TripReport: Lufthansa (Economy) | Frankfurt - New York JFK | Boeing 747-400

At long last, I finally managed to get onboard my favourite aircraft of all time! The Boeing 747! Now, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, many airlines decided to retire their fleet of 747s, & luckily the German national carrier, Lufthansa, decided to keep their fleet of 747s, despite retiring a few of them. With Lufthansa keeping only 8 of their Boeing 747-400s, getting on one was proving to be harder, but luckily, I found that Lufthansa were operating the 747-400 on their daily LH400/401 service between Frankfurt & New York John F. Kennedy International Airport throughout March 2023, so I decided to book a holiday to New York City as it was on my list of places to visit, as well as get onboard the Boeing 747-400! This flight is definitely one that I will never forget! It was truly a memorable experience! Not only did I get to fly onboard the 747-400, which is proving to be quite difficult for a lot of people, but I also managed to have a visit to the flight deck when we landed in New York & I ended up chatting to the pilots about my trip! The cabin crew were also thrilled for me when I chatted to them throughout the flight & when I told them about how I took this trip for the sake of getting on Lufthansa’s 747-400s!

Yeah there definitely was a lot of time but I can’t complain cause I enjoyed every bit of making this video, even if the voice over took almost an hour to film cause of a lot of grammatical errors lol. @@ojaaviation while Rossiya still have some 747-400s, they are all stored and don’t seem to be flying passengers anytime soon, so they aren’t really an option (just now at least), and when it comes to Atlas Airs passenger 747-400s, it costs approximately $31,000 per hour just to lease them for private flights & of course you gotta pay for fuel, airport facilities & everything else. So I don’t think either Rossiya or Atlas Air are really options, unless any 747 lover happens to be a millionaire.

Fantastic video Samuel! You really have a great talent for flight reviews and your channel is one of the best i've seen on youtube. One minor technical thing I want to mention is the part you refer to as the "cockpit" is actually known as the "flight deck", a cockpit refers to what you would find in a fighter jet hehe. Keep up the good work:)

Glad you enjoyed the video! Cockpit & flight deck are basically the same thing & almost everyone uses that word in their flight reviews. Even pilots & cabin crew members use the term “cockpit”
