The show was never the same when Richard Thomas left the show after 5 years since the whole focus of the show was centered on the John Boy character. Bringing in Robert Wightman to take over the role of John Boy was a big mistake on the part of the producers since he could never measure up to Richard Thomas's characterization of John Boy. Then when Michael Learned left the show and with the disappearance of Ellen Corby as Ester Walton for over a season because of her stroke and the death of Will Gear, the dynamics of the show suffered.

I loved Micheal learned as Olivia is loved that Special bond she had with Ralph and the true love they shared with each other. She had a special bond with all her walton kids as well. Each one was loved in a special when it came to mama and daddy ❤
