In all seriousness, once the Europeans LEARNED about the Mayan calendar, they came up with people like "Galileo", who challenged the Catholic church and proved the Earth is not the center of the universe (meaning, everything revolved around the Earth).
I remember telling people all they did was stop adding to the calendar and they decided to halt it at the shortest day of the year. They have no idea if/when anything would end or change.
