I really appreciate seeing the difficulties in fitting you have to overcome for each project. Most of us are not a perfect shape for any style, even considering modern fashion's extra ease. Thank you for letting us watch while you figure it out!
Washing wool before sewing it would also help minimize the risk of it shrinking/felting if it got wet afterwards, I think. (With non-superwash wool yarn, one either needs to be VERY careful to handwash in cool water & dry flat, or intentionally super-size the knit/crochet item, assuming that it will shrink & felt when washed.)
This is so fitting, because right after you released this video, another channel I subscribe to released a Titanic based video 😮! You were right after each other on my new video list 😂. Dan Vasc released his cover "Metal guys play My heart will go on." So amusing they came out at the same time! His version was good, but I love ❤ Postmodern Jukebox's Motown version of the song best! I'm having a Titanic based day! The coat looks promising 🎉.
This is going to be lovely. I might have missed if you mentioned if washing the wool a second time got rid of the discoloration on those pieces? Looking forward to the rest of the project ❤
Hear me out... the French knots become black beads and the middle portion of the large flower like motif have oval shaped back beads in a circle at the middle of the motif.
When they made this coat for this costume for Kate Winslet they deliberately made it bigger than it was supposed to be to give her a youthful child like innocence I guess you would say. Pretty sure they described it better than I am now but the coat was designed to be very loose fitting.
Oh my gosh, this coat is going to be gorgeous! I am a nut for pink. After the entire coat is done, would having it dry-cleaned take out the stripe? If not, I don't think anyone will notice.
It's such a beautiful coat, it's a shame the wool has marks in it. ( I'd can that & buy new wool but that's me.) I didn't see the streaks on the actual coat though.

I agree! Watching Rebecca’s videos has definitely helped me work through fit issues in my own projects.
"making sure not to catch any toe beans in your seams" - love how seriously you delivered this tip!
Dora is just such a great help 😂 keeping that pesky fabric under control.
A lesson painfully learned over many many years. Always assume your edges will fray and act accordingly.
If you check. Your duster pattern, you may be able to adjust the front to your desires. If the collar is a separate piece.
Perhaps you could connect with Sewstine - she does a lot of embroidery digitizing.
So does The Closet Historian, either of them might be able to help.
I totally forgot about this coat. I'm so glad you remembered it!!
Your teal headband and the mock up color remind me of the statue of liberty. I love this coat!
I have been waiting for this forever! I’m so glad you finally chose to do it!
This coat is going to be beautiful on you,i love the colour❤
Sponge with dry cleaners fluid. Washing again may cause additional shrinkage.😊
It wound up washing out fine, luckily. But I was very judicial with my cutting on the sleeves and final collar piece because of the dirt line!
I love the shape of the coat, its going to be beautiful when its done. Can't wait to see the finished coat. Love the colour.
Such a thoughtful person to send this fabric!
Very! So thankful!
#2 yeah Lifthe shoulder, armscye is ok for a coat. You do know your body type well.
I love it. I think you are right on, about the hip line flare. Use a poly lining. JOANN'S IS PERFECT FOR THIS.
Thanks! And yeah, it was definitely more flattering with a little flare.

I put pockets into my 12thC style gowns the same way.
Can’t wait to see more!!
Aren't those flat felled seams on the coat? Like you see on jeans? Just wondering. Love the color! Can't wait to see the finished coat!!
Nope, they're separate strips!
Great pattern to use for this coat. Looking forward to see the outcome of this cosplay.
I love watching you make things!
It will be glorious. I can’t wait to watch more!
That wool is gorgeous!
1:47 I thought it was soutache as well!
💜💜💜
Looking great!

It did!
I don’t wear wool as I’m allergic but I have sewn with it. Always prewashed.
Yay, I've been waiting for this project! Go Rebecca!
Dora the explorer cat! ;)
Hello Dora
I remember renting the 2 VHS 3 hour and 14 minute special edition set from Blockbuster.
Even the regular set was two VHS tapes!

I always wash my wool too.

The decoration on coat could be sutache as well

They came out in the wash!
@@LadyRebeccaFashions Thank goodness!
Are those top stitched strips of fabric or stitched down pleads?
Top stitched strips of fabric
Dora needs a second channel at this point 😺

On my little screen, the "embroidery" looks like puff paint.🤔
hand for pets ONLY 🤣
