I've owned the OG's, 2 and Pro. The OG's and 2's were virtually identical but maybe a slight upgrade on the bluetooth range. Although they didn't have a seal, I loved how they just sat in my ears and didn't cause problems. Never fell out....even during Ultras. My 1's died after a while because the copper inside the charging pod oxidized and the contact had issues charging them. The 2's did the same after a while. Got really lucky with a heavily discounted pair of pro's...$90. Ha....brother had a corporate discount. Love them....however, strangely have had them start to slip out on very sweaty days. Great review!
Got mine as a Christmas gift yesterday. Compare with my sony’s with noise canceling, the 3’s are better. Better sound quality, lighter and more comfortable. Doesn’t feel as secure as the ones with silicone tips but way comfortable as you don’t have to put them further in. With the ones with silicone tips, I feel them all the time but with the 3s, I don’t really feel them on. Much comfortable. I prefer not having anc whether out running or inside the house. Like to hear the kids when they need something. And to hear vehicles and bicycle bells while outside. First time having airpods and I am really impressed. Only downside for me is the lack of volume adjustment. Yes, you can do it through siri but it’s not as good. You can start/stop on both sides. Don’t understand why they didn’t do start/stop on one side and volume on the other. Otherwise, im very satisfied. Thanks for the great video.
Good review. I prefer the AirPods Pro, for all the reasons you sighted. Wind noise is a big one. The Pros with noise cancellation on do a good job of blocking out wind noise. Wearing a cap that covers the mic ports does an even better job. But running biking in the summer, who’s going to wear a cap. I also have Bose QuietComfort earbuds. Sound wise, Apple doesn’t have a chance going head to head with Bose. The Pros have good quality sound, that is better suited for acoustic listening and spoken word. But for full on music the Bose has better bass and treble. With crisp clean sound a full tight bass. For workouts though, I prefer the Pros. Especially in windy environments. The Bose, even with noise cancellation on, just doesn’t cut it. The wind blowing over the mic grills is crazy loud. Also, the Pros, if you have an Apple devices works hands free with “Hey Siri” I can change volume, mute, accept, make phone calls, switch listening modes, switch from active noise cancellation to turning it completely off and fast forward or reverse songs, switch to different songs and or albums or play lists all without using my hands, just say, “Hey Siri, turn up volume 10%” or “Hey Siri play (say the artist name, album title or song title)” for example and it happens. For that reason alone, if you have Apple products, the Pros are a must for your workouts.
so, the mic I use for my regular videos is a deity shotgun mic. I love it. it gives me no problems I bought a Shure mic to use for podcasts and interviews. sometimes, I plug it directly into the laptop. generally, I'm very happy with the sound. other times, like if I need multiple mics, I plug it into a sound recorder and then it goes into the laptop. that's when things get confusing for the live stream service that I use. what sounds great and normal to me sounds terrible for you guys. I'm still trying to figure it out.
Great video, as always, Mike! I would say, i have the AirPods 1, ordered the AirPods 3 but will return them to keep the 1s. Definitely from battery and specs perspective the 3s are much better. From a running perspective (and i am your average joe, that’s doing 5k every other day) i have couple of issues. They have removed the double tap and put the double click now. When i wear a beanie and gloves it is more difficult to press to skip a track, go back or pick up a call (i knew that before buying them but in practice it is trickier than I thought). And finally, the fit. I think Mike you mentioned that also. Compared to my 1s, the size of the earbud is larger and feels as it is about to fall off.
Idk man, i had the second gen and just upgraded to the 3 and the fit is better on the gen 3 for me ( neither ever fell out or felt like they were about to) but the 3 gen feels mor comfortable for the and the base is on another level but tbh if the battery was better on the 2 gen I wouldn’t have upgraded
I have been using AirPods 1 & 2 for about 4 years now. Absolutely love them. The first pair did die after two years, but they never fell out and most times I can’t even feel they are in my ears. Unfortunately my ear holes are too small for Pro’s, so I can’t use any in-ear buds.
Just as a side note, I don't know how it is in the States, but running in races with earphones is actually prohibited here, you will get a warning and maybe even a DQ. Frankly in an organized race I agree, even though I always run with music when training.
Airpods 3. My first week with them and I’ve accidentally “dropped” them 3 times aka - they fell out. It happened once while running and I‘m constantly adjusting them so they don’t fall out. I‘m going to need to mod them with some grips or buds.
@@francescodotx Those were great - until I ran into lots and lots of problems with charging and one ear not working. Very frustrating when I want to go for a run but I need to stop to fiddle with the case to get a charge or unpair and repair and reset the device to get any sound. Many people complaining about this. I'm here trying to decide if I should replace them with Airpods or not.
I have pods n pro… love them both… I actually sleep with one pod and can listen to Kofuzi vlogs and soft music while I rest… they both work for running but I prefer the pros as they feel locked in better and I don’t have to adjust them at all… still amazes me that when I wake up the pod 99% of the time hasn’t fallen out of my ear!
Mike, I tried running with Ipod Pros, and I was able to hear "Thud" sounds every time I takes a step. It's like I'm hearing my body muscles bounce up and down, or it could be that the earbuds are bouncing up and down in my ear canal. Would you give me a comparison of his ear bouncing up and down sound while you run?
I had the AirPods 2 and never felt comfortable running in them cuz they always felt loose. They did fall out on a couple of occasions and unfortunately the charging tip did crack.
I’ve dropped my AirPods Pro in the toilet a few times and also run in heavy rain several times. No issues so far. In my country the AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro are almost the same price. I would choose the AirPods Pro for the ANC and transparency any day. 🙂
Im my country the 3 gen is like 30$ more than the pro but I still got them since I can’t have the silicone tips in my ears for more than 1 minute they feel so frustrating to me
Great video as always. I’ve gone through through two pairs of SoundCore earbuds before having them fall apart. Looking to upgrade and will probably go with the AirPods Pro. Thanks!
My runs are only 5 to 6 miles at most. I've owned AirPods 2 now AirPods Pro, the Pros stay in my ear a little better but for running I find JaBra Elite 65t and 75t Active never fall out or even loosen and can withstand torrential rainfall and even being submerged. The only reason I put up with Apples earbuds is because I'm totally in the Apple ecosystem. They make great phones, tablets, and laptops but their wireless earbuds are only ok and are almost necessary if you own numerous Apple devices. I've owned my 65t since shortly after they went on sale same with my 75t both ar e still functioning the same as when they were new. The left speaker on my AirPod 2 shorted out a little after a year of use and I had to send my Pro's to Apple for repairs after only a month of use and they still do mysterious things when I go to use them sometimes one bud will have 0 charge even though they have been in the case, and other mysterious issues
I have both the 2’s and pros. I prefer the fit of the 2’s, don’t really like the pros ear tips but like the features. Not sure if i want to buy a 3rd pair but i would sacrifice features if the 3’s fit better than both previous versions….decisions
Feel like the AirPods Pro will forever be my gotos. Unless it's a race. Then my Aftershokz. Just wishing for a better IP rating for the Pro 2. Just had to pay 93€ for a replacement AirPod Pro, after one got drenched on a run 😔

I've never heard so many mixed reviews with Airpods 3 and Airpods Pro and I've seen many. This makes me think that it's ok if you sweat on your Pro.
No Airpods fit well enough for running in my case. They've all been crap for me. I much prefer anything with loops (even if they're cheap) that don't fall out into a storm sewer, or hurt after 30 minutes.
Quick summary of everything: Buy Apple Beats by Dre Fit Pro, better than both in every single aspect, sound quality, battery life, fitting and everything else!
Tapping on older AirPods when running is so much easier than trying to squeeze stems. So, I will use AirPods 3 at home, but use older AirPods for running.
I don't know who was the idiot in Apple who thought squeezing the stem could be better than double tapping, but he really needs to be fired asap. What a moronic idea, it's just so awkard to have to squeeze.

It amazes me that the Pros are two years old and holding up well. Last year Black Friday, it went on sale for $160 at Costco.
I agree. Still quite good. But I’m wondering if there will be an update soon 🤷🏻♂️

As a Jabra elite 85t user and iPhone/iPad/M1 MacBook Pro/Apple Watch owner, I challenge the presumption that one therefore must have AirPods.
If you have been submerged in water during you run, clearly you have bigger concerns than getting your AirPods wet.
