    What a fun passage. It looks like the family slipped into ocean life quite comfortably

    I'm tired, but it's good... Slowly pans away! Haha.
    I like how you have the jack lines setup. You can never have too much garlic! I've never seen another sailing channel do a live map before. That is really cool! Rail meat is great advice. I will remember that when I go sailing.

    It's a good contrast to some of the stronger winds that your family sails in. The light air may be slow, but it looks smooth and easy. Great video!!

    • @TheFosterJourney
      @TheFosterJourney  2 года назад

      Yes, we much enjoyed the lighter air, and it taught us a lot about patience when sailing.

    Seeing those cans of spices made me want to give a shoutout to Publix!! After the storms that have come through Florida in recent years Publix grocery stores have really been clutch providing food and water to affected communities.
    By the way, nice barracuda!!

    NICE sail. Absolutely great to see Olivia making more of a contribution to the video this time. Once she gains confidence and speaks more I really think she will be able to grow your channel a lot.

    I think I saw four jugs of diesel on Deck. When you did your Gulf Crossing I thought there were a dozen. What's the right number? Fred

    • @TheFosterJourney
      @TheFosterJourney  2 года назад

      Yep, it was a dozen. We've widdled it down to 6, but we only loaded 2 on this trip. We're trying to the get the minimal viable amount. This trip was a miscalculation of consumption.

    Question: Do y’all get seasick still or is that something that you overcome with time and never get again?

    Good work tacking down the Florida coast. I guess you can't go too far east cause the stream?

    • @TheFosterJourney
      @TheFosterJourney  2 года назад

      Yep, once you leave the Florida coast by a few nautical miles you start fighting the northward current of the Stream.

    Hello Fosters. The fish you caught was a barracuda or called a cuda for short. Depending what part of the world you are in, many locals will eat them and appreciate it as a gift. As far as I know most Americans, Brits, and Aussies don't eat them. But that may be because of the fear of ciguatera food poisoning associated with the larger cudas.

    • @TheFosterJourney
      @TheFosterJourney  2 года назад +1

      The more we read about barracuda, the more we're willing to try one. 🤞

    Did changing the impeller fix the temp? I have a Beneteau 373 with the same engine. Wondering what RPM you cruse. My engine has a red line of 3000 max continuous rpm is 2907 I usually cruise at 2500 and 6.8kts in calm seas. I plan 1.2 GPH?

    • @TheFosterJourney
      @TheFosterJourney  2 года назад

      We cruise around 2400-2500 and plan 4.5kts, .75gph. 8 hours for 5 gallons.

    I keep like 5 , 5gallon diesel cans on the deck. My tank holds 17 on my little Catalina. I suppose if I keep the RPM's too low I can get 16ish nautical miles to the gallon. Soooo if tides and winds agree that might get me 672 miles of motoring. Different subject though, I understand about the drone loss thing. If you don't get one of those Orange/Red Splash drones or stock up on $69.99 Amazon drones it can get expensive, especially if you lose DJI drones.....which apparently everyone I know that flies them over water or land has....

    • @TheFosterJourney

      *Speak of the devil. Our Mavic Mini just had a brain of its own yesterday. No wind. 15 seconds after takeoff...it took it. 50 yards away and straight into the water!! LOL I think the cheap drones might be the way to go.
