I love the way you do your videos Robbie. It's like being right there with you sharing your journey like a mate by your side. Does that make sense? Picturesque scenes and listening to the sound of your boat trugging along fills me with a sense of tranquility and stillness that delights my inner being. I love the gentleness of the canal. What a life it would be to live it, one can only dream and some people get to live their dreams. Maybe one day I could live mine, just like you're living yours. Thanks for doing these videos. Brilliant stuff 👌
The zen of locks, and it's ABOUT TIME someone explained to boaters why they shouldn't use their boats to open lock gates. I do like a nice fry-up, but haven't been able to satisfy that urge in years.
Never forget that you make the best canal adventure vlogs in the RUclips world. Pub of the week spots really always a favorite too, so keep on cranking Robbie!
That was brilliant, just what we needed. Watched this with tea and toast in front of the log burner....living the dream 😂😂Thanks for a lovely update 👍🏻👍🏻
Very nice! Was getting a bit worried when you hadn't posted in a bit, then had a good laugh watching you note how many get into your videos. Yep, that many. Nice sampler of the beers at The Leggers Inn, and great pub name! Laundry and chow to round it all off, nicely done! 👍
We cruised there a number of year ago to visit South Pennine Boat Club, lovely club there, went to club rally, lovely canal, we did struggle a bit on Calder & Hebble as our narrowboat was 60' and the locks only 57' but we managed to wangle our way through. Happy memories.
Robbie I think you are a good youtuber your canal boat is lovely and I know a teacher at my school who lives in a canal boat keep it up with the vidioes and as always keep on crancking it
My son and myself have been watching yourCanal boat diaries every night as his calm down time as it’s the only program that he will sit down to I am so pleased to find you on her as he can watch this as well at his school they have said he has come on so far as now he will talk and show an interest in learning they have even shown the shows in class thank you my boys now talking instead of squeaking
If you need to stop water leaking between the closed lock gates, You can slide a barge pole down between the lock gates, it will really help stop water from leaking through. Obviously once you’re done, you remove your pole and proceed to crank it .🙂🐿🌈❤️
Glad someone else likes to do the locks themselves. I get out of sync when people help and end up leaving paddles open etc. Good to see boats moving. Stuck near my mooring on the Caldon Canal. Closed for repairs last autumn and not reopening until the end of June at the earliest. Still, a very pretty stretch between Endon and Consall Forge. Enjoyed the C&H years ago.
Breakfast looks good Robbie. When it was on the plate at least 😏 Really like the idea of the taster rack too, great idea to get one with a mate and work out which pint you want. Seems far more civilised than "lets have a taste of your pint cos I don't know if I like mine"...... 🤣🤣
we are the same when people say go that route not many locks we find it boring except going to Birmingham bit to many locks but worth the trip have a look on my you tube on doing the canal rose painting :) do love your videos keep going :)
Robbie I’m really glad you are still producing content. Many of th boattubers I follow have sold thier boats. This is anothe classic. I really appreciate you ending on the English Breakfast and not the LSAN.
As a Yank I still don’t get how beans are a breakfast thing. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️. Maybe if it’s an early picnic. Does it have something to do with the royalty?? They sit on gold thrones and the serfs eat beans or because of brexit you all can’t get anything good from the main land?? Just kidding hoping one day to experience a real life English breakfast some day. Hey if you ever throw up a sail on your ship and make it over here to Washington state I’ll build a mooring in the yard for you. 👍👍👍👍. Love you channel buddy. ❤👍❤👍 great stuff!!
Just two of those Ale taster racks would be worth the price of admission alone. That is of course if that pub of the week charged an entry fee, Which obviously they don't, but if they... well you catch my drift ;) A velvety variety on your taste buds is the spice of life and all that jazz.
Watched this Vlog eating my evening meal. Loved the Vlog Robbie. You always make things so interesting. I loved being around the lock with you (virtually) which was fascinating. Have a great week, See you next time. Take care.
I just want to say I love your videos Robbie. I think your production skills are improving all the time and it must take hours to edit and produce each one. They are thoroughly appreciated by me. I feel like I have had a little holiday myself after watching your vlogs, so relaxing! Please keep doing what you do!
Our cat Arthur is beside me. Thank you for recording these very enjoyable canal journeys. I love the whole canal environment and the rural scenery. Thanks immensely Robbie.
Another great blog Robbie, lovely blue skies but leaves not quite out on the trees yet. Love travelling along with you as ever. Keep cranking, Margaret x
I've worked with my hands my whole life and operating a lock seems like fun to me. Even my wife want to do it, surprise. Hope I can do it someday. Saving for it, maybe next year. Thanks for your videos and of course the hard job of 'pub of the week'.
15:04 - Calder & Hebble Navigation "Transport route for Shoddy & Mungo" !! What great Northern words! FYI - Shoddy originally meant 'rag-wool' but evolved to mean "work of an inferior nature" due to the necessity during the Napoleonic wars to re-use of waste wool in manufacturing new fibre because of the embargoes limiting raw wool imports. Originally used for padding, manufacturers began making coarse wearing clothes from it. When new it looked like higher quality 'broadcloth' but the gloss quickly wore off, giving the reputation of being cheated - hence what we now call 'shoddy'.
Always like coming along with you, looking over your shoulder as you either take me over old ground i have already covered over the years, or seeing the few bits, i never got to see, but never boring with you. Always good to come along, might hear some more of your great guitar musics haunting melodies.
What a belter! Thanks Robbie. One for another day: The Sair Inn near the Titantic Mill on Huddersfield Narrow. A pint of Enoch's Hammer is er knockout. Of course it would be
Another great one! 🤗 Missing my fave tune though Rob, de de de de de de de de de, de de de de de de de de de, de de de de de de de de, de de de de de de de de de ... love it!
I agree with you Robbie on locks - the more the merrier is my way of thinking! Unfortunately my crew doesn't but equally won't let me do them on my own and have to come out of the boat to help at every one - why? Great video as usual, keep them cranking😆
Thanks for cheering me up Robbie. Lying on my back having pulled a muscle in it yesterday trying to get rid of a dead tree! Your videos make me feel I’m there with you sharing the journey and I so like the calming (to me!) and humourous nature of your vlogs. Your music is good too. Keep ‘em coming.
Great work Robbie. This is a beautifully crafted Voyage Log. I really like the title graphics, music credit and location drop-in"s. As always, great camera angles and beautifully shot.
Watched this with my morning coffee. What a wonderful way to start the day. Thanks Robbie!

That made me feel sooooo hungry the joys of been married to a vegatarian 🤣😭🤣😭
Leggers Inn and legless out 😉🍻🍺
Cranking that first paddle reminded me of those tin jack-in-a-box toys with a sad erratic "Pop goes the weasel" as you turn the handle, lol!
Nice one I say that's vlooooggg of the weeeek brilliant
Fab vlog. Great idea rack of sample beers. Like it. Best wishes
"Lock / Pub"
Vid delivers what it promises
Looks like a nice flight of beers...my choice is a flight of wine and brie cheese with toasted almonds and a baguette...oh , the memories..!!!!
The zen of locks, and it's ABOUT TIME someone explained to boaters why they shouldn't use their boats to open lock gates. I do like a nice fry-up, but haven't been able to satisfy that urge in years.
I love the bridges , bricks , old building and fences. Thanks for sharing.
That Dewsbury arm looked a lot better than our last visit a number of years ago, Breakfast looked good to.
You carnt beat the North for real ale and English breakfast at a working man’s price
Watching this while watching the us stock market plunge off the deep end.
Never forget that you make the best canal adventure vlogs in the RUclips world. Pub of the week spots really always a favorite too, so keep on cranking Robbie!
Thank you thats too kind
Brilliant light show on bridge after you turned into arm. Thanks for vlogs Robbie .
That was brilliant, just what we needed. Watched this with tea and toast in front of the log burner....living the dream 😂😂Thanks for a lovely update 👍🏻👍🏻

A sample rack? That’s AWESOME

Incredible! I found school very difficult to concentrate/hard to relate to so well done for finding another way 👍
Loved the way they place the beans! I never, just once I did, ate the beans! ;
I'd have gone for a pint of Duck Baffler 😀
I dont drink (much) anymore, but i want a pint of Duck Baffler! Never tried it, probably never will....but i want to lol !

Loved the cruise didn’t realise you were near Dewsbury don’t think we’ve walked that part. Love following your journey
I think I didn’t realise the time it takes to go through the locks and how much you are on and off the boat.
Just watched brilliant as usual 👍
I own a narrow because of you Robbie 👍👍 keep the vlogs coming
Oh ok well don’t blame me when it goes wrong 😂👍

Moor Pin SAFETY
Dress the hammered end of your pin.
Dont get a metal fragment shoot off into your leg like MinimalList Mike

Great posting again Robbie, especially The Leggers. A guide to all these Pub's of the Week would be a best seller to locals and tourists.

Met a guy on this section who said two years ago he entered a lock, could not get the paddles to work, so reversed a mile to the nearest winding hole!
Brilliant Robbie

What a legend. 👏👏👏I’m off to that pub. Great vlog Robbie.
I'm glad you like actuating the locks. I sort of assumed they were a necessary chore to be endured.
I agree with you Robbie on locks - the more the merrier is my way of thinking! Unfortunately my crew doesn't but equally won't let me do them on my own and have to come out of the boat to help at every one - why? Great video as usual, keep them cranking😆
