I for one, definitely don’t want to “farm” a 45 minute puzzle mission for a random rolled class item. 🤷♂️ I don’t mind it requiring another person, as I have friends to do it with, but it just seems like a hassle.
I do it in 24 minutes with lfg consistently
I agree mission is way too much going on and too much for a RANDOM roll it’s takes the destiny grind to a whole another level like almost of the player base don’t have time nor want to spend all that time farming a random roll at least with raid exotic you will get THAT weapon that u want after farming
u just need to unlock it once then it has a rare chance of dropping from any chests in Pale Heart. So it is up to you on whether u wanna repetitively run the quest or pray for a drop from chest
They should change it to be:
1: masterworked exotic on exotic quest completion (to actually give a reason to "farm" this quest)
2: overthrow dropping the class items like the sword (unmasterworked)
3: have the quest be solo-able with prismatic even if it takes over an hour.
Idk why this is one of the only secret quests that can't be played solo. Every other quest can be done solo or literally no communication.
It needs at least to be more rewarding in exploration. Needs more....cowbell.
So my take with all this is that this the only exotic armor thats locked behind a mission, which okay thats fine, but when the FS was being advertised, and they tell us an exotic class item is coming, I can bet you 99.9% of us DID NOT expect it to only be aqquired in the weirdest way possible with D2s 1st 2 man only activity.
Like, why TF is something as revolutionary as a 2 perk exotic class item, only aqquirable in this way? TBH i really expected this item to just drop after the legendary campaign or maybe Excision wouldve made alot of sense, but this, this needs to be changed. Too many people play this game solo(more than 50%) and Bungie knew this; this is not how you make people play together if that was their goal, this is how you piss off a huge part of your community, agian...
Agreed! And I DONT WANT to play with other people. I’m an actor and I’m constantly engaging with people as my job. I want to be alone and kill stuff and earn cool loot. Forcing me to be chummy with a stranger is anger inducing.

As a solo player this this why I haven’t done it i don’t even have a clan yet alone a fireteam/ teammate
not being in a clan in Destiny is just making your life harder bruh
@@ian-1the clan system in this game has and still is a waste of time. Most clans have a few groups of hardcore people who play together and then it’s 50+ people who haven’t logged on in weeks. I’m sure they have some kick ass clans out there but ever since my regular crew bailed after Lightfall the clans I’ve tried to join have been complete wastes of time.
You’re now more rewarded than ever to join and play with your clan.

Im a solo player and was looking forward to farming this but sadly I won't be able to because I lack the means to communicate with others on LFG because of limited play time at night and needing to stay quiet. (I have an almost 3 year old and a 2 week old baby) I'll be good without the class item, but it's annoying nonetheless.
Just so you know you only need to power through a run once. after you unlocked it it has a chance to drop at random from chests in the pale heart.
Just do it once and farm chest. 15-20 pale heart chest to get, takes about 20 minutes per run
I heard people can use the text chat to communicate, idk if thas enough bu yea, I'm sorry this is causing you difficulty tho...I've been a solo player for years an so it was sad to see exclusively solo only solo players or those wi certain issues like family or motoral issues get screwed over it really is sad....I hope you do get it some way eventually im sorry about it being this way tho...

The class item should be a base (needed) game-saving item. The grind wall should be for something like a weapon.
They really hyped up these class items in the dev streams and emphasized how farmable they would be, so to find out that they aren't very accessible (or a downright pain to obtain) is a let down. I do love the spirit of the mission but... idk, put something else at the end of it that ain't so necessary, like a secret exotic weapon, or something that wasn't directly used to sell copies of the game.
Making one of your selling points of Final Shape like this is wild. 😂

There is a lot about TFS that is good, but that mission and the deceptive way Bungie promoted the exotic class item taints all of it so much I don't even care to log on.

All the players in here saying use LFG and not offering your assitance to those solo players and flaming them for not using LFG is exactly why they don't use LFG.

I think the issue is how it was advertised, every exotic mission doesn’t have matchmaking, zero hour, whisper, etc.. but we all thought it was going to be from some public activity that we could all farm, excision would it had been perfect👍
Hell beating the Legendary Campaign would have made more sense for our first class exotic item. But Bungie doesn't have a brain between any employee.
While i myself am not a solo player i do feel like they marketed the exotic class items heavily and it honestly should be maybe a reward for unlocking prismatic fully, the 2 guardian limit is dumb AF tho it should be soloable but regardless it certainly shouldnt be 2 ppl instead of 3
I wish it was at least like whisper and zero hour exotic quests. Reasonable, solo-able and communication not required. Would've been such a simple thing that would've made everyone happy

The timer is my issue, the mission is fine but I’ve always hated timed missions in Destiny and this is no different.

@@thonorderud the timer is a non issue. as long as you know what to do u can easily reach the final boss with nearly 30 minutes on the timer and clear perfectly fine. the issue is that the mission is the only way to properly farm for the class item so to get 1 roll it takes 30 minutes.

@@shpawn5323your given 15 minutes in the last boss, each encounter starts on a timer once complete it resets with another timer starting. You can’t get 30 mins on boss only the cap 15 ?
And even with 15 minutes on final room it’s easy, I’ve helped multiple people so far, the call-outs for peoples different symbols make me laugh.
It's amazing how this company keeps fumbling over on itself and why it keeps losing money. I guess Sony has a point. 🙄

That's the reason why zero Hours is the best exotic mission because it's possible to do it solo and in team and the puzzles are not crazy

Either way, exotic missions were always solo-able. Why do this for the class items specifically? Why not the heavy trace rifle? Why not the sword?

They give you a very generous amount of time when going through it so I think texting wouldn’t be that difficult

To make the time issue worse, the final mechanic was a huge middle finger by being a clock puzzle that rotates every 4 seconds, both guardians call out which 4 numbers they see on their and then shoot the one number that's the same, it take about 4 seconds to count and call out the numbers then shoot it. Which needs to be done 3 times.

Why couldn’t they make it in a way that if you’re solo the exotic you get is left to rng but if you do it with another player you get to choose from a specific perk pool to give your exotic that 1up considering you did the mission how they visioned it.
I mean, there’s a reason you get rewarded more for doing Legend and Master Lost Sectors Solo.

My biggest issue with the exotic class item quest is the type of difficulty. I don’t think it’s cool to lock the exotics class items behind a puzzle like quest and not a challenging combative experience. Especially with how they were marketed like we would receive them during or post campaign in a more accessible way. It was honestly very boring imo because the ad density was lacklustre compared to the rest of the sandbox and it didn’t feel rewarding it was just kinda an annoying experience that could have been a lot better imo
Also I hope they add new ways to earn the class items after you’ve completed the mission once because I do not want to farm this type of experience at ALL 😅

to each their own. my buddy and i were doing the mission about 15 power under along with doing the puzzles completely blind, but we managed to figure everything out by ourselves. it was extremely satisfying once everything clicked together

You gotta kick 3 people when not doing raids. You can't expect everything to be locked to 1 fireteam configuration. For the longest time people complain they do the same thing over and over and when they do something new, people get mad. This is like the while argument with freelance trials.
Oh no you have to spent 30 minutes (maybe 60 if you do it twice so all 3 of you get it) not playing with someone before you can do everything else in the game with them

They'll have to address it in some way, especially if the playerbase drops off soon - which it will regardless.

Bungie should just put the exotic class items into something that a solo player can get them in. It can be something very hard obviously (GM's,). This mission however, is not how you make essential exotic armor (that you sold the game on) available in game.
Backlash reasons:
1) Bungie never specified that their over-marketed exotic class item would be obtained from an exotic mission
2) They unnecessarily placed a timer on an awesome mission
3) It is an absolute waste of time and effort to make players go through a mission like this for a single drop of a random rolled item per completion

Nothing in Destiny 2 is inaccessible. YOU make it inaccessible for yourself. There are plenty of resources and LFG sources to use, and it's YOUR choice to not do these activities and earn the rewards.

I was so exited for exotic class items but fireteam finder has become terrible so I don't want to do that and none of my friends have 50$ to spend to buy final shape so I can't get the exotic class items and it really sucks

After the release of Pantheon and the LFG experience becoming a toxic wasteland, I for one can tell you if an activity requires the use of LFG to complete (because maybe you have no friends to play with) I will not be doing said activity…ever.
I was doing it wirh lfg no prob, watch a guide , make sure other person sees guide, have mic, done….

Clearly a lot of hard work went into creating this and this is not what any of us expected for a farmable exotic and a flagship for the selling of this DLC (besides the story), however, a compromise that Bungie could do to settle the fan base and one I'm not sure how to even bring up to them is to remove the timer of the mission and checkpoints. I'm not sure if it has checkpoints since I ran out of time and my team didn't die, but non the less the idea of restarting a 2 man Raid all because of a simple mistake is ridiculous.
Bungie should have given the exotic class item as a reward for the 12 man activity

The goal was a new saga after the conclusion of the Light vs Dark saga.

@@celphalonred1999more recently they’ve been commenting about something happening after Destiny 2. Nothing saying d3 specifically. But it’s possible Sony made them change their minds.
I am very interested in that mission, but my partner only played the final shape to have seen the end of destiny 2 the light and dark saga and directly uninstalled it. So now i am stuck solo and on console which makes this even harder. In future i am sure i will get to play this mission and i cant wait for it.
But until then id liked to have the exotics, because i have a funny gunpowder gambit build in my head that i want to try, but i need that exotic, so i am stuck between a hard place T_T
I dont believe everything needs to be a solo mission, but i do think that if you advertise something as the new big thing, you should make at least this available for all.
People defending this are either clueless or just down right blind. They try to come up with anything that makes their position sound but they end up sounding like a bunch of "gitgud" immature elitist brats. "Just do LFG, skill issue, its an MMO . . ." OK, screw the 1st 2, since when has Destiny been an MMO? Have you ever played an MMO? This game has no set rolls & all players can do everything on every class. That's just how toxic this community is. As soon as Bungie does something that alienates a LARGE group of players, it's immediately the players fault. You babies need to wake the hell up.

I've seen a lot of comments like that both on this platform and on the forums. Some even saying don't play a multiplayer game. These people are one of the reasons why some refuse to LFG. As much of a bandaid fix as it is, one of these should drop each week from Excision. The mission will always grant you one on each completed run but being able to pick one up weekly next to the low drop rate from chests may alleviate things. As great as Final Shape has been, this definitely dented things for a large percentage of the playerbase.

First time i did it i was watching a video on the clocks. The guy was doing it backwards. Like 1 is where 11 was. I was up for like 24 hours too. The next day i lfgd and didn't even think about just doing the clock normally. Lmao. Me and the dude were laughing about it the next day because we friended each other. I was surprised i was functional to do it backwards and we still got it the first time. We both are solo players and only turned on mics for call-outs which was chill.
bungie need to think that solo players love to play SOLO!
And solo players need to realize this has always been a MULTIPLAYER game and has SOCIAL spaces.

All I heard is that I had to do overthrow in each location. But it's annoying that I have to lfg the other 2 zones that aren't matchmaking if you want them to not take 30 minutes to do. After doing this I then learned I had to kill a wizard. Doing all three overthrows all over again..

I don't want to do this either guys but once u get the mission done every 20-25 chest in the paleheart drop them so that would be the best farm
Totally agree on the point of farming that is very Grindy and kinda unejoyable especially if your playing lfg every time but I got lucky and have to say just as an exotic mission it’s got to be one of the best in destiny ever 🤷♂️

It's not that the mission is bad it's the fact they the locked the exotic class items behind it and is was advertised as the most important thing for prismatic builds so now solo players like me who have tried running it with lfg and having a horrible experience are screwed just cuz lfg is in the game doesn't mean it suddenly good now
The mission looks really fun and I hope to play it if I can find someone chill to run it with. I love when they add stuff like this but I can see how it can be annoying for solo players. Especially since it’s the only way to get the exotic class item. My main thing is they should allow a player who has unlocked the mission to invite another player who hasn’t unlocked it. I have some people I can play with but they hate doing the stupid, grindy, nonsensical stuff to unlock the mission in the first place.
Me and a friend I've been playing Destiny with since 2013 run this mission in just over 20 minutes each time. It's a really fun mission and the mechanics aren't even hard.
I’m a mom and a solo player. To sit with another person is at times impossible. I really don’t have a set to play which makes it very hard to play. The kids pull me in all directions. I would hate to have someone wait on me specially on a timed event.
At what level can you comfortably do the quest? I'm so confused by the new tooltip, it only shows level cap, not recommended level.
It's 1995 cap so anything over 1995 power is useless since you're already doing max damage. I wouldn't go in with a character lower than 1990 to not make it too frustrating.

It would be so easy to make this a solo mission you kill the dark knight you get the dark buff dunk it you kill light knight get light buff dunk it
That’s extremely boring and just rinse/repeating mechanics from the campaign and many other encounters in the game. I commend Bungie for actually making this an interesting and engaging experience, even as a mostly solo player myself.

Aside from that, mostly solo means exactly what it implies, I prefer to run stuff solo until there’s a situation where I can’t, like this very quest for example. Would I prefer to solo it? Sure, am I gonna cry because I have to talk to someone for 40 minutes? Absolutely not.
I hate playing solo but I have friends I have been bouncing around from clan to clan trying to find people to play with and no one ever as time to help me because they are busy helping their friends yeah my experience the last 10 years
It’s just wild to me how much the story is about love and importance of your Fireteam and your Ghost. And yet the campaign actively discourages you from running it with a fireteam, because of the fading light mechanic and the dmg scaling. 2 is the max you should run it with. Then this mission to lock the exotic class items out behind a 2 man mission instead of a fireteam. The mission should have been 3 people, matchmade just like the new Enigma speedrun activity. I ran that with 3 diff sets of randoms and got 3 completions and 1 reset. Master Nightfalls should have matchmaking too while we’re at it. All these activities are designed with RUclipsrs in mind anyway, so, it’s not like people aren’t going to figure out the mechanics.
For solo players and casual players, such as my self, I feel like all the devs would have to do is just make different tiers for this exotic class item mission so everyone can farm it. Like bottom tier Rare drop rate, next tier, Uncommon drop rate and then highest tier Common drop. That seems like an obvious choice to me idk. Side note, I also don't really like puzzles/mechanic which I felt this expansion (which is a huge W for me as well) was really heavy in and even just watching a walk through of this class exotic missions burns me out and makes me not even want to do it lol

I thought that once you get the class exotic, you can choose which exotic armor that is allowed to combine or absorb into your class exotic to do a experiment for many different build but it’s instead is RNG, just loses all the fun of it.

Lfgs main problem and fireteam finders main problem is many olayers unwillingness to turn on their mic. Not even this mission but gms i will use firetram finder and if people would simply communicate.

Ps5 has a mic built in u can use, i dont use xbox so idk if xbox has a similar detail or not, computers and general players most ppl have headset, old iphone earbuds work (yea the ones from the 1st i phone with the plastic ear inserts work) turtle beach makes 20-30$ headsets ive been usung for 2 years.
Ive always had teouble using lfgs just for the fact that ppl dont communicate even without a mic and expect everything to go smooth, and then when im the last guardian standing and camt get a revive i will sometimes recieve messages like "Bro?!!" Or "go play public events" or the classic "noob".
Yes it would be nice if they let a solo playerjust do all the mechanics and just have to reaquire each buff. I got to run it twice with another and nownive done the chest farming to get what i needed.
Andnif anyone who cant find oll to run it need someone ask and i will be happy to get on and help almost anytime i can be around.
Some players are gonna have to miss out on these exotic class items sadly, because of the way the mission was made there is no way they could make it soloable, unless they changed a couple things.
Took a couple days and finally got one, that is not worth the pain. farming this mission for more is not worth the hassle. Other sources are far better and far less stressful. You’re gonna need to do it over fives times for the roll you want. Plus add in all the runs in to get the callouts right and to get to know the path to the end.
All we have to do is to beat it once and stay determined to beat that hurdle of requiring 2 players and mechanics. Eventually you will beat it in the end.

I’m to the point with a lot of these Bungie missions that I just want them to give the option of pay to play. I’m not gonna play this kind of raid experience with another person on mic so let the people that want to have the option to do it for free do it with another person. I have to play when I have time and I also have hearing issues. Just let me buy the exotic item if I want to if they aren’t gonna make it more solo-friendly. I got through the campaign ok but it’s very apparent that they are headed more and more towards raid mechanics in every activity. Maybe it’s fun for most people but I just find it annoying. The campaign in particular is just something I feel obligated to do in order to unlock the activities I want to actually do. These exotic missions are just gonna be impossible for somebody like me. Just the way it will have to be.

As they should, it’s their game. Also, it’s an mmo. If you are playing an mmo and chose not to engage with the multiplayer you are missing out on the entire experience of the game.

I'm assuming the gameplay is a blind run, but if you do this smart, you can definitely get it done in 25 minutes easily. Don't get me wrong, i hate this quest and despise the unnecessary longevity of it but i personally don't mind having the first duo mission have this reward (especially if you do the cheese).

Me and one of my clan mates I don’t play with too much did it. We went in full blind and it took it 1 1/2 hours was one of the best experiences I had cause apart from raids I didn’t know anything about him. But we grew pretty close and had a good time. Ofc with a random it’ll be different but maybe you meet someone who you can play with even if it’s once a week you have gained a fellow guardian to play with
I don't mind the puzzles or timed mission. I think it should be available for solos. I don't like that it's not available for a full fireteam though. I get the name is "Dual" but to be playing with 3 people and doing everything up to the mission with 3 and then having to have 1 person leave is just stupid. Bungo makes some amazing missions. But sometimes their thought processes are just wild.

Getting rid of the timer would give people who can’t use the mic time to type it out and remove a lot of stress and anxiety for tons of people.

Im honestly mostly concerned about the 1 in 64 chances to get the roll you want, and of the 20 i farmed today 6 being duplicates and not seeing some of the perk options whatsoever (synthos, caliban, liars). Thr game loves to give me dragons shadow and coyote like I'm some pvp schlub
I mean, you only HAVE to do it a couple times, and honestly the mission itself, while being somewhat intimidating, isn’t very hard in practice. The hardest part at the end is ya a little hard if you don’t have a mic, but there’s a lot of time given to you to where you can mess up and take time on it. I didn’t feel like I was on a time crunch at all. I didn’t even know the vow mechanics that well and I was able to just communicate my way through it. Try not to get discouraged because you can find someone to do this with. Honestly, great experience with someone who’s willing to try to communicate and learn but honestly it’s not as bad as it seems, and afterwards the items are farmable. I suggest giving it a try with somebody, anybody.
Once I found out it required a second player, I just accepted that I'll probably never the new class item.
Still the best exotic mission in the game now.
guys you can farm the exotics at random chests in the pale heart, you need to do the mission once with each class and that'

If they wanted to lock exotic class item's behind a multiplayer activity they should have said so up front it was one of the reasons I brought this expansion feels like we were purposely lied to so they could get our money
If this activity gave us 4-5 class items I would farm it. But 35 to 45mins for 1 cloak miss me with that. And I don’t want to chest farm 20-25 chests either
If it takes you that long to do the mission then you have more problems than this.

The other issue that is being less talked about is the requirement for a mic (Because it's difficult to message fast on console), that causes an outside money problem. I personally can't do it until payday and can get a new mic.
how is that any different from a raid? those have exotics as well and need a mic/typing
Because this isn't a raid exotic and none of the raid exotica have been armor because the ring of getting the exotic added with the Rng of getting the roll you want would be insane for raids. Also raids have a set amout of times a weak you can play them for a drop chance with the raid exotic. This is supposed to be part of the new subclass. Not a fucking raid like experience. That's not fun all these mechanics are tedious on repeat playthroughs

Cuz it wasn’t Lightfall. Lol the expectations were low. Luckily prismatic is fun and the story was pretty solid. But yeah, nothing really impactful for me at least. Lightfall killed all the hype I had
You can skip the enemies in the beginning. Just run past them all and hit those 2 plates. Saves a bunch of time

As I solo player I'm quite frustrated that you have to find a another player tho saying that I'm not that worried about it since I have used lfg in the past for certain activities like raids and exotic missions.
And people defends this.
My biggest problem is the clock at the final boss.
I have a.d.d and auditory processing disorder, it might not seem like a lot but things like that super fast miving clock REALLY messes me up, its extremely stressful. I beat the quest with a friend but I'd be ok with the mission if

Making it open to 3 people will defeat the idea of the mission itself ( dual destiny) and would make the mechanic wonky, would that mean 2 people does the mechanic and one is carried? Or 2 mechanic, one demob ? Or rework the whole mechanic so that we have ligh, dark and a third buff ? That would be pointless and impossible in the actual design of the mission. I understand why they made it that way, it s supposed to be the light and darkness working together as a team.
And for 1 player, sadly, it wasn't though for them sadly. One person can't represent both light and dark at the same time. ( Except giving the 2 buff to one player even if that would be fun, narratively speaking it would fall flat)
Matchmaking would be difficult because of the quantity of com needed to make it work out. And frankly it wouldn't be fun to play it with people you found in matchmaking, you can stumble on some colourful people or some that don't understand what need to be done.
Frankly the timer is more than fine when you understand how it work. I agree for those that have implement and need accessibility, yes something would be needed.
I personally like to run it with my friends, it s fun. I agree it s not the usual design for bungie. I found that refreshing and at least they are trying things out
In broad line, you wish for the to rework everything that make this mission what it is. I can understand why yet I disagree, the philosophy behind it need it to work as it does.
Let’s be clear it’s not just playing solo it’s the fact that the mission is timed and in order to clear the mission successfully rapid clear communication needs to be in place and I’m sorry that’s not using that in game text to chat feature basically both players need a mic and sometimes players don’t have a mic sometimes players are playing at different times in the world just because you play in the USA doesn’t mean you might get paired with a player using LFG in another time zone some PS5 players should have a mic built into there controller but maybe you get paired with someone on XBox either way there are a multitude reasons why players don’t play with a mic and because of that they are especially locked out of content that they technically paid for this is super frustrating to say the lest
