I don't know pokemon, but I feel like julia nailed this. If the other hosts had remembered it was names taken literally i think they would have performed better 😂
I dunno about that? I tried to keep in mind only the names, and although I did slightly better than them, some were /very/ difficult. If you know pokemon even a little bit, it's hard to remove the way the names are supposed to be pronounced (like Elekid and Skarmory) to how Julia interpreted it so she could make an image representation. Even if drawfee did this again, we'd probably get similar results I think! With there being over a 1000 pokemon, remembering pokemon's names (and images) is hard enough as is without thinking of breaking down every name into pieces or mispronouncing it to conjure another word.... Like Skarmory was impossible for me, I never would have connected it that way (plus Ska's hype was before my time so I had no idea what those objects meant together- I thought it was a hipster or neckbeard stereotype reference at first). I was convinced the whole time that it was Corvinite and kept waiting for the corvid clue (it looked like a hoard of shiny things and no details Julia added on changed that idea. I even thought the speech bubble was like a raven repeating words a la Nevermore)!

When Julia said the knight was to “set the scene,” I thought “He’s reacting to something, a dragon maybe… dragon… knight DRAGONITE!” Edit: Of course that isn’t it, that would be way too simple.

@@declanmckenna6854 The French word for flower is "fleur", not flaur. In fact, the French word for flame is "flamme" And because she's never seen the Pokémon before, a flame baby would be my closest guess as well based on the name alone.
@@declanmckenna6854I don't think it's that she didn't parse it, but that she's trying to draw something to make them think of the name, so (especially assuming the other three don't speak french) it makes more sense to draw a flambe, flames, and a baby because the pronunciation is very similar to "flame baby"
Am i crazy for wanting an even more insane version of this video where Julia just draws pokemon based on wherever her mind and associations take her (so it's not based on or tied to their literal names, unless Julia decides to go in that direction)? It would make the challenge 100 times harder but hopefully also funnier.
Yeah...because we all know what Spheal looks like now....
For the Skarmory one, I was so convinced it was Sirfetch’d. He is a Sir (knight) who is Fetching something (from the store).
Yeah I was so confused why they didn't guess all the most obvious knight-associated ones immediately like Sirfetch'd and Corviknight, just to get them out there.
Granted it wouldn't have mattered, but still
I thought it was either sirfetch'd or pignite (pick knight)
At first I thought "um, uh" knight - Omanyte! I also thought El E-Kid was likin' rock.
I was so mad about elekid until she wrote it out. She was absolutely correct.
El-E-Kid is the most galaxy brained shit Julia has ever pulled, and I love her for it. Lmao
Obviously we need more of this! But would love to see Julia just drawing what she thinks the Pokemon looks like based on the name, rather than the full pictionary style.
lmao isn't that what she does every Pokémon episode?
@@civilizedmonkey1795 I mean yeah, but they know beforehand what it is. Can you imagine them staring at her Wigglytuff, or better yet her Monferno or Sealeo, and actually try to parse what has happened?
Another good variation, like telephone: show her a Pokémon, she has to give it a name (bc she won’t guess it). And then someone else has to draw the Pokémon based on that name. Then they have to guess the original pokemon
@@Shelinatorable This would be dope
@@Shelinatorable this needs more upvotes
The only one I legit got before any hints from Julia was Flabebe. It was hilarious how everyone kept saying the words that made up the sounds of its name, but just not connecting them. I would definitely have a Julia version of Flabebe on my team, though! So cute! (and I see them as a 3-step evolution haha!)
Clearly that pokemon Digivolves
Delibird would have been a good one for this. Can totally see her drawing a bird that is working at a deli counter
I love how everyone continues to guess based on if the drawing is similar to how a Pokemon actually looks as if Julia has any idea
Fun fact for Nathan! The beta names for Abra and Kadabra were Hocus and Pocus!
Came to mention that)
Julia really through them for a loop right out of the gate by following the brief perfectly to the letter.
“You flambé a baby, the flamingo is a baby, the baby is a flame and French” -Karina
Jacob drily saying "a worm body, okay" is such a watching-Julia-draw mood
Honestly I would love to see this Pictionary type of episode as a mini-series. For the audience we get to see into the mind of you guys, its entertaining as all your videos are, and I imagine it's a little easier to produce compared to more edited videos. Could even do it on twitch to get the viewers more involved.
Nathan at 19:45: "Watch this NOT be a fire type"
Karina: "If it's not a fire type, I'm gonna loose it!"
Julia: Proceeds to draw a Flabébé
I was screaming internally "Litwick! It's Litwick" & the realisation it was "Flabebe" sucked the soul out of me. I'm going to internally shut up for the rest of the episode.
The second she put the flame on the first baby's head, I knew it. I was so proud of myself. Especially after missing Pikachu and Elekid
@@HeavensOfMetal I too was thinking litwick, though I also thought julia could be doing ducklett after the third, baby duck, plus "le" and "lit" combined
as they said that I was like "nooo it's flabebe don't kill julia"
@@TheNaturalAC I didn't get it until she drew the flamingo XD
Shoutout to the editors putting all the pokemon images on screen as they're said
Them guessing based on appearance, thinking Julia knows ANYTHING about what these pokemon look like, and not guessing by mashing the words of the drawings together is driving me insane omg. That said, I only knew it was flabebe when she put the little hat on it lmao
"Elekid"
"YOU DIDNT THINK TO ADD LIKE SOME ELECTRICITY?"
ITS NOT A GIVEN BASED ON THE NAME 😭
I got it the first time the exact phrase "flame baby" was said. They almost said it fast enought to sound like flabebe
There are 1000 Pokémon. It’s not easy to remember every name lmao, especially when so many Pokémon are so obscure
Plus I think some of it was more that a pokemon that is a sword probably has a name that could be related to an armory
@@Dancingpinata- Skarmory is a reference to a previous Drawfee Pokemon episode, where Julia would not shut the fuck up about ska, and it was wonderful.
Oh yes. This one's for the fans. Julia drawing Pokémon means nothing to a general user, but drawfee viewers already know this is a banger video.
Drawfee is giving us a gift, and I am very grateful ^_^
I really thought Julia’s “El-e-kid” was supposed to be Glameow :’))
I was sure it was gonna be Persian cause it sounds like person
I thought it was purugly 😭
SAME
I was thinking Delphox personally.
I thought shinx because jinx and youtuber and shining stars with the cat ears
Karina seeing a knight: Eevee?
Julia: No
Karina: I tried me best.
Comedy gold this whole episode. Please do more of these.
Everything between Julia drawing berets and them getting what she had drawn three times was EXCELLENT content. Truly a God Tier Drawfee moment
3 minutes in. The commentary on this episode is already a disaster because everyone is just calling out nonsense word associations.
I love it! Keep up the awesome work, Drawfee!
I just started watching the episode a second time cuz I just love it so much! And knowing the names already also gives an interesting kind of fun XD
Consider: combine this with the 30 second challenge and slap a time limit on Julia's drawing
As soon as Julia started Drawing, I completely blanked on Pokémon names. It was as if I was forced into the position she’s in during every other Pokémon draw challenge.
Julia humming the Animal Crossing theme while creating horrors is such a mood
(20:05)
When she turned the flame babies french, I was like, "flabaybay?? That sounds almost real" and turns out yes, yes it is
When Julia said the knight was to “set the scene,” I thought “He’s reacting to something, a dragon maybe… dragon… knight DRAGONITE!”
Edit: Of course that isn’t it, that would be way too simple.
Oh, this is so good. Please more videos of y'all trying to figure out Julia's labyrinthine thought process
honestly I was in a bit of pain when they sent "Flame-ingo... Baby... Wingull?" 😂😂😂
"i should draw them like a pokemon..." then immediately just drawing a dude in a suit killed me lol. i love seeing Julia draw pokemon
I'm proud that I was able to get in Julia's headspace after El E-kid and I got flabebe almost immediately.
12:12 Julia really just out here drawing Catboy Jerma.
I love how they know they know the challenge is the pokemon names not how they look, but they keep naming pokemon that look like the drawing 😂
was gonna comment the same thing lol. julias art is just that powerful
I can't wait for the opposite of this, watching Julia try to guess what Pokemon's names are based on what everyone else draws. But Jacob, Nathan, and Karina can look at as much reference as they want, and Julia still won't get close.
Omg yes
Oooh yes
Have they not done that?
@@StonedtotheBones13 I mean, every Pokemon episode is technically "Julia Tries to Guess the Pokemon", but there's never been an official episode
@@DrPotatoSkins I don't think that's allowed. Julia must not learn Pokemon, for this... This is magnifique
As soon as Julia added the beret at 21:06, I got immediately that it was Flabébé. She did a pretty good job! The fact that there was fire really threw everyone else off.
I love how the first drawing really just sets the tone for the whole rest of the ep. ”WHY ARE THEY CONNECTED?!?!”
This episode was flawless. Yelled at the screen multiple times, loved the entire thing. 10/10
I love how Jacob goes from Digimon name "news-mon" all the way to drag name "Rita Paper" in 3 seconds flat
Omg that’s a great drag name lmaooo
Have you guys every considered doing a coloring book of non-rendered drawings in the merch store? I would love a bunch of the super simple ones like Slow King personally but obviously mix it up and do some more detailed ones, maybe even non-rendered rendered pics so we can recolor them.
I think they did something like that maybe a year or more ago?
Please please make more of this series! I also suggest that it should be called “Who’s that Julia-mon?” cuz Julia is the host + artist and everyone else has to guess (like “Who’s that Pokemon”)
