’s just ds3, see reductive
After watching all this most of them are reductive af, I do feel for the pvp players tho, fromsoft has to choose between sacrificing pve gameplay to help pvp, which I don’t think is a smart move
