Totally understand that. Brotherhood definitely definitely has some of the best side missions in the whole trilogy. These three games are all so good I could almost never tell someone they’re wrong no matter how they rank them.
@@diglo123 Yes because in AC 2 you had multiple cities scattered around and you had to traverse through them by seeing a loading screen. But Rome is one big city where you can ride a horse to make traversal easier
4:55 That is also why I love Assassin's Creed as a whole because it shows us time periods that we normally wouldn't see in any other videogame. Even if the AC game in question is not as good as the others, you can't deny how beautiful and outstanding each place is.
I don't know how to choose, tbh. They're all great games that each offer something of their own. AC2 for how Ezio became an Assassin and went form a carefree teen to a skilled assassin , Brotherhood for making Ezio a total badass and the leader of the Italian brotherhood, and Revelations for concluding Ezio's life as an Assassin. As for gameplay though. I tend to enjoy later titles more because the makers have had new ideas and added new features, so in the regard, Revelations is my favourite. :/
That's very true. All the games do offer slightly different things that make each great. Even Brotherhood being my least favorite is still an awesome game that makes you feel like a total badass from beginning to end like you stated. Also you are right the games get slightly more advanced and objectively better looking. That's one knock I have against AC2 some of those character models are ROUGH!
My favorite is Revelations because it had Brotherhood's fun gameplay along with a more powerful narrative. In terms of narrative, I appreciated very much how the writers mixed the depth of the original Assassin's Creed game with the more personal and emotional tone of Assassin's Creed II, making it easily the best in the franchise.
just found your channel while doing a ac2 - ac unityy replay. i just finished ac2. your content is great, even tho i only checked the ac stuff. i would love to see more of it, as long as its not about the rpg games
I first read the book to AC:2, then brotherhood, and that's what got me into playing the games. that's what motivated my into buying revelations. Never played AC:2 or brotherhood; but hey, learning Italian, Latin and French is still something that benefits.
Did the books add anything to the experience for you? Like did it make you like certain characters more? Speaking to learning from these games, I always thought it was cool in high school being somewhat familiar with certain historical figures like the Medicis because of these games.
@@solidvick I certainly love Ezio in the books, getting to read about his precise moods and how he effects those around him is awesome. But with the languages, I love how I can mess with my friends by saying 'Cazzo' or 'mi dispiace' in general situations. It really confuzzles them. As for adding to the experience, the books are what really brought me into the fandom, and because I didn't know how Ezio looked or what the setting looked like in AC: 2, I quite literally thought Ezio was an assassin to begin with; and that he was on a damn roof when he picked a fight with the Pazzi. later on I saw snippets of the cutscenes I had read and had to really dig into Ezio's story before completely understanding. Other than that I completely agree with learning about certain historical figures.
@@arnoafonso9125 That’s such a cool way to first really dive into the series! I might have to check out those books for myself. I love when stories really take their time to dig into how a characters is feeling and thinking.
@@solidvick So do I! Although I have recently noticed some differences in the books, they do not include side characters like Desmond- they cut out Altair's story in the main books and settled with giving him his own. Kinda weird, but I guess the writers simply want each and every book to be focused on one main character. :D
I'd say they are pretty close to each other but they are different. If I have to choose one I'd go for AC2: Great parkour is a mix of good mechanics and good maps, and in AC2 you get so much more variety than in the following entries, I never get tired. It also has the best story in terms of progress and pacing among the 3 imo. Everything feels like it fits together. Lastly, the Truth segments of this game were what got me into puzzles and cyphers, and the world-building was top tier. I freaking love having assassin apprentices in AC: B, recruiting them and watching them grow into full assassins, it even feels way better than the AC: R apprentices mechanic, where it got really confusing for some reason. It also had a lot of extra content to enjoy (a bit too much maybe? I finished the main story and was still left with tons of missions that chronologically should've happened sequences ago lol). AC: R has all the parkour mechanics from the previous games + a few more + a great map. I even loved seeing assassin's from another culture and their tactics. But it lacks the variety of AC2 and the action is too Michael Bay-ish over the top for me + some story points I sadly hated because Ezio felt really out of character (killing dozens of innocent civilians just to create a distraction? really??).
This will forever be up for argument within the AC community. My personal favorite of the three is Brotherhood. It definitely has the best world of the three, and the most alive for sure. But, Revelations definitely has the more refined gameplay, plus to this day has some of the best parkour/traversal in the whole series. Whereas AC II, despite its variety, the worlds just dont feel as alive and fun as Brotherhoods Rome or Revelations Constantinople. BUT, my GOD the Narrative and Ezios journey is by far the best of the three games. So, realistically it depends on what you want out of your AC game. I feel those who prioritize the open world first, probably edge towards Brotherhood, those who prioritize story will sway towards AC II. Whereas, Revelations is somewhere in the middle, which is why i always feel that for the most part, it gets overlooked often. Despite the awesome gameplay, interesting world and solid narrative.
Honestly this is how I feel about the series as a whole. It’s been around long enough and has changed enough their are different fans of the series for different reasons. It’s something I’m exciting to talk about once I get to the more RPG inspired entries to the series.
Personally the original Ac 2 was my favorite. the main reason of why is because I remember staying up late at night when I wasn't supposed to play assassin's Creed II and me and my friend would always play asleep when my parents walked by. But I like it so much because it was my first ever AC.
I just played through the trilogy for the first time, besides 2 which I played as a kid, and found Revelations to have the best balance of great story and fun gameplay. Never played the first AC game, but I imagine if I had, the Altaïr stuff would have been even more impactful.
The one that FEELS the best in the world and the story is AC2. People rarely talk about Brotherhood for story and more about Revelations but the JOURNEY and the VIBE AC2 is by far the best. Revelations is a great game and I LOVE it and Brotherhood has the best combat. But the story, the feel, the music, the journey itself, the character growth are the best in AC2. I replay AC2 every year and boot it up monthly. Just to be in the world. And for brotherhood and revelations it's just a good game. They aren't as captivating. Thank you for your video.
I love AC Brotherhood but AC2 is my personal favorite. While all of the games in the Ezio trilogy are fantastic, none of the other 2 games gave me the feeling I got from playing AC2 for the first time. Seeing Ezio as a young man watching half of his family murdered, all of Villa Auditore features in Monteriggioni. AC2 is imo the best Assassin's Creed game ever made.
True, I think I was too hard on the game during my replay, and I think it hurts it a little if you play ac2 and brotherhood back to back. Overall I think back on my time with the game VERY fondly.
Well, even thought i played Assasins creed series few times, and some games based on Prince of Persia which is similar content, but different story. from ASC 1 around 2 times , whole ASC 2 series around 2 times, ASC in order from ASC 3 to Unity, then Oddysey. And i have to say, that the asc 2 trilogy is the most charming, when it comes to story and feelings over main character , In the whole series. where combination with your environment, people, monks, everyone seems to be all right in that time. Think that the story line is best in the first ASC2 , since you are not killing machine, you are just young guy, who is slowly proggressing , slowly learning (earning weapons, skills just like first fighting with a stick to get a sword later) . while having some limited/if free way of taking down your enemies, what i hated in other series which started with Brotherhood and revelation was that 100% synchronization, because it made me pretty much angry few times like, example : when you jump at guard to assasinate him, and he sees you, in mid air half a second, before are stabbing him, making your synchronization go into ragequit, otherwise liked the story progression, like having crossbow , parachute, unique armor, being able to be killing machine even with bare hands. And i thing, that i was kind of sad, that you couldnt change your own outfit, in brotherhood/revelation , just like your assasins apprentices, example : having whole set of weapons (big bearded axe , knife , crossbow , plenty of knifes , plated gauntled ) , or having limited armor/weaponry, which could give you bonuses, on climbing/swimming, running faster, or even detection meters going a bit slower since , colors on your outfit could immitate guards, didnt wanted something like in Unity, but only a little changes, that could help you just a bit. It kind of reminds me of old Prince of Persia Series from 2003 to 2005 - In the first game sands of time, you are young guy learning ropes, of who what and why. In the second one, you kind of know what to do, but have to work hard to get it, while turning into killing machine, in the last one you think you know what to expect, but you will get suprised with some new equipment/skills, turns in the story, which leads to think about what you were doing all that time before, what you can use, and what you can do today. These are mine opinions, didn't wanted to write whole bible, but each game would deserve whole book to write , for each game in the series, why they are good or bad.
@@solidvickThank you for hearing me out, some people call it spamming, instead of actually reading it , while you are writing all your heart and soul , how you feel about the games. Keep making videos like these, nice editing too, Stay awesome and take care. :D
AC Revelations is clearly the weakest link in the trilogy. The Desmond story is evidently placeholder, while Ezio himself has zero stakes in the story until the penultimate sequence. While the ending is spectacular and his relationship with Sofia is built-up very well, he simply has no agency throughout 90% of the story. Moreover, the story of Revelations is so ridiculously short, that they had to move traditional side content (i.e. the assassin tombs) into the main story just to compensate. Meanwhile the remaining side content is abysmal. Whereas Brotherhood had each side mission feel like another step in the overall story of taking down the Borgia, the side content of Revelations is not only lacking, but feels very detached. At no point does it actually relate to the Altaïr story, or the Selim/Ahmet story. The new types of side content introduced are atrocious. There's the den defence which is so notoriously annoying, everyone avoids it. As for the Mediterranean Defence, not only is it extremely tedious to gain full control over all cities, but there's no end-game, no point where you can stop having to micromanage your assassins. Even if you hold 100% control over all cities with a complete team of fully trained assassins in each of them, you're still expected to micromanage them every twenty minutes. This makes roaming the city post-ending annoying: instead of just being able to explore the city and goof around, you are still required to play Mediterranean Defence every 20 minutes. Then there's the gameplay. While every previous game had been a step forward, Revelations is a step back from Brotherhood. Brotherhood made horses an integral part of gameplay? Revelations removes them entirely. Brotherhood introduced a fighting system where swords etc. had longer windows to counter attacks, but couldn't block heavy or long weapons, whereas hidden blades could block every single weapon, but had a shorter window to counter them. Players could therefore choose the weapon that suited their gameplay style the most. Revelations, meanwhile, made it so that ANY weapon can block heavy weapons and NO weapon can block long weapons, while retaining the shorter window for the hidden blades. In other words: hidden blades have objectively become the worse choice. On top of that combat ends in a ridiculous slow motion move now. The new mechanics (bombs and hookblade) just aren't that much fun and are usually just ignored for most of the game. Finally, the notoriety system is rendered completely pointless in this game: Ottomans will ignore you and Byzantines will spot you, regardless of notoriety: it only affects the tedious Den Defence system. There are innumerable instances which show the game simply is not finished, such as the wells you can blow open around the city. Doing so will tell you there are 31 wells to blow open across the city and give you a counter for the number of remaining wells. Only, in reality there are only 27 such wells, making it impossible to complete this side quest. Even in the remastered version of the game, this has not been fixed. Then there's the character models. Desmond and Ezio look like Neanderthals in this game. They look absolutely nothing like their previous models. Ezio does not look like an aged Ezio, but like a completely new character. Funnily enough, his model in Embers DOES look like Ezio. Simultaneously all the armour in the game looks hideous. I know we criticised the Brutus armour in Brotherhood, but by God I wear that outfit at all times in Revelations, since it's way better than any alternative (the armour of Ishak Pasha with its horrendous mask being the worst offender). Constantinople, while a fascinating city in real life, is extremely lackluster in game. Whereas Rome had various distinct districts with different soundtracks, atmospheres and aesthetics, Constantinople's districts (with the exception of the slums to the west) look indistinguishable. The soundtrack is the same no matter where you go in the city. On top of that, the sun actually turns the wrong way in Constantinople: it rises in the west, passes through the north and sets in the east. - how did no one catch on to this during development? To add insult to injury, upgrading Monteriggioni and Rome had a very distinct influence on the city. The city would look cleaner, the inhabitants would become more dense, more richly dressed, the number of beggars would decrease, the soundtrack would change and even the weather would improve. In Brotherhood, buying aqueducts would actually renovate them. Buying property in Revelations doesn't improve the city in any way, save the opening of the shop you purchased. Finally, I cannot emphasise enough how much I despise the "Lucy was a Templar all along" plot twist. AC I forces you to see her in eagle vision at the end, revealing her beyond any doubt as an ally, as she is blue. Eagle vision is depicted as flawless all the way up to this game. This is why you can never interact with Al Muslim until the end of AC I, else you could confirm his treachery well before its reveal or the game would have to make eagle vision be wrong. The same goes for Uberto Alberti in AC II. Ezio sticks with Machiavelli through thick and thin in ACB because he instinctively knows he can trust him - and is proven right in the end. Lucy suddenly being a Templar is thus a gaping plot hole, and a twist that was clearly only invented last minute. To summarise: while every previous game in the series had been an improvement over its predecessor, ACR is the first game which feels like a marked step back. That to me easily makes it the weakest link in the Ezio trilogy. There are definitely worse games in the franchise and the final scene with Ezio is one of the highlights of the series. But that alone is not enough to redeem this game.
What AC II did better than AC Brotherhood: more different locations assasin's tombs the Truth racing missions (+ "Venice Rooftops") bigger scope of the story armor of Altair 'playing as Batman' What *AC Brotherhood* did better than AC II: combat (+more weapons) more side missions (+Da Vinci's machines) creating your own brotherhood renovation of Rome modern-times plotline soundtrack 100% synchronization multiplayer (I just wish I were able to play it) the ability to replay certain memories without restaring your whole game What AC Revelations did better than AC Brotherhood: hookblade bombs brotherhood missions Den defenses more challenging combat 'playing as Batman'
Brotherhood is best for me. Has better gameplay and more content than ac 2 and far better story and atmosphere than ac revelations. Maybe rebellions is second and ac 2 is probably my least favorite, maybe because I ironically played it last.
My ranking is: AC revelations AC 2 AC brotherhood I also disagree for saying AC 2 is a full package because the story is.... really ordinary and the parkour is a little frustrating for me but revelations has one of the best story of the entire franchise and a good but not the best parkour(because of the small map) and side actvities are better than AC 2 And the combat was a little better than others with a new type enemy(janisarry) and and the system of making bombs makes the combat lively(all just my opinion)
I remember loving all 3. I'm replaying them now. I think people give brotherhood a bad rap. It's perfect for what part 2 of a 3 part series should do. Part 1 should make you love the character and set up a great story. Part 2 should have as many things as possible to make the player OP so that as many people as possible further connect to the character. The story should also advance and be good, but should obviously be somewhat nconclusive and show the vulnerability of the OP character you just played as. This game was also the most visually stunning, further drawing you in to all the new cool abilities. Part 3 should have a few new things to add on top and make it feel fresh, and the story should be wrapped up. This entire series was spectacular from top to bottom.
This was a great read and I definitely agree. I think i come across a little harsh about my opinion on brotherhood in my vids. All these games are spectacular for different reasons you listed!

Couldn’t agree more! More people need to read this comment 🔥
What AC II did better than AC Brotherhood:
more different locations
assasin's tombs
the Truth
racing missions (+ "Venice Rooftops")
bigger scope of the story
armor of Altair
'playing as Batman'
What *AC Brotherhood* did better than AC II:
combat (+more weapons)
more side missions (+Da Vinci's machines)
creating your own brotherhood
renovation of Rome
modern-times plotline
soundtrack
100% synchronization
multiplayer (I just wish I were able to play it)
the ability to replay certain memories without restaring your whole game
What AC Revelations did better than AC Brotherhood:
hookblade
bombs
brotherhood missions
Den defenses
more challenging combat
'playing as Batman'
Whole Ezio trilogy is the best. Better than all other AC.
As2 is my favorite as well
Is it me or does Ezio’s smile in ac2 slowly turn into a frown over ac brotherhood and ac revelations
Nexus is pretty much revalations in Vr
Brotherhood is best for me. Has better gameplay and more content than ac 2 and far better story and atmosphere than ac revelations. Maybe rebellions is second and ac 2 is probably my least favorite, maybe because I ironically played it last.
Revelations was a weak game story aside.
Such a disappointment, the trailers made it seem like it would be an equal amount of Altair,Ezio and Desmond
I hate how people talk shit about Valhalla and Odyssey like Origins and the same lol.
My ranking is:
AC revelations
AC 2
AC brotherhood
I also disagree for saying AC 2 is a full package because the story is.... really ordinary and the parkour is a little frustrating for me but revelations has one of the best story of the entire franchise and a good but not the best parkour(because of the small map) and side actvities are better than AC 2
And the combat was a little better than others with a new type enemy(janisarry) and and the system of making bombs makes the combat lively(all just my opinion)
My list is the same if you swap AC II and brotherhood. lol
I personally liked ac 2 more than brotherhood ngl.
1° ac 2
2° ac revelations
3° ac brotherhood
