Answer to the question I asked ….
What does the “I” stand for in I-cord ?
The I-cord is a tube knitted in the round with two double-pointed needles. Elizabeth Zimmermann named it the Idiot Cord in honor of her accidental discovery of the simple technique. The I-cord is a perfect example of her attitude toward knitting: let it be fun, free of needless complications, and full of discovery.
I would have loved this lady!! ❤️

For longer cords: use a drop spindle with a hook so you can wrap the cord around it when it gets longer. You can also drop the egg weight off of the opposite side of your table to give you more length before you move the egg.
You can also just tie the egg weight to the cord with a spare yarn to prevent the holes from the egg hook tugging on it weirdly.

My daughter has all 3 Addi machines. I haven’t grasped the idea of I-cords. Over the weekend she was making some lettering with the egg using wire inside the knitted tube to put up in her classroom. She also said that looking around a craft fair over the weekend someone was selling knitted lettering baby names for ten quid!! I can only think people have too much money to spend on tat ….. But the other Addi machines …. now they’re worth the investment! I’m making hats, ear warmers and headbands on mine to sell for the local animal rescue centre to raise much needed funds. I subscribed to your channel a few weeks ago when I got my Addi. Great ideas, tips and clear instructions .. thank you!

I’m truly amazed of your knowledge of all of your videos. I’ve have the 2 Addi’s, a Sentro and a few Icord makers, (including a very vintage one). I’ve had them for about 10 years. Back when I used mine for the 1st time, there really wasn’t much available on RUclips. How did you figure out so much information and adorable makes? Did you have knowledge from using a round manual loom, knitting or anything? We are very that you share so much with us!!!!

      Thank you so much!
I come from a very crafty minded family (so to speak). Both of my parents and my siblings are very crafty. My mom is gone now but she was a brilliant knitter and crocheter.
I did a lot of looming before I got my machines and I am also a crocheter.
I have very minimal ability with knitting needles! Lol
My mind is always thinking about the next project and I get inspired by all sorts of things. I’m just a creative person I guess and when I do a craft I learn it to the best of my abilities.
Thanks for your kind words. 🥰

You could use a small piece of. Yarn and tie one end to the egg and slip knot around the cord and just move it up the cord as you gol, moving it up the cord. No need to stand. Love you video

      @koalaknitsandknacksaddicrochet  Год назад

So many people say they have a bad egg. I did too, but mine clearly had a cracked needle. It wasn’t the machine.
It’s like the bigger machines. So many say they come faulty and they send them back. I am convinced that 99% of them are not faulty. There is a learning curve and the proper yarn needs to be used in order to have better running machines. 🥰

I am a sewer. Often times the thread is wound in a certain direction and if you take it off the spool or the cone wrong, you’ll have tangles and it will not work for you. I am just wondering, if someone would take a skein of yarn and rewind it on their yarn winder, that it might be smoother and easier to handle on the machines? (Different direction)

Everyone seems to hate their Addi eggs when they first get them. Many send them back thinking they are broken. Perhaps some are but I would think most are not. If you got yours from EBay then it isn’t brand new and maybe the previous ones was rough on it.
Undo the screws at the top and take out the needles. Check them all and if they are good put them back in and try again. Good luck! 🥰

@@koalaknitsandknacksaddicrochet Thank you. I also Googled it and found 0.2kg, but when I weigh the whole machine and subtract its weight from 0.2kg the weight would be less than 50g, which is not heavy enough to do much pulling down of stitches for me. Would you be able to weigh your egg weight and let me know how heavy it is, then I can make one of the right weight for myself as they are not available as a spare which is a shame.
