Yeah, exactly so. I gave up on this game 2 years ago and I don’t miss it. Especially after it was confirmed by datamines that NATO tank ammo is hard programmed to be twice as likely to detonate compared to Russian ammo

To be fair here is a better description of modes:
Arcade: you've just started playing, you're enjoying the game and unlocking the first vehicles. You feel like a god fighting all those tanks without being penetrated once. However, prices for new vehicles are rising fast.
Realistic Battles: you've gone too far. You started taking the game seriously and wanting to go further. You notice that there's this mode that gives more than 2x the amount of rewards that you usually get in arcade battles. "A blessing!", you think. You soon realise how big the War Thunder iceberg actually is. All that power that once you felt, slowly disappears as you get more and more aware of how many bots you fought in Arcade without realising. If arcade is a game to have fun, realistic is a challenge, a war zone, a place where 2 teams go in and only 4 people are expected to survive.
Simulator: you've mastered the power of suffering. You are now one of the big nerds that don't play to have fun, just to ruin everybody else's fun. So you confine in these hyper difficult and "realistic" battles where nobody will ever insult you for "smurfing" or being a nerd, because if you are not a nerd, this mode will slowly kill your soul.
My friends made me play realistic off the bat and told me to stay away from Arcade, a month later when i became a murder machine and started getting consistent top 5 even among them they told me that Arcade is actually technically easier and they only had me play Realistic so i didn't get used to handholding mechanics. Scuffed Super Soldier Program i call it

@@LazyAlex_I learned the game through a similar but different method. Instead of playing all of these forgiving vehicles with their strong armor, I chose to play such fantastic vehicles as the L3/33 CC at 5.0, or the BT-42, or even the IKV-103. I had to play like an absolute rat bastard, and it worked. I now slightly understand positioning instead of running in like a moron
@@Manchweld yeah i'm doing something similair, i'm only using TD's and Open Tops so that 90% of the time if i am hit i die, i have a better understanding of the maps and angling aswell, if you're curious as to my lineup: M109A1, M56, M50, M18. 3 TD's and a Open Top Light Tank

Maaaaaaan, after grinding for the T-80UK I never felt so exhausted in my entire life. I left the game afterwards and most likely not coming back, as I'm in process of selling the acc to my friend
Also WT's graphics + having to use my eyes to spot, makes them tired really really quickly. You can say anything about WoT, but WoT's graphics are actually not that really tiring for the eye.

yeah, usually when I come back to the game the first 3-5 days are most fun, and I'm most efficient. Then it slides down, I get tired, can't sleep at nights, have to grind, then feel like shit, my performance drops significantly, and lastly I start to rage at the game again. There is nothing worse than shooting a T-34 4 times with my M4A1 76's M62 rounds just so they bounce off, and this dude kills my gunner and sets me on fire, and then I have to watch this all.

As a fellow war thunder player I can say with confidence that this man has definitely more than 7 hours of play in the game. He knows how to maneuver planes and alternate between mouse and keyboard controls, he knows how to efficiently use binoculars. He knows what's happening basically

Before you get into the game, it's good to know that F2P is designed to be very, very grind heavy, so either be prepared to spend on a premium account or to suffer like I have lmao
As a slave to the snail he's right. F2P is fine, but it's going to be a SLOG getting anywhere once you past I think Rank 3-4 (maybe 5) and after that premium is almost a necessity with certain vehicles just due to repair cost

As a War Thunder Player who has played for 2700 hours I can safely say this game is ..... ye it's alright
I prolly have like 700-1000, and I'm fucking done with this game lol
I'm somewhere between 2k-2300 hrs currently and it has it's days granted I never grind for top tier stuff as I don't really care for it I stay between 3.0-5.7 as my main BR's to play. With friends I *might* rarely go up to 11.3 and go through that slog more but not really much solo

What I meant to say is, for new players, this is a near perfect representation of the experience of each tier.
A new player won't receive an account with lvl 100, all vehicles unlocked, all crews maxed, and all vehicles spaded.
Might I recommend: Swedish gremlin vehicles
Included:
-instant reload anti tank rockets (U-SH 405)
-literal wedge tank that refuses to die (Strv 103)
-155mm HE shell with 3.2s reload (Bkan 1C)
-SPGs that have absolutely no right being in such a low BR (Spj fm/43-44 and BT-42)
Stormpjas is just disgusting
Also STRV 81 has a disgusting impenetrable turret armor, couldn't pen it with my M3 gun frontally

As someone with easily 1200 hours in this game if not more, it always is interesting seeing someone new to the game. Just feels kinda crazy to me to think about how people get confused by all the controls yet I find them to be second nature and do it without thinking. Especially since I do play high BRs pretty often so basically my entire keyboard is in use.
Then switching to WoT feels funny, because I still keep hitting B for binoculars just to see behind the cover

it is beautiful, armed to the teeth with its (approximately) 26 rockets, its impeccable range, and the fact the the rockets go boom, it is a masterpiece of military creation.(ignoring the fact that using all of the rockets point blank can't even destroy a tank) but still, it is more beautiful than the 'Mona Lisa', it will forever hold a special place in my memory. (but to be honest, it would have looked even better with your decal on it Martin)

that shot on the bomber with the german doom truck was legitimately pretty impressive. That or I'm just easily impressed/suck at leading because I fly zeros and therefore have no idea how to hit things beyond 200 yards.
Realistic is the way to go for sure. Even for casuals. The rewards are much higher and the chance of getting immediately seen and killed are very slightly lower.
That flank around 4:00 - in RB you would have wiped the entire enemy team there, because in Arcade everyone instantly knows where you are lel
