15:55 Cap and CH accidentally set up a great example of a reverse slope defense. Reverse slope defense: Superior numbers must first crest the hill to be able to engage the defenders. Only so many of the enemy can crest the hill at one time, the rest are on the other side of the hill without line of sight to the defenders, the defenders only need to engage a small portion of the enemy at a time which reduces the attacker's number advantage. Another benefit is that the attacking force must skyline themselves as they pass over the crest of the hill. They make a dark silhouette against the bright background of the sky making them easy to see and target. Very important considering this engagement is taking place at 300 meters, quite a distance. As with the case of an attacking force vs a defending force the defenders can remain hunkered down, behind cover, while the attacking force must by necessity leave cover to move forward. The defenders, if they remain static, are always in stable and supported shooting position and can maintain their sighting while the attackers must move/crawl/run and so are not always prepared to make well aimed shots.
When I was a tanker back in the dinosaur days, we just said "Sabot" as well. It's easier than saying APDS... The M2 is John Moses Browning's second best gift to mankind (the first being the M1911 pistol).
This hit the heart strings!! I’m an old Jarhead and I spent a year behind a Mk-19. It’s a brilliant weapon, you just really have to control your rate of fire or it’s likely to jam with that 40mm belt flopping around!!
Just a small comment on the fire extinguishers: The ones on the outside are NOT what you would use in most cases. There are automatic fire extinguishers inside the tank, plus manual backups. The ones on the outside (a standard in many tanks) are there in case the crew must evacuate the tank, while it is burning and the automatic system is either not working or insufficient to put out all the fire. Some are actually used like grenades and tossed into the tank. At least that is my experience, although I don't know the Challenger that well. I was on other tanks.
I absolutely lost it when the AT guy started running away, the funniest thing I've seen in a long time, the facial expression (lack of) and gentle yet rigid jog away from the incoming tanks. Oh my god 🤣
The fire extinguishers are to use to go back in and get the crew if the outside is on fire or the crew to use to go get another crew or a separate vehicle out of their burning vehicle.
Stunning work, CH! You are the DCS Legend! (Along with Simba, the People's Champion, of course). Hoping you're getting to grips with Parent stuff, Cap. We all love "smashy, smashy boom, boom"!
Thank you so much for more cool stuff CH. We love you long long time. I believe the AT4 is undermodeled, as a good shot against lower armored areas of Russian tanks will take them out in one shot based on evidence from Ukraine. For the JLTVs, if they were fighting the insurgents armed solely with AKs, the AKs are not getting through JLTV armor at all. You would need autocannons, RPGs, and grenade launchers at a minimum to destroy them. I believe armor ratings would be basically bullet-proof up to .308 equivalent (but not 7.62x39 AK). I found the armor requirements when the JLTV program was seeking design proposals and this is the description for the b-kit armor upgrade: "Add on Armor - B Kit KE Threat: STANAG Level 3 (T); Level 4 (O) (7.62mm AP to 14.5mm AP) Artillery: STANAG Level 3 (T); Level 4 (O) (155mm HE @ 60m/ 155 HE at 30m) Mine Blast/IED (center line): STANAG Level 4a (O) (10kg) RPG: (O) Defeat or defend against all or partial types of RPG warheads (3) 360-degree Armor Protection of personnel against known threats including KE, IED, Mine, and RPG (O) when up-armored with B-Kit." I've seen video from Afghanistan of MRAPs taking hits from suicide drones, grenades, and mortars and driving away with survivors. An artillery round landed about 10 feet away from a normal humvee and they took casualties but also had survivors abandon the damaged vehicle. Also those Challengers would rip through any RU tank, although I don't know the issue with the damage model you guys were refrencing, so perhaps that's what changed things up. I haven't seen any Russian/Soviet tank appear survivable in the current war and most Ukranian tanks are equally as vulnerable. However, any model with the ammunition carousel is just a tracked death trap. BMP/BRT models also roll around with all the troops on top of those things still, even with all the arty and drones, as that's how scared they are of the thin armor being penetrated by nearly anything.
Doing the most random shit with the mission editor will always be the most fun i have with DCS, even if my crappy PC cant even handle airports and go 2 fps, i will always love the 60 billion Leopard 1 vs 1 SU-25T ahhh...
I want to see those light armored vehicles with the Mark and Mah deuce operated by the hooomans. As a scout with lightly armored Hummers in the cav, we would tear up some platoons of Bimps and Brdms during NTC. Given, we also had a section of Tows in the platoon with our boom boom sticks😊. But I think the scenario with the 100 insurgents would've been different with the vehicles being coordinated with human logic over AI. Either way, love these CH
Absolutely stelar work from CH once again and a really enjoyable video by GR. A Question that i have is, do I need combined arms to use the Mods by CH or can I just install them by themselfs (I'm new and I don't understand the who deal surrounding combined arms)
Ooooooooo the lovely, lovely Barrett M82A1 .50 cal Anti-Material Rifle. It's a good job they're not sold over here, they'd just find me with my nose pressed up against the gun shop window, whimpering and pawing at the glass... Hopefully Brandon Herrera will still finish the AK-50 now he's running for Congress, then CH can work his sorcery with some more .50BMG goodness 🥰🥰
Hey CH, I'm not familiar with making units for DCS, but I know that when making units for games it's important to not overdo the graphics quality to avoid slowdowns. Do you take that into account or does DCS automatically use low quality LODs when things turn into a slideshow? I noticed how good your units look but also wondered if that causes issues when you have a hundred of them in one area.
CH mentioned the M4 & M249. I wonder if he'll do the XM7 & XM250, maybe once the "X" has been dropped when they're placed in active front line service (first with the Ranger regiments late this year or early next year, I think?) and they're officially just the M7 & M250. And perhaps MG-338, which I believe is already in service, at least in limited numbers with some SF and other SOF units right now.
The "Challenger 3" there is not a Challenger 3 it's a Challenger 3 demonstrator vehicle, and they have only just begun construction of the actual challenger 3 prototype. Also on another note the challenger 3 will have the L55A1 smoothbore gun and will be a much faster tank than the challenger 2 !!
This video was a hoot, lol. Since the game (obviously) focuses on large scale conflicts, it's fine (in my opinion) for not great animations / ground combat visuals. Just makes it so funny to watch them up close. Realistically, yeah there's a good chance that first guy would have said "screw this" and run
These look like a fun way to spice up hunt the general. Pls could you do some missions featuring some of CH s stuff .and pleeease reinstate Sunday funday I miss the shenanigans and end of mission sillies ,and where's RC ? Surely its time to unchain him from the cellar 😂 love the channel keep up the great work fellas
It seems like CH is releasing 5 or so mods a week and the quality is excellent... I'm wondering how much time he puts into making them in order to maintain this current production rate..? Also, do you have any recommendations for anyone looking to get into modding..? Like, is there a DCS dev package or are 3rd party apps (like Blender) used and what coding experience is necessary...? Great stuff again!
Okay, the MRAP is highly armored. No AK47 round is going to penetraite it! RPG yes, Heavy MG yes (14.5) but not a 7.62 or a 5.56. So your modle is wrong. They are more armored than the BTRs.
The Street Light Transparencies are terrible. The "hidden line" mesh might not have been turned off prior to saving those files. That's the only reason I can think of that we'd see that wire-fence-like mesh mess at the outer edge of the posts, especially those a bit further away. PS> I take it the CH Models are not ready for download or purchase yet eh ?
Thanks CH for all your work. Love watching you guys. Can we have a naval battle - Chinese type 55s Vs US Carrier group?

can we have nuke sim@@grimreapers
@@grimreapersreceived with thanks boss. My bad, totally forgot about that video.
It’s remarkable how much kit CH has pumped out.

He's a top bloke! DCS really, really need to hire him. Now, you just got to have Hinds and Kamovs vs. Challenger 3!
15:55 Cap and CH accidentally set up a great example of a reverse slope defense.

Reverse Slope Defence appears to be best defence.
Much respect to CH. Guy is a legend.
Hahahahahaha these are the best type of videos, you and CH are hilarious. I can’t wait for the rest of the infantry assets

The third is the Browning Automatic Rifle M1918 (to me)
Apfsds yeah sabot is just fine lol
That's real stopping power right there. Two world wars, borther 👍🏻
I spit out my drink when you shot the pyramid. 😂
the MK 19 and the M320 in US use almost exclusively use HEDP which has a shape charge and a fragmentation sleeve.

Over 27000 MRAP were produced of various models in the 2000s. The largest variants weighing in at over 30 tons. They are beasts.
Great stuff CH!! Can't wait for Cap to use them in a mission :)
I come for the brilliant commentary, and the game play is just icing on the cake.
23:44. And that's how baby tanks are made
The fire extinguishers are to use to go back in and get the crew if the outside is on fire or the crew to use to go get another crew or a separate vehicle out of their burning vehicle.

Holy crap, good old Oshkosh. On Wisconsin! :) Been by their plant once on the way to the EEA fly-in and it's pretty big.
28:11 I certainly hope you made them tougher than the Humvee...
with all these ground assets, it might be worth it to do a 'low level' operation featuring mostly ground units and helicopters.
I LOL'd at the hatred in his eyes 🤣
God the ground units in this need a serious core update and polish
I wonder how many MRAPs it would take to halt the Pearl Harbor Raid.
I like how Cap is willing to make jokes about church and such things eg “not protected apart from they’ve just been to FRIGGIN church”
Yeh the big G enjoys a good joke.
The Showing them blow up and be realistic is a far better selling point then some biased, kids ego toy. Well done CH top quality as always

Speaking as a retired infantryman, I always enjoyed making tankers miserable.
It would be nice to actually see operations involving those
LOve your work, CH ! Thanks for showcasing these new assets from CH, Cap...😀 +1
It shouldn't be an M82 that is the civilian version. It should be the M107A1 which has several significant upgrades.
