I too grew up on the PS1 era, but I rather get late 1990's PC graphics style over this (like the 3dfx Voodoo, u name it) . Not a fan of those wobbly polygons.

It looks like a lot of this took inspiration from the Driver series, particularly the manner in which CJ jacking the car is shot is the same as the one from Driver 2. Great work.

the "pirated" version in my country had a san andreas cover, but when u try to play it the disc will play GTA 1 or GTA 2🤣

The only huge giveaways would be the audio quality/sheer amount of audio (small discs couldn't be loaded with the audio files GTA SA has) and the animations being too smooth/good

I never had PS1, PS3, PC, etc for gaming. But at least, i still have my legendary gaming platform PS2 and PSP now for more than 8 years.
In PS2 i often to play GTA SA & NFS MW when my phone run out of batteries. While in PSP, i often play GTA VCS/LCS/CTW, Tekken, Crash Tag Team Racing/Crash of Titans

That is seriously impressive You should make the full PS1 version I will seriously buy it I miss when PS1 games were so damn good😢 there were some PS1 games that had surprisingly good animation graphics Plus I used the PS2 dual shock controller into the PS1 some games actually recognize the thumb sticks But you had to change the flight mode into DFU mode 😍 But every nowadays I fucking hate the way Some games are being made some publishers only care about profit and not Actually make a decent AAA game 😢
