Hello and Happy New Year! What a great way to start off the year with one of the most amazing singers I have ever heard. This time, rather than listening for just enjoyment, I wanted to react and evaluate as best I can, first time listen through, and just see where it goes.
As always, be sure to watch the original video first. :D

On January 16, the TIXR streaming platform hosted an online concert DIMASH DIGITAL SHOW, where the artist performed 'SOS D'un Terrien En Détresse'. Dimash Qudaibergen performed the song "SOS" in the 1st round of the Chinese contest" I am a Singer " in 2017. The next day, more than 600 million viewers learned about Dimash.
    Lyrics: Luc Plamondon
    Composed: Michel Berger
    Original Singer: Daniel Balavoine (1978)
DIMASH DIGITAL SHOW is the first global performance of a Kazakh singer since the start of the global pandemic. An international team of 140 people worked on the organization of the online concert, where modern television and virtual technologies were integrated.

    The song itself is from
Starmania a Canadian-French cyberpunk rock opera written in 1976.
👼🏻Gregory Lemarchal was a young French singer who was the inspiration for DIMASH to sing 🆘
    “SOS d'un terrien en detresse"
Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at a young age, Gregory defined all odds
and won the fourth series of the singing contest Star Academy. He became an overnight sensation in France and went on to have a successful career. He was known for "La voix d'un ange"- the voice of an angel.
Gregory succumbed to his illness at the age of 23. 💔
This video is a tribute to his memory. 🥺😢😭💔❤️‍🩹❤️
So that there in no confusion as too “WHY DIMASH” sings this song. It is the

One less known things about Dimash is that his vocal folds are abnormal larger than a typical person, I believe this is one aspect of how he does what people find impossible, the rest is genetics, massive training from a very young age along with his genuine love for music. His sung range G0-D8

    • @bass2yang
      @bass2yang  Год назад +24

This is interesting - it would explain the fact that he can maintain such a sound up high as well as down low (in addition to his training as well) - in my studies, airflow and proper vocal fold closure is the bulk of the battle and it sounds like he has it in spades. Thanks for your input!

I have to agree 100%. This is his first time hearing Dimash and he immediately picks up everything and realizes the effort and masterpiece that is created. Sometimes I don't always go to the very end anymore on first reactioners but I'm glad I did on this guy. He kept repeating and wanting to hear exactly what was happening on those last moments we all do. Then you hear his great reasoning and education on how the performance is better than anybody else I've seen. There are many many many many good first reactioners to Dimash. It will give you a lot of opportunity to hear his voice in its natural state. Yes, Dimash uses his great range and abilities to express the emotions of the songs he sings, not just to show his talent. He says that the most important thing is to sing beautifully and he has worked very hard to be able to do this.

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "POPera" he also has a very pleasant, HUMBLE and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, counter TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from USA 🇺🇸 "Dears" Forever ❤️ Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. A great and detailed analysis of all the nuances and techniques Dimash displays here. Compelling, amazing, skillful, and micro- intentional are just some accurate descriptions, and all 'built', as you observe, on a solid bel canto classical base. But Dimash has also studied EVERY Genre, including all aspects of contemporary, jazz, pop, and also musical theatre. He explores traditional music / vocal forms from across the world, and has recently completed post-graduate studies in composition.
He is also, and unsurprisingly, a multi-instrumentalist, and sings in over 15 languages, whilst being conversational in 4-5. He takes care of his instrument very well, also, and maintains physical fitness, including swimming a lot, in order to maintain and expand his lung capacity. In this way he reminds me, very much, of a Gold Standard Olympic Athlete!
You are right in that he is someone who is likely his own worst critic, and works on continual improvement. He has stated that he finds it difficult to watch vocal coaches reactons to his work, as he is sure "they will pick up on all my mistakes" !!! He makes very few!
Dimash 'chose' his genetics very well. Both parents are well known singers in his native Kazakhstan, and he commenced his musical training from the age of 5. So he already has 20+ years of daily crafting of his artistry to access.
My firm belief is that Dimash started tuning his ear to perfect pitch in the womb, and there are numerous neuro-developmental studies that support this.
We now know that infants exposed to classical and other complex musical forms - in utero - develop speech and balance and fine motor control much earlier than others.
There is an early video which shows Dimash singing with his parents, and the aspect that grabs my attention the most is his mothers clear and piercingly bright soprano voice, as well as their vibrato's perfectly matching, which I guess is unsurprising!
Enjoy your further exploration of this amazing artist. Regards, L

A most highly musically educated, up to presently over half way to his PhD, and still carrying on his education in other areas to improve his already unbelievable levels of ability. He is also very, very experienced, having been performing since the age of 5, getting his first award he won a national piano contest aged 6 and became a professional artist aged 16 in 2010. He has performed for presidents of many countries, and travelled the world with solo concerts in the biggest theatres and huge stadiums. He eats and sleeps music, he plays many instruments writes and composes. He also comes up with video ideas, writes storyboards, script and works closely with his directors. Soon he will go to the New York Film School in LA, very prestigious, to qualify as a Director. Dimash believes strongly that to do any job you need a good education and qualification. He is a very modest young man who takes his chosen path in life very seriously and is a consummate professional in all he does. He is very aware that he needs to be a good role model, this is important to him so he always does his best to live decently. It's a Legendary performance...... 2017 SOS on the Singer competition in China is amazing too - 650M hits on China Social Media when it was aired 2 weeks later..... Dimash is the best Vocalist on Earth - bar None.... Live he can not be touched by Anyone & I spent 30 yrs in the industry & seen every act live you can imagine & he is just Different...... Live his voice moves thru you..... F sharp 5 Mix feels like shock waves moving thru your cell walls...... 2000-2010 france had utter fascination for this style of french pop and the tenors/counter tenors that could perform in this "style" which culminated with Gregory Lemarchal, a young french tenor performing this exact song on tv and breaking audience record, at the time everyone had heard this song.

That is so cool - thank you for your insight! I need to verse myself in French pop more often - such a beautiful language, especially because the tone and context is crucial to understanding the language (actually, very similar to Hmong for the Asian language, at least in my head that's how it is working).

She’s a dramatic contralto with polyphonic and subharmonic abilities. “Can’t Help Falling in Love” on the Russian competition show “The ShowMaskGoon”. This was her first adult competition performance at age 18. Also I absolutely recommend and would love an analysis for “The Story of One Sky” by Dimash. The live fancam (from Vietnam fan club) or the incredible music video, that imo, being 67, have never seen or heard anything more powerful. Oscar and Emmy award nomination worthy. • @bass2yang

You are welcome! Yes, vibrato should always feel natural to the singer; you don't want them to have to work against the natural flow of their voice, even though it is possible to shape the intensity and rhythm of it. The conductor, within reason to the music, should always consider the needs of the soloist and invite them to be free in their approach and expression of the piece while delivering the expectations of the conductor. Always a pleasure to work and hear amazing singers. 🔥

    • @bass2yang
      @bass2yang  Год назад

Thank you! There are different schools of thought regarding this so sometimes they can feel like they mean the same, and other times they are completely different.
I do feel that there is some consensus on falsetto being disconnected and head voice/register being connected and/or light mechanism. But then you have reinforced falsetto, which is where you disconnect and try to reintroduce vocal fold closure to intensify the sound (like The Bee Gees, in terms of a notable reinforced falsetto sound) which is still different from pure head voice, at least in the way I am hearing it.
I try not to get into it too much because it does matter for some and not so much for others.
I can definitely agree on its musicality and really just want to be able to do both approaches well. Haha.
      Thank you!

His range as of right now -

I just clicked on this video to hear someone else appreciate dimash's amazing voice, but can I just take a moment to compliment yours? I seriously was not expecting to hear such a deep, smooth tone at the start. This is not intended to be a creepy comment, 😅 I am genuinely amazed by your speaking voice.
I really hope someone else has made this compliment so I don't sound like a crazy person🫣

His Stranger he has two lines at D2 and goes up to his F5 over six voices. Really displays his colors well.

I can't cite the specific source, but according to Dimash, a doctor noted that his vocal cords are longer than usual. I wonder if that explains why his 'triangle' requires less effort.

Hello, Yang! There are many recordings on the web where Dimash sings without a microphone, demonstrating his amazing range! Thanks.

    DIMASH IS THE G.O.A.T. 🐐 in 3 GALAXIES 👽 🇰🇿
Thank you for yr in depth & expert analysis 👏.
If you ever decide you need a side gig-- you probably already do this, but audio books, voice over & ASMR are a perfect match for yr succulent bass timbre.

Hello, Dear! I would like to thank you for this excellent professional analysis of this rendition of SOS from DQ, the best vocalist -- male or female -- of our time (or possibly all time).

@@bass2yang I wondered if you've seen any of his other renditions of it? I Am Singer (Chinese Voice Competition Reality type show), Slavic Bazaar (1 of my personal favorites), EMI Gala (also incredible) all different and each showing snapshots of his voice as it's developed over time. It's fascinating... 😇 There are many other renditions both before China and in concert as well that are all remarkable in their own way.

I think you would like Sinful Passion in the New Wave comp/concert in Sochi back about 2017-18, more recent Stranger on the same stage, and 2020 March Autumn Strong in Ukraine. Three out of this world songs out of hundreds.
