In this Animatic, The Count holds a Ball at his Manor, and invites his old "friends". None of the men recognize him, but Shycedes does. She spends the party trying to talk to him, while he denies knowing her.

Well, it's because we had to go on hiatus due to this film course we were taking.

It is from a musical, called “The Count of Monte Cristo Musical”. The music is available on iTunes.

You can’t, unless you live nearby where it is being performed on stage, as there are no recordings of it.

What programs did you use to create this?
Everything was drawn in Photoshop CS6, and edited in After Effects CS6.
When will you finish the animation?
Never. This is the finished product. It takes a while to fully animate stuff and we don’t have the patience for it. This way we can get our videos out sooner so we can move onto the next one.

I hope you people in the replies realize that the real story technically Fluttershy married Twilight a month after RD was sent to prison.... and like..... Twilight is a bit of a bad guy in this story (Funny to put mlp names in the place of Monte Cristo names)
I've watched the movie multiple times, and the reason Mercedes married Mondego was because she was with child and couldn't provide for two. So, maybe the reason Fluttershy married Twilight is similar to that?

The very _moment_ the Count starts singing is upsetting. That "This man is dead" just strikes my heart like a hammer, because I know how this specific story goes.
He could've spoken to Mercedes, he could've told her his plans... but to what end? It would've meant nothing. In the end, at least he spared her son, a young man that he himself truly didn't wish to kill either.
It's such a good book. It's also so upsetting to read. I kept screaming at it, "There's a better way!", but to no avail. Binded pages cannot hear me.

I love how the Count is keeping his ears folded down through the entire video. It shows how tense and tired he truly feels, plus, is kinda cute.

And there are some other lines that are just better in German.

@@EdaDeda_Art Edmond thought that Mercedes was in on Fernand's plan to imprison him and have him out of the way. Mercedes was actually told he died a month into his imprisonment. So when she saw him, it shattered everything she knew/was told. So she has plenty of questions and words while he has nothing left but vengeance against the ones who imprisoned him.
i'm 18 now, I can't describe how much joy and happiness this used to bring me as a child, watching this over and over again. Im going to into animation college and and looking for inspiration remembered this series. Its just so beautifully and I appreciate all the work and effort that went into this. I wish I could meet the people behind who made this so I could thank them personally, Thank you ❤️

In the book Mercedes and the Count never get back together. The pain and damage is too much and the Count is too jaded and changed to be the man Mercedes loved.
I know it's far more realistic that way, but damn the hopeless romantic in me wants the happy ending for these two

Count Monsparkle is the best, not only does he reply to repetitive comments about the story of Monte Cristo, he also makes German translation videos for the animatics, synthesias and has uploaded the entire Monte Cristo musical on his channel for all to see (It's in german but he's added english subtitles), and all-round is an amazing person. (Now if only the animatic's Count Monsparkle could learn a thing or two from him XD )

I like how the stars flicker when Edmond Dashie says “this man is dead”. To me it struck me as a neat reference to the star he and Fluttercedes shared back before his spirit got crushed to dust, flickering as the last shreds of hope for their reunion die. I really love all the little details you guys put into these! Just rewatched all of them, and I’m not even in the mlp fandom anymore! Keep up the good work!

Wow, I'm at a loss for words. This must be the most polished animatic ever. It really shows how much your artstyle has evolved over the last two years. The backgrounds look like they're right out of a painting, the floor and glasses have detailled reflections in them, the characters themselves look more polished than ever. But also the way everything moves looks very professional and smooth. You both did a truly fantastic job on this video, and I think it was well worth the wait =D

That's because... Silhouette got seven hundred times better at drawing the expressions, the emotion, and the ponies themselves over their two-year break from this series. It's really a beautiful animatic - so much more detailed and precise than most.
Also, because this part would be about 17 years after the very first animatic.
The designs have most likely been adapted to fit the roles they are playing in the story. Quite simply, the Bourbon Restoration in France and its historical setting is fundamental to the story of the Count of Monte Cristo. For the era, and the story, you had to be an extremely rich man of trade or industry to hold power or vote, hence why he became the Count of Monte Cristo.

Dude... with as long as it took to get this animatic out since the last one they did, I'm sure they and everyone else will love you ALOT if you animated it (plus with as fast as comments are rolling it it might be awhile, if ever, before they get back to you with a confirmation). With a fandom like this imo its best and most efficate to get started just do it, it could be a while before they get to your comment if they do.

+Fowo I feel the need to make a correction here. Use that as more fuel for the hatewagon if you must. But there are no 'typical bronies', certainly not the kind you're thinking of. In every fandom, there is a phenomenon called the 'vocal minority'. The loud, the obnoxious, the flamboyant and irreverent. They take what they like and shove it in the faces of everyone else. Thing about the vocal minority is, no matter how loud it is, no matter how many times you have to deal with them - they are still the minority.
If there was a 'typical brony', they'd just be a more or less regular person. There's millions of us, you've dealt with at most, hundreds of the loud and obnoxious sort. Most of us, you'd find, keep our various shenanigans within our community. Partially because it's more respectful of others to do so, partially because plenty of us have been physically attacked just for not hiding what what we like, and blasted to hell and back over the net by people who think it's appropriate or cool to hate us for the antics of the few. Or worse, those who are looking for reasons to ostracize us and use any justification they can to do so.
To let you in on a secret: We don't like them either. We have to deal with them even more than you do. Pity us, don't hate us.
Kayriel dude, I've been in the Fandom for 2 years and it might have helped me at the time a little (I learned how to meet new.people) . After all I switched from it as it didn't let me to evolve. Now I'm that guy you'd call "oh he thinks he's cool". Yes I do.

Six years in the fandom and observing it, and I happen to have been a psych major with studies in sociology. But alright. I was never trying to say you were wrong-headed for your opinion. Simply that it seemed you lack an understanding on the whole due to an opinion colored by your experiences with a smaller subset.
People will see and believe what they want to believe, however, I understand this better than most. You are certainly welcome to your opinion and I was not arguing with you - more just trying to enlighten you as to the nature of your statement versus objective study and analysis of a greater population percentage than you've likely encountered. Merely a subject I tend to find quite interesting even after all these years.

To recap, we have three guys fucking over the main guy by letting him rot in jail for fake crimes while one of the guys tries to get jiggy with the main guy's girl. Main guy breaks outta prison buts is batshit insane so he plots his revenge. So he starts a ball or something and his girl is like 'oh shit, is that you?' And he's like 'i dont remember you' while he like sets his plan to action.

Hey so I just feel the need to inform you that like, years later, this video still has an impact on me. Like if i ever end up directing the stage show (you know, wont happen, but still) I'd do my best to transcribe the framing and actions youve used to the state. The literal dancing around each other combined with the metaphorical dancing around each other in the lyrics is still god tier, and the way they keep getting flashes of each other? And then when they come together and the music swells?????? Just???? ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so good.

In most movies that use this, it ends with the main couple coming together, such as in Tangled and Pocahontas 2; Journey to a New World. It is quite popular and is used well here.

I am in shock of how amazing this video has come out. I was practically screeching in excitement when I saw the video pop up and I am no way shape or form disappointed. This has truly come out amazing, it really shows the time and effort put into the project and definitely was worth the wait. Looking back from the very first Count Of Monte Cristo Animatic of yours all the way to this astonishing fifth you can very much see the improvement and development of two talented siblings. The art is breath taking, the music fitting and lovely and the outcome truly amazing.

It's impressive how attractive you made Rainbow Dash/count of Monte Cristo. When he first appeared in this video and the camera got closer to him, I swooned.
Looking back to this and honestly this is so much better than I remembered
Every frame looks almost like a single full drawing
The lines are so clean, even when they don't need to be
The colors are so bright and colorful
It has a lot of movement to be an animatic. They could've cut some scenes to take only 2 frames but decided to draw 4 or more
Even thought the lightning and the shadows are the 'weakeast' part, all frames have a least some amount. Something not even some full drawings or animations have.
It could make a little work here and there but knowing the previous part was mostly sketched and there is a whole jump of quality, I would say it's pretty impressive
Sad that after this we never got to see a work like this anymore

I don't really care for MLP or anything like that, but after a 'Jekyll & Hyde' pony animatic I stumbled upon about a year ago, I always find myself clicking on videos like this and I'm rarely disappointed. The music choices and theatrics, even if I don't care for the art quality itself, always leave me satisfied and re-watching and more often than not, open the door to a new musical or sound to me.
To that extent, I find myself pleasantly surprised and appreciative of the tastes of the MLP fandom.

It's highly unlikely that it's going to be "Ah Women" since that song takes place before "I know those Eyes/This Man is Dead". It also lacks any sort of closure, so "The Man I used to be" would be much more likely.
