Honestly the idea of Belos not fixing his cracked mask is actually pretty cool in my opinion. As in he could use it as a sign that he doesn't like Luz but at least respects her as an enemy

Girl you’ve got me really hooked now! I’ve always loved people’s interpretations of this song and this is like part of my top 3 favorites of it! The voice suits Bellos and there is speculation that maybe Luz’s mom was Azura... so what if this is another theory for us to indulge? I mean it would explain his reasoning for the day of unity... what if he’s looking for her? Gods this has my mind reeling but I love it!💜💜🧚‍♂️

Head-canon for this animatic (and because I don't want to reply to me own comment):
'Belos' is one of the previous Grimwalkers and started out as a scout like any other. He met Camilla when she somehow ended up the Boiling Isles as a teenager and despite his loyalty to the Emperor, he fell in love with her due to her kind nature and vowed to help him return home. although
However, when the Emperor learnt of a human in the Isles, 'Belos' was ordered to bring her in. He used the knowledge his Emperor shared with him to acquire enough Titan's blood to create the portal Eda uses in order at the start of the series to help Camilla return to earth....but not before they spent one perfect night with each other. The Grimwalker was then 'killed in duty'. In reality, he was betrayed by other Scouts and sent to the Conformitorium, where his treatment was particularly brutal.
Eventually, 'Belos' escaped and killed the real Emperor before taking his place. He now wants to see the Isles suffer for what it made him lose and with the Collector offering him the chance to see the love of his life again....
As to how Camila now stands before him, I'm drawing a blank

I've not yet seen the entirety of the musical, but this animatic does it a great justice and it reminds me of one version:
In at least one adaptation, Edmond learns learns Albert is actually his son; the only reason Mercedes 'moved on'/married was to avoid a scandal
Now I am imagining Belos and Luz' mother being in a similar backstory and Belos realizing his new enemy....may be his own daughter
