I agreee... But they REALLY overdid it on some weapons. I can't find any justification to make the KGS R2 as fast as the R1 but with frame 4 hyper armor.

They need to nerf the regular collosal. I noticed that any collosal similiar to the guts weapon has a broken exploit where they can crouch cancel poke repeatedly and the crouch poke is faster then variants that have royal great sword and similiar to maliketh sword neither of them matcht he speed and abuse that the greatsword collosal does they fr need to nerf that specific collosal and any other that shares its animation.

the last thing Elden Ring needs is more melee buffs, magic builds are a joke

This patch didn't even do anything.... ugs still suck and have slow recovery Greatswords still suck and are just a Knowledge check setup Axes still suck Halaxe is still top tier Psss is still top tier Psgs is still good Starfists are still Top tier So the dueling scene and competitive Scene of this game didn't change at all the only thing that was decent to this patch was the nerf To bhb dmg but bhb is still bs to fight because of how fast recoverys Are So yeah this patch Sucks and didn't really change/Do anything important.... Recoverys are still shit (to fast) for setups like psss CS Dmg is still way to high Connections are unplayable HA Is still overturned And finally stamina Consumption is still very forgiving and implies skilless mashing because u can get away with just mashing... Dear god yall players really only care fun instead of the importance of pvp... such as recoversy/Stam consumption/spacing/passivity/optimisation/mind games/skill

I'm still not sure how do i feel about it, R2 being faster is good, but being as fast as R1 feels weird. R2 into R1 and vice versa means poise is more important than ever (i dunno about hyper armor tho.

I'm 1:30 into the vid at the time of commenting this, but in a similar vein to heavy attacks, I have something to say about offensive weapon skills, incantations, and sorceries, which is that almost if not virtually all of them should have a startup time no slower than a light or heavy attack depending on the spell/skill in question. The fact that so many, besides the faster sorceries and some other outliers I guess, have very telegraphed and *too* reactable startups is a truly massive detriment to their viability in PVP which I cannot overstate. The drawback to using them already exists in the form of an FP cost. They don't need an additional counterbalance by making them even slower than basic attacks. If the spell/skill is "too strong" to warrant decreasing its startup time, then simply increase the FP cost instead. Double, triple, or even quadruple it for all I care depending on what spell/skill it is. Idk if I'm in the minority but this has been an astronomical gripe of mine ever since the game came out, and I believe it's a seriously flawed design philosophy that needs to die.

Lies of P had excellent heavy attacks that made you make full use of the moveset, this is an excellent change.

7:10, *cries in mantis blade*, no seriosly, i thought it would become better after the patch, i mean is better but the fact that the attack doesn't do a lv 2 hitstun it's almost useless against smashers, especially against hyperarmor players. the best thing you can do is to land the heavy running attack before performing the neutral heavy, so in that way you'll preven getting "outplayed".

R2s have always been good the mixup timing and extra hitstun they provide have always had a place in a moveset in patch 1.09 for instance the r2 was only way to break passive poise with a straight sword so it was always in your best interest to use the r2. And incase you didnt know sword and board has always been viable

I dont PvP i like exploration, messing with different weapons and builds and having fun 😊

I always use R2s for my mixup playstyle, having more viable R2s is phenomenal

gugs r2 is fairly close to the standard colossal sword r1 speed unironically, i've been throwing them out randomly and it just chunks

I love the r2 buffs!!!! I have always known r2s need love to make every weapon truly viable, but I thought more root motion the answer. The speed increase is fantastic because they can still be just as slow and timed to mixup with light attacks, but now can be just as threatening on their own. Most r2s still have barely any root motion and can't cash out on delayed timing roll catches because the opponent will be out of range. With good root motion, any weapon in the game can be truly, truly viable. Its telling that most of the r2's that were already well used either had good root motion (claymore/1h greatswords) or an early release to uncharged window (Start-Fists/Pata/Katar/Caestus) which now matches the buffed r2s. I don' think people should be afraid of more root motion on r2s. If curved swords had good r2 root motion, shamshir wouldn't be the only curved sword people actually use. The non shamshir moveset r1 has a very similar starting animation as the r2, almost like they were designed to mixup with each other. The only problem now with the move is that you can get people to roll early and time a perfect roll catch, but unless they roll directly into you, the attack misses. Miséricorde r2 has a short root motion, but is lightning fast so it doesn't need to be touched. If as you suggest GUGS gets a slower r2, it needs more root motion to compensate so it can cash out on roll catches. I want to see weapons like mantis blade shine, as right now, the r2 feels much better because it isnt so slow, but lacks the ability to hit anything because it moves almost nowhere as the attack comes out. If the r2 had root motion, it could legitimately mix people up. It may not be as strong as shamshir, but that isn't the point, we want functional weapons across the board, after we can think of meta and tier lists.

Like most of the patches it hasn't quite done enough. For instance: Epee 2h R2. Poised up Greatsword users can still just mash 2h R1 after being hit by it and it's an optimal punish. It feels so so dumb. My copium tells me FromSoft does eventually plan to nerf this stuff (actually nerf it not the fake nerf it got in 1.11 or 1.12, whichever it was) but patch by patch they're stringing along these DS3 morons who only rely on trading with GS/CGS because it's best strat for their high latency. But I'm starting to lose hope. Maybe they're a more important demographic than people who want skilled PvP.

The only thing faster than the new r2 releases are my cumshots for each time i busted to the new r2's
