Thank you and yes I like when parks mark the trails. Sometimes the markers are random. This and Garner SP are the only parks that I seen put painted color markers on the rocks/trees. Thanks for watching and stopping by.
Thanks for a great tour! We are new to Texas and tomorrow taking a hike at Inks Lake. The campground looks great so we’ll definitely book for a future trip!
You won’t be disappointed! It’s a great park and wonderful swimming hole. If you have time check out the Longhorn Caverns, it’s down the road from Inks Lake. Safe travels and happy hiking 😊
Thanks Ronnie! This park amazing and definitely worth a visit. The Longhorn Caverns are in the same area too. This park reminded me of Garner SP, it was booked. Thanks for watching and always appreciate you swinging through.
I stayed here back in 2018. Those new restrooms look nice. We did a late night hike on those rocks, and that was exciting. I missed seeing the water hole, need to go back.
We didn’t even do all the trails, we spent half the time hiking and decided to enjoy the waterhole. I plan on camping here in the summer. The park was nice, clean and had something for everyone. I already want to go back lol.
This video was extremely informative. Thank you. I liked how you gave detailed information about the hikes, level of difficulty, and videos of destinations.
Ok, update! We went to this park and while the hike was challenging and fun, the swimming area was gorgeous. My kids literally jumped off that big rock for four hours and they weren’t ready to leave. So far, it’s been our favorite state park.
What’s crazy that this park has no bad campgrounds. Your surround by the lake and can just hang in your camping spot. The camp sites were booked the whole weekend. Thanks for stopping by and commenting :-)
Thanks 🙏, looking forward in coming back soon. I heard about the swimming hole and had to check it out. I think you and the kiddos would love this park.
I heard about the swimming hole in this park and wanted to check it out. It’s a nice park with updated facilities. The water felt great and had to jump in. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area. What’s crazy is the Longhorn Caverns are near this park. You could do two parks in one day if you wanted to.
Another fantastic park review! When we went, it was an insanely busy park. I'd love to go back and do several of those trails. Devil's Waterhole is a good one we did. Looks like you liked it too. 😁 Great campsite overview too. Nicely done. 💪
Thanks Takacs for the thoughtful comment 😊. I want to go back and finish the rest of the trails. It was over 90 degrees and we decided to jump in the Devil’s waterhole. Yes and the park was packed to capacity. What’s cool too, Longhorn caverns are near the park. Planning on going to that one soon. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Interesting video. Does the admission per person thing happen a lot in Texas for state parks? In Illinois state parks don't have entrance fees. There are a lot of semi-private places and gardens that have fees person or per car. I guess it makes sense to charge people actually using the park rather than a general tax with state or local government run parks.
If you have a park pass you can get in to all the parks at night cost. The State Park pass is $70 for the year. When I visited North Carolina the State Parks were free. Thanks for stopping by, my next video I used the 24mm EFS lens. I made the purchase after watching your video.
Man now that it's summer I've been wondering to myself what state parks have the best swimming spots. This devils waterhole seems to be near the top so far.
Thank you so much! Yes this park is perfect for Stargazing. Here's a Inks Lake SP trail map ----> (tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/inks-lake/map ) The best spot in my opinion is on the Pecan flat trail. It's the highest elevation of the park and you can see the dark night skies. If you don't want to hike in the dark and play it safe. Check out the Amphitheater trail, it's a short hike overlooking the water. Good luck on the date!
You will love this park, hopefully it's still warm. We jumped in the waterhole last October. Longhorn Caverns are next to Inks Lake as well. Safe travels and happy hiking!
@@MrSTravelQuest We like hiking all the Parks, our goal is to visit and camp in every park, (Easier said than done). But live just minutes away from Somerville SP and hike there almost weekly. Hopefully I might run into you there someday.
@@paulmilsaps4476 That’s our goal as well. Visit all the parks we have here in Texas. If you see us at the parks say hello. We love hiking and learning the history of each park.
Thank you 😊, we have over 90 State Parks. This is number 17 for us and looking to finish the year off with 20. How many state parks do y’all have in your state?
@@MrSTravelQuest That is a lot, but then Texas is huge!! We have 43 actual parks and then state forests and recreation areas as well here in Wisconsin. ;-)
I love the water falls, snow and trees you show in your videos. I know when I visited North Carolina they had state parks and National Forest. I think National Forest are awesome. You guys do a great job capturing the trails and parks.
@@MrSTravelQuest Thank you so much! I appreciate that. We do have National Forests as well. They have the best campgrounds - very woodsy! Thanks again - that means a lot to us!!

@@MrSTravelQuest campsites here seem to be all booked too. Normally into October they start to empty out. Not the case this year.
Great park review 🤙. We haven’t made it to this one yet but we’ve heard about the swimming hole. Nothing wrong with getting to swim while in October 😆
Thanks 🙏, looking forward in coming back soon. I heard about the swimming hole and had to check it out. I think you and the kiddos would love this park.
