As an old gear head that has hot rods to motorcycles and everything mechanical running on Dino juice. I started looking at these and decided to buy one and jumped into the ev world. My First ever Chevy The 15 volt I bought is in beautiful condition and the engineering and quality that went into building these are amazing. Best used car that is the ultimate energy tinkering automobile around🇺🇸

@@Wheelgauge-bt7ox myself is a gearhead. I have a bunch of older cars that run on Dino juice myself. Trans Am, El Camino, diesel pick up truck. However, I really like our Chevy volt for every day commuting and not having to put gas in it but once every two months. And as far as the batteries and things, I don't find them much more expensive than having to put a motor and transmission in a gasoline vehicle, has the price of everything has doubled in the last 20 years!. Welcome to the EV life ..

I'm looking to get a First Gen Volt towards the end of the year so I've been doing a lot of research.
To the point: it says' 'Battery Changed'....but it doesn't say *which* battery.
The Volt has two: the main Traction Battery, which is the T-Shaped one along the middle of the inside of the car that it uses to drive on Electric power,
and an AGM 12 Volt Accessory battery under the cargo floor at the rear of the car. There's a very good chance *that* was the one that was changed since it lasts around 6 years or so (just like the 12 volt battery in a regular car, which it basically is). That battery *is* important since almost all of the car's electronics run off of it and if it starts failing the car will start throwing weird error codes or might not start at all. Normally it's kept charged by a DC to DC Converter that drops the Traction Battery's 355.2 volts down to 13.8 volts.
The Owner's Manual shows how to Jump Start the Volt off another vehicle using the under-hood terminals (one is under a plastic cover and the other is a rather prominent gray thing protruding off to the right side, viewed from the front of the car.) All that does is give it power to the Volt's electronics, allowing it to start, at which point the DC to DC Converter is supposed to kick in and charge the 12 volt battery.
On the other hand, if you want to use the Volt to jump-start another vehicle DO NOT use those terminals; all you'll do is blow a fuse.
For that you need to lift up the carpet on the rear cargo floor to access the covers over the 12 volt battery terminals (polarity is marked on them). Lift the covers off and the terminals are easy to see.

Yes you were right about that. Sounds like you’ve done a lot of your homework. Hope you find something that really suits your needs.

@@micmac2800 One very good thing is the Traction Battery is known for its longevity. It’s warrantied for 100,000 miles (or 8 years, although that might have been extended). I’ve seen Volts with 200,000, 300,000, and even one with 400,000 miles.
A GM employee owns the 300,000 mile one and the 400,000 mile one has issues due to being in a collision, but the Traction Battery isn’t one of them.

Bought my 2014 all premium in May '20 used for $7700 (leather, every option and pearl paint) in immaculate shape, but 119k mi. Swear by it and not at it. Gets out of its own way, gets 42mpg in town (worst case, with air blasting in AZ) and over 360mi in combination range; Quiet and stylish (more aerodynamic than a '14 Corvette) and just got a letter from dealership offering to buy it back for $8600, having put 19k on it in (now) 4 years. I buy $25 of gas every 6 months or so. Chevy is also publically stating to revive Volt. Future classic now. Go drive one.

@@micmac2800 It has been great!, I do baby it sometimes. Chevy "Over engineered" the Volts so these cars are built to last up to 400k miles!. My battery can get a total of 41 miles on a single charge.
      Just an amazing car!

It's a great car man. I didn't know that it showed how much fuel it's burned throughout it's life. I estimate that the motor only has at the MOST 6000 miles on it. Pretty freaking cool.
