Thank you Jim, from everyone in Michigan. You gave me some of the most memorable baseball moments in my lifetime. I was at the alcs game 5 against the Yankees which sent Detroit to one of its last World Series. I was about 10-12 and I was on my grandpas shoulders so I could see the game, we were about 6-7 rows back along the first base side. When the last out was caught by miggy on that pop up, the place erupted like a Roman colosseum, i will never forget that moment and Jim made that possible. Thank you skipper, for everything you did and continue to do for the game and city.❤
Jim Leyland has always been one of my favorite managers. Just the way he carried himself and the way he could get under an umpire's skin was something to behold. Glad they retired your number, 10, with the Tigers. Loved seeing Alan Trammell, Lou Whittaker, Jack Morris, Miguel Cabrera, Dan Perry Lance Parrish and more that I grew up watching. So proud of Jim!
@@OKCStormWatcher i happened to be at this ceremony. It was pretty cool. Miggy got a HUGE reaction as did Brandon Inge. The “LOUUUUUU” chants were echoing as well.
@@CallMeUnkle I heard them on the video. I could only imagine how the LOUUUU sounded like though. Miggy was one of my favorite players too. Inge is just so underrated too.
You can tell this ceremony is eating Hinch from the inside out. Jimmy Smokes would have gotten more from this current group. AJ manages by the laptop, not with heart and soul and guts. Doesn't stand up for his players, is a statue in the dugout, and there's no accountability for terrible play. To AJ, he's the most important and smartest guy in the room... just ask him, he'll tell you. Ship AJ and Harris both out of town. We miss you, Jim.
What joke. Never won a championship for the team. Ironic that he's getting a uniform he never wore retired as he was single handedly responsible for managers wearing leisure wear in the dugout instead of a uniform shirt. Front and center statue in my museum of the over-rated.
Wow, apparently you’ve never seen a Tigers game. Yes he may not won a championship in Detroit but had so many other accomplishments. And as far as your uniform comment, he did wear it every game while managing. The ignorance in your comment is astounding.

Currently commenting from Comerica; was there last night. Great ceremony, great game, great ending.

One of your favorites and you managed to spell his name wrong…?
@@CallMeUnkle I saw that I did. I've been watching Coach Leyland since the 90s too.

@@OKCStormWatcher The “LOUUU” was very loud. Leyland said himself that Inge was the best defensive 3rd baseman he ever saw.
Such a class act, I love baseball and this city.
My fav all-time manager, even if he never managed my team.
I have always been a fan of great managers. Tommy Lasorda, Dusty Baker, and Jim Leyland. So many others also
I GOT HIS AUTO TODAY ON A BASEBALL
Well deserved honor.
What an honor congratulations skip....
Leyland cusing out Bonds is classic.
Well done Skipper! 👏
The guys had to get approval to pull the drape down. It's time guys. It's time.

AJ couldn't manage his way out of a wet paper sack !
This comment didn't age well
The last GOOD manager the Tigers had !
AJ Hinch needs to watch the old tapes of Leyland's 8 years here and TAKE NOTES.... !
24 and 35 next
Bring Back the original Jake from State Farm

@@adamgwin81You don’t deserve to be a hof manager. Unless you’ve taken home rings.
He did win one in South Florida. Maybe we could hold a jersey retirement next season at Loan Depot park. Sounds fun eh?
@@Sonicfan323 Fair enough, but for Detroit? No
Let the man have his day.
