Except Ghostbusters 3 DID happen. The Ghostbusters 2009 game was basically the third movie. They even got most of the actors back to voice the characters in the game.
Having now seen the original Ghostbusters after watching the reboot, I still don't hate Ghostbusters 2016, but the original Ghostbusters is far superior!
Doug's speech at the end was exactly how I feel about originals vs reboots. For example, I don't care for the Michael Bay transformers because of writing, acting, changes to some of my favorite characters, etc. Regardless, that shouldn't stop anyone else from enjoying them. The character designs themselves are pretty sweet and the action scenes are still great, but Shia LaBeouf... sigh... tl;dr like or dislike what you want, just please don't bully others for having a different opinion.
Three good things that happened in 2016 are the following: the release of the films “Deadpool”, “Batman V. Superman”, “ Captain America Civil War”, and “Doctor Strange”. Also the Chicago Cubs won the World Series after 108 years! Second Edit: I watched the extended version of this film last year in October and honestly it was just okay like Doug said. Leslie Jones was the funniest character and the scene that made me laugh the most was near the end when Kevin keeps being thrown a sandwich and it keeps being knocked out of his hands.
Cubs broke the curse, AND Cleveland got their first sports title in over 50 years in the Cavaliers. Good thing about the latter is that the Indians have been decent (if they learn how to win a playoff game again, we'll be in business), and the Browns are looking scary for 2019.
Yeah, Ben said that the more people tell him that he HAS to see it, the less he wants to see it. At this point, I really think they should just watch the NC review with him. Maybe without him, but that wouldn’t be as fun.
32:50 Yeah, they did that (sort of) in the comics. They went to other countries to bust ghosts, (Janine being particularly upset that they weren't in Japan enough to appreciate it) and Walter Peck is the head of a organization that handles the safety and property damage.
Honestly, I wished they written this movie in a way where the old cast were instructors for the new cast because they were going on a retirement. And not journalists. But that's my opinion.
Not taking sides here but the reason that the action was more laid back in the original is because they were trying to show that they're scientists it's not like they were trained in acrobatics or anything. In the new one it's like, when did they learn all that again?
EXACTLY! That was one of my biggest beefs. The average person is not a trained combat fighter. Most people get gassed out in under 4 minutes. A great example of this is take a person to go airsoft arena, and watch how a hardcore Call of Duty gamer is completely out of it in under 20 minutes and barely able to stay alive in the real world game.
29:05 There is a Ghostbusters multiverse that created when Gozer was defeated in the first film. There are two 2017 comic series using the multiverse Ghostbusters 101 (aka Everyone Answers the Call) and Ghostbusters Crossing Over.
The 2016 Ghostbusters movie wasn't all that bad. It had its moments. The equipment and the battle at the end was pretty good. The story and comedy however suffered. While the original was a comedy too, it was slightly darker and had a sense of seriousness to it that made it intriguing. The reboot is basically a live-action version of a Ghostbusters cartoon. Specifically, Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters (with a hint of Filmation Ghostbusters). Sometimes it went a little too far on the "stupid" humor. The character Kevin (played by Hemsworth) was so unbelievably dumb. Janine in the original was smarter and treated with more respect than Kevin.
The original was really far superior. While some of it is a little dated(I get a little bit of cringe nowadays in the scenes with Venkman hitting on Dana and the like), the humour was on point far more, more snappy(like the scene in the elevator where they are quietly talking, Ray asks for Peter to switch him on, the power pack revs up and Peter and Venkman edge towards the furthest spot in the cramped elevator from Ray). Compared to the remakes humour, which just repeatedly drags out the humour and lets them improvise the humour, having the humour EXPLAINED to us(like Kevin covering his eyes when he really should be covering his ears after hitting the gong), the story really being almost beat for beat with the original(green monster, giant white ghost creature, etc;)and unnecessary "action"versions of equipment(never saw "Extreme Ghostbusters", so don't know if the power glove and shit was from there)and you see why I don't love the movie. The story of the original was way better too, felt way darker. Ancient Sumerian god creates hotspots of paranormal activity as it comes back to destroy the world, using a building made by one of its worshippers as a conduit. Compare that to "MRA who is upset about not being accepted creates devices to summon ghosts, kills himself and makes people dance"is not as interesting or good. I also didn't like the absolute vitriol I got for NOT loving the film, even though I had nothing against the cast, even though I thought they were just NOT the greatest(being SNL alumni's and Paul Feig regulars). The scene that really explained the reason the film didn't get as much love as it could of is, ironically, captured in the movie when Patty insults the audience as "sweaty nerds"or something as she tries to crowdsurf and they part, letting her fall, which gets her shouting "it's a sex thing or a race thing!" Sadly, a lot of films are getting that these days, that people are called sexists if they don't love a movie that is female lead(like Elizabeth Banks "Charlies Angels"for example.) Add to that in both of these movies, all the male characters are sexist, racist, idiotic or worse and you see why *I*(personally)don't love it. I can understand some people at least enjoying it though. Know it wasn't made for me, but for girls, but I feel like we could at least make it fun without queef humour and such. At least the new GB3 is going to have a mixed cast of boys and girls.... Sorry for the rant btw, lol.
Okay. When I watched this movie I found a couple things awesome. The weapons, The car, and the scene where Ms. Frizzle's sister just takes out the proton whips and pulls off one of the best slowmo shots I've seen in a while.
Ghostbusters failed to me more just cause it looked like they were just trying to make ghostbusters with women then to do anything actually interesting with it, I would have liked to see a pass the torch story then a reboot for the sake of a reboot. The comedy was over the top and forced, the cameos were also forced to me and overall it just wasn't a film that deserved to have the Ghostbusters name attached to it. You want the REAL sequel? Find a copy of the 2009 video game, now that is a sequel done right.
One of the things that pissed about Ghostbusters 2016 was that Ectocooler was promised; yet I coudn't find one goddamn drop! WHERE IS MY GODDAMN ECTOCOOLER!!!
I thought it was less than average. Some of the things some people said we're good, kinda disgusted me. But there were some cool things. Honestly, my final opinion amounts to Ghostbusters 2016 isn't a Ghostbusters movie. It's more like a Ghostbusters parody.
For me, I've just gotten sick of remakes. The only remakes I actually enjoyed are the True Grit and Deathwish remakes, mainly because they actually had effort put into them, and they felt like they were true to the original films... ...Ghostbusters 2016 on the other hand, doesn't feel like Ghostbusters. In the original, the characters felt more real as opposed to the modern version where the characters feel a tad too polished and generic. The remake isn't terrible per se, trust me I've seen MUCH WORSE, but it isn't good either. I'd give it at least two and half out of ten. I would've gotten lower, but it deserves the extra star for its effects, something I will give this movie a TON of credit.
Is everyone really right or wrong? Sometimes people just complain for some pointless crap. Personally, I thought the new Ghostbusters movie was average too. Sure it did had some moments that were stupid and shouldn't exists, but the action and effects are awsome. People have there own opinions and people need to learn how to just accept other people's views. All this talk about the new movie is bullcrap. You go see it, people say you are disgracing the original. You don't go see it, people will think your sexist because the ghostbusters are now females. Is it really worth talking if anyone is NOT right? You may think your winning the argument, but you are really losing. No one is right nor wrong, it's a word called "opinion". Say what you want about the new movie or to me, and I wouldn't care. I respect everyone's opinion.
My problem with the movie is the same as with the Dark Tower and many others--not even in just 2016--that just reboot a series and change the race/sex/gender of he characters: it's lazy. The creators never put any effort into anything; they just sit back and let the controversy sell the movie while trying to pretend to be 'progressive'. You can really see it in Ghost Busters. They hired a bunch of comedians and let them just tell jokes to hide the fact that they didn't put in any real effort to craft a narrative.
Nobody said you were sexist if you were gonna go see it. But if your reasons include defending the honor who didn’t ask you to defend their honor, and speaking on behalf of the dead, when you were specifically told not to, as well as taking Rick Moranis out of context then yeah, criticism of such is warranted
I remember seeing the trailer and thinking, "This looks dumb, I hope the movie isn't this dumb." so I left a dislike and a comment saying that the trailer sucked. No hate, just an opinion. Then I saw the movie. Not in theaters, I rented it when it came to DVD. I didn't like it. I didn't laugh at all through the entire movie. I didn't find a single joke even a small bit amusing. It's fine if other people like it, but I just didn't.
The one thing that turned me away from watching it, besides everybody saying it wasn't really funny, was the tweet where I think the director said if you dont like it you're a sexist.
Oh yeah If someone tries to fucking guilt trip me I will not play with that bullshit and will just ignore their manipulative ass also the actresses could have been way better rather than a comedian who isn't funny half the time and the others.
Everybody's turned away by statements like that nowadays. Let's go over to the examination: They take a beloved franchise, remove everything unique and appealing about it, insult the fans, experience short-term success with normies, then the normies leave, apathy kicks in, franchise dies, and the cycle goes on and on and on.
Since you talked a little bit about Kubrick and “A.I.” towards the end, I think you might be interested in seeing NC’s review of that movie. It’s quite interesting.
That whole part about how Critic wishes he could enjoy Ghostbusters instead of being ashamed of being a Ghostbusters fan can easily apply to the Star Wars fanbase nowadays.
It's one of those "Everyone is stupid and Doug is smart because he's in the middle" rewiews. News flash, being in the middle does not always make you smart.
I absolutely hate Ghostbusters 2016. It just makes me feel embarrassed, like, watching it actually makes me cringe. I feel like I have to turn the volume down, face the TV toward the wall and watch it in a dark corner somewhere where nobody will ever know. It just leaves you with a bad, BAD feeling, like this movie should not exist.
2016 was a crazy year for sure. It especially wasn’t a good year for celebrities. We lost some big name celebs that year. But I am so happy that the latest Ghostbusters movie was superior than this ‘reboot’. Least in Afterlife, they showed more love to the franchise and it felt fresh as well. It was so good, I saw it three times in theaters. And that is rare for me or anyone for that matter to do in the movie theater.
this does show how seeing it once in theaters reviews are bad. he makes a complaint about scenes being cut, but there are explanations for them. but nc sacrifices them for a joke
Guy nails Scorsese. That director is so amazing, he made. documentary about Bob Dylan’s backing band, that is a must-see for everyone. Who on earth can do that?
13:43 wanna know something cool? That joke wasnt meant to happen when recording the scene they were filming then they saw the cone and were like "Fuck it, lets go with it" Its in there behind the scene video for this review
my biggest problem with the film other then it being entirely unfunny imo, was they advertised it like a sequel but instead they just remade the original but incredibly bad. and the biggest thing i hate with remakes is when they change the characters gender from its original, and so people don't think i hate women or anything let me give example of something i would hate: everyone knows spider man right? if you saw a movie retell the same story as they did before but all of a sudden peter parker is now a girl im pretty sure you would hate it you dont just change the gender of a character people have known for years
What if these Ghostbusters were the DAUGHTERS of the orignal and the movie was about training them. And what if the movie elaborated more on Erin on how she can talk to ghosts and used it to her advantage. And what if Abby did die and BECAME A GHOST HERSELF. She can work in the underworld with the ghosts just to plot against them. I CAN KEEP GOING!
kevin is one of the reasons i despise this film the way they write him is a stupid of a whole new level that cant even exsist you can't forget to breathe and still function thats not possible our minds do it subconsciously its a thing that we do when we are first born if he truely forgot he would be dead way before he reaches adulthood he would have died right after he was born if it had anything to do with memory, and seeing that pissed me off, it doesnt help that every single guy character in the movie is either a jackass, incredibly unhelpful or incredibly stupid like kevin, remember the badass secretary the originals had? now she may have been a secretary... but at the very least with her personality you like her and the way she talks, her attitude are all enjoyable but then you see this movies secretary which is kevin who is the most idiotic thing you will ever see in your life. the only thing i really liked from him... was the 4th wall break i cant remember when or even if it was in the movie or a deleted scene or what, but he asks for a water from a guy off camera and the characters are like wtf? how did he do that... to me that was the only thing that made me laugh in the film
Now we do have ghostbusters 3 it’s called ghostbusters afterlife I loved that they pay respect to Harold Ramis granted I’ve only seen the final battle and I still need to see it but what I’ve seen so far was more ghostbusters 3 then whatever this dumpster fire was
8:19-8:28 Nate: Doug, grab a fire hose and get them out of your office. I just grab a fire hose and douse them all and just be like, 'Get out of my office!'
Am I the only one who looks at the ending of this review and think it also Reigns true for the controversy that is going on within the Witcher fan base because of the Witcher Netflix series the words Nostalgia Critic says at the end work in both situations
@@BrenoRanyere this show is an out just yet but it's been announced it's probably going to come in 2019 the reason some people are angry is because they're is a possibility they might cast a black actress to play Siri who is depicted as white although this is not confirmed and again what critic says at the end of his review kind of also fits into this stupid controversy as well
To be fair, the lore of the story establishes and emphasizes Ciri's heritage as being of partial elvish decent which gives her an almost unnatural paleness/whiteness of skin.
Normally i don't judge movies before they come out , but i really thought i was going to hate ghostbusters 2016 by watching the trailers. Once i actually did watch it , it was pretty good. Not on par with the original , but still good.
Founding member of the UK:Ghostbusters here and I enjoy GB2 a little more then GB1, and I also didn’t mind the reboot. It had its high points and its low but it’s still an enjoyable film.
And now with the actual Ghostbusters 3, Ghostbusters: afterlife out after watching that I re-watched this movie and it wasn’t as bad as I remember it it’s not good by any means but not as bad as people say it is
This movie made me go "meh" in the worst way. Because everything good was canceled out by everything bad. I wanted to be able to clearly if I like something or not.
Ghostbusters 2016 was the first use anti marketing. Show the worst of the worst which creates backlash more noise insults the fans then when people see it they think it’s not as bad as they thought because they were expecting the worst thing on the planet
Funny how Tamara played the character who praises the original movie, she herself hasn't seen the actual movie during the filming of that movie..only 8 months after. But yeah..that whole controversy was so dumb..every think of doing the follow up review, which is Ghostbusters II?
Look, as much as I'm gonna sound like a dumb male who hates women for some reason just because I'm criticizing this film, hear me out: there are no good Guys in this film. They are either the main villain, jackasses for not believing the main 4, scaredy cats or just dumb. I mean, i don't mind the idea of a all female cast (far from it. I think it could work), but the way they show how "Yeeeah! Woman rule! Men drool" stigma though the whole film. Hell, how they defeat the main villain is a shot to the nuts! It's just painful especially for the Ghostbusters franchise. Grant it, not all women in the series are the best and Janine gets reworked in the original show, but when they were part of the team! They didn't treat the guys any more than friends/work partners and the guys weren't trying to always hit on them. Equality is all i ask!
Except Ghostbusters 3 DID happen. The Ghostbusters 2009 game was basically the third movie. They even got most of the actors back to voice the characters in the game.

I don’t think there was anything more painfully 2016 in 2016 than Ghostbusters 2016
I’m pretty sure Nate and I had the exact same reaction when Rachel showed up. I don’t think anyone was expecting that.
Everyone who liked this movie or thought is was good ARE stupid
Ghostbusters 3 confirmed to be in production by Bill Murray
I absolutely hate Ghostbusters 2016. It just makes me feel embarrassed, like, watching it actually makes me cringe. I feel like I have to turn the volume down, face the TV toward the wall and watch it in a dark corner somewhere where nobody will ever know. It just leaves you with a bad, BAD feeling, like this movie should not exist.

Try reacting to NC: AvP
I felt the same way, the movie wasn't completely terrible, but it needed to try harder on their story.
@Renegades React I can *totally* see you guys as a Ghostbusters team!
If you think 2016 was bad, it’s was the centennial year of the battle of the Somme, battle of verdun in 1916, the hardest fighting of the Great War.
Atleast it give us Batman V Superman and Captain America:Civil War.
this does show how seeing it once in theaters reviews are bad. he makes a complaint about scenes being cut, but there are explanations for them. but nc sacrifices them for a joke
Yeaaah there's someone defending it. Great job. (IMMENSE SARCASM)
Please react to Nostalgia Critic Biodome : this movie is awful as hell !
fun fact ridley scott was originally going to make THE DOCTOR WHO DALEK DESIGNS!!!!!!! for the very 1st episode
14:55, this part is always funny to me.
Why is menanist Malcom wearing a australian hat?
Guy nails Scorsese. That director is so amazing, he made. documentary about Bob Dylan’s backing band, that is a must-see for everyone. Who on earth can do that?
13:43 wanna know something cool? That joke wasnt meant to happen when recording the scene they were filming then they saw the cone and were like "Fuck it, lets go with it"
Its in there behind the scene video for this review
To add 2016 was also the year that the Chicago Cubs won the World Series for the first time in 108 years!
Kubrick was murdered. They re-edited “Eyes Wide Shut” posthumously.
my biggest problem with the film other then it being entirely unfunny imo, was they advertised it like a sequel but instead they just remade the original but incredibly bad. and the biggest thing i hate with remakes is when they change the characters gender from its original, and so people don't think i hate women or anything let me give example of something i would hate: everyone knows spider man right? if you saw a movie retell the same story as they did before but all of a sudden peter parker is now a girl im pretty sure you would hate it you dont just change the gender of a character people have known for years
I enjoyed kingdom of the crystal skull💀
Reminds me of Dans vodka 😂😂😂
0:46 bit of a controversial opinion, but I kind of liked Donald Trump as a president
Honestly they never should've included any cameos. They don't make any sense and it feels like they're just riding off the original.
28:50 If you really want more stories with the Ghostbusters, just read the IDW comics.
Speaking of directors, you guys should watch Nostalgia Critic's "Why Do Good Directors Go Bad?" editorial
28:52 I think Ben’s gonna start coughing up blood. Haha.
A good idea for the 2016 movie instead
We got the one we have.
kevin is one of the reasons i despise this film the way they write him is a stupid of a whole new level that cant even exsist you can't forget to breathe and still function thats not possible our minds do it subconsciously its a thing that we do when we are first born if he truely forgot he would be dead way before he reaches adulthood he would have died right after he was born if it had anything to do with memory, and seeing that pissed me off, it doesnt help that every single guy character in the movie is either a jackass, incredibly unhelpful or incredibly stupid like kevin, remember the badass secretary the originals had? now she may have been a secretary... but at the very least with her personality you like her and the way she talks, her attitude are all enjoyable but then you see this movies secretary which is kevin who is the most idiotic thing you will ever see in your life. the only thing i really liked from him... was the 4th wall break i cant remember when or even if it was in the movie or a deleted scene or what, but he asks for a water from a guy off camera and the characters are like wtf? how did he do that... to me that was the only thing that made me laugh in the film
Hey guys how have ya been
Doug sitting on a livestream. Said that he knows if he watches 2016 Ghostbusters again. He's gonna hate it more. 😂
I didn't mind the Ghostbusters movie from 2016..the only thing I liked out of this film.
1. Holtzman
2. The ghosts
3. The ghostbusting equipment
There is a witcher netflix show...? Didnt people loved the castlevania netflix show? Why would people hate a witcher show?
15:29 Humanity is really is idiotic, stupid, flawed and fallen and this clearly shows it.
I'm still sad that the best Ghostbuster is the only dead one

Oh, hey, I have that App, too! Very Convenient and somewhat satisfying, wouldn’t you say?
I like how Nick progressively sinks into the coach
Funny how just a moment ago I came across James Rolfe's video just before this one

Founding member of the UK:Ghostbusters here and I enjoy GB2 a little more then GB1, and I also didn’t mind the reboot. It had its high points and its low but it’s still an enjoyable film.
And now with the actual Ghostbusters 3, Ghostbusters: afterlife out after watching that I re-watched this movie and it wasn’t as bad as I remember it it’s not good by any means but not as bad as people say it is
Also note that it was Chris Hemsworth play as Kevin the Secretary which is not awfull at all.
28:52 *T_R_U_T_H*
I can't wait to see Ghostbusters 3
0:11 it’s definitely not that final fantasy there is no way that would be the best game you could get on a budget
Snd mind you! I don't hate this movie. It's bad, but it has some good elements. I like the crazy scientist, she was great.
