I'll just say this -> he has more oscars than Leonardo Dicaprio ( I thought he would never get one ). Mahershala is a great actor and all and you could say he deserves it but there are so many actors out there that do such an amazing performance in so many movies and get absotely ignored. In this example Vigo Morgenstern being one of them, he has no oscars and he played such amazing roles in the past. However the Oscars get decided I disagree with them quite many times but I guess we each have our own opinion.

i've watched this on netflix 4x so far and each time i cry in that rain scene. very painful yet powerful scene. one could feel his soul and all the emotions being expressed. amazing scrip, too.

I have watched this movie countless times and camaraderie between Ali and Viggo is off the charts. But Viggo also deserves a nomination atleast his character arc from start to end of the movie is phenomenal.
He's in the leading actor category
He was so clear eloquent, and gentle... this man is a legend
His voice is so soothing when he talks, amazing actor I’m so happy for him
When they killed off his character in Luke Cage i was mad, now he is Blade, dude will kill it
....they shouldn't have killed off his character on Luke Cage . He was the ultimate nemesis in terms of intelligence....
In my opinion the show Luke Cage started its descent, after his character was killed off, 2/3 of the way through the first season. His character Cottonmouth had so much more to offer.
He only did the role because the character was killed off early. He didn't want to do another full season of a TV show since he had just left another series. Plus he was working on Moonlight and Hidden Figures at the same time so....three great performances in 1 year. Count your blessings.
This man is a phenomenal actor. Well deserved.

So, I know I’m not the only one to figure out that both Moonlight and Green Book won 3 awards in nearly identical categories; Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali) and Best Screenplay (Original for Green Book, Adapted for Moonlight).
Kind of like “12 Years a Slave,” too. Picture, Supporting Actress, Adapted Screenplay.

I like how Mahershala played it cool and approached his win with a calm collected attitude. Wish Michael B. Jordan was recongnized for Black Panther.
Jordan is an action/superhero actor. Those kind of movies need a different and lower level of acting. The Oscars award serious actors who play in serious movies. Jordan is good but he's yet from being a top actor. He still has to jump from easy movies to real movies, as Mcgounaghey and many others did to be taken seriously.
