LIVE STREAM: Hey everyone! I'm working on several live streams covering the full process of how to make and program a skeleton like this one! The first stream will be held on ** Saturday, June 26th 2021 at 3pm ET ** In that stream I will go over the full parts list and answer any questions you may have. All of the streams will be held here on this RUclips channel, so subscribe to stay updated on those. See you there!!! --------------------------------------------------------------- Parts List: www.patreon.com/posts/full-parts-list-52299892 -------------
I randomly came across this trying to learn how to make my own animatronics for this Halloween, and now I know how to do everything from building it to programming their movements/timing/sounds. You should have waaayyy more subscribers, I feel you definitely aren't getting the credit you deserve for all of this work. Keep it up, and I can't wait to see what you build and teach us next!!
This is EVERYTHING I have been looking for. THANK YOU for this, I am so inspired. Your imagination, talent and teaching skills are on point. I cannot wait to follow you on all your future projects! BRAVO!! Wish me luck, I'm starting my skeleton crew right away!
I have yet to find anyone who describes things as good as you do. Although you talk fast and I had to watch like 4 times lol, I feel I need to go shopping and order from your list. Talk soon....and THANK YOU for taking the time to make these videos.
Hello I was wondering if the Helmsman Pro VSA is a replacement to the Brookshire VSA that you talked about in your part 2 Programming and software video? If so can Helmsman pro do everything that Brookshire VSA?
Another great video. I remember going through all this 6 years ago. Great job sharing it with everybody. Another thing I have done is to use an Arduino as a servo controller that works with VSA. Last year I did that and just used USB extenders. Keep up the great work and keep them coming.
Great Video! Thanks! Do you know if lynxmotion-ssc-32u-usb-servo-controller is the only controller that will work with this software? Or have you used/will other servo controllers also work?
Yes, there are other controllers you can use with this software. Some of these are Pololu “Maestro”, Scott Edwards “Mini SSC”, Picobotics “PicoPic”, and SkullTronix “Board of Chucky” among others. The full list is on the bottom of the page here:roborobotics.com/Animatronics/show-control-software/Brookshire-VSA.html along with some good info about the boards here: roborobotics.com/Animatronics/show-control-hardware/Servo-controller.html
Love your videos, does helmsman pro allow you to control lighting as well? I wanted to turn off and on the lights of different scenes of the show. Thanks!!!
Thanks! You can control DMX lights in your VSA routine as long as you have the hardware for them. You would need a controller such as ENTTEC, Velleman, or the RAPU in order to connect them to VSA.
I am new to animatronics. I began a couple years ago, but was talked out of it. I am designing a computer driven version with an old time radio, a skull on top and a raven on to of the skull. I am going to use a Raspberry PI 3B+ to do all of the motions, lighting, and the voices. My goal is to simply add a text file with the text and motions. I write it in any text editor and put it on the computer’s SD disk drive and… I am waiting for some of the parts. It all works I can do all of this from my PC. Please keep up the good work. I want to look at all of your videos on this subject.
I've wanted to make animations for years. Now I have a better idea of what to get. Thanks for sharing your knowledge to all those who want to create awesome props!
Cat, would you do me a huge favor? Could get a list of the rc motors you used along with the software and remote. Thank you in advance. You have inspired me. One day we might meet at one of haunt shows.
All the parts I used for making this skeleton (servos, controller, etc.) are listed in the description of this video: ruclips.net/video/Jk3ZsyrTU4M/видео.html All the software I used is in the description above (Helmsman and VSA) For more info on how I program my VSA routines, check out this video: ruclips.net/video/eh7ob9cQmfU/видео.html Hope this helps! I look forward to going to my first show someday! :)
Hi, In the video of the skeleton you made the program on trackskull and then put it into another software, in this case you only have to do the program in traksull and the in helsman pro or you u have you use 3 softwares? Because I want to buy trackskull so I want to know what other software I will need.
TrackSkull records the movements and exports those movements into VSA. VSA is the software that runs the full show. Helmsman is helpful if you need to play more than one VSA routine (like if your full show is super long and you want to break it up into smaller shows or if you want to trigger certain shows to play using motion sensors, a remote control, etc.)

Hi. Does that equipment accept video output? I use director and dmx 421 and its great but doesn't have video option 😔

Awesome work! I will continue to follow since I will be making my own pirate scene this year and need lots of help. Lol keep up the good work
So proud of you Catherine ❤️
What do you do if you have more servos than “space” on the board? Can you “link” boards?
are you able to overlap the routines because im working on a character and wondering if i can program each movement seprately

@@CatsMenagerie Does anyone have a link showing how to do this?! PLEASE help. Thanks!!
Nice video!
I’ve been using Helmsman Pro for several years at Restless Souls Manor,
it’s awesome!
Keep up the good work

Loved it! Great job! I've always wanted to build animatronics and this really helps.

Waaaaaaay too long without a video Cat. Hope things are ok.
New video going up tomorrow!
Your videos are always really interesting and impressive!

hey Cat, great video's! Im currently learning Arduino, have you ever used it before?
Thanks! I’ve used Arduino for several of my projects. They’re pretty cool and let you do a lot of neat things!

What version of the VSA are you using?
I'm using Professional.
