The Shadowed Swamp Facade

- Hey, it’s Elizabeth - I was in charge of the Heffalumps and Woozles tunnel Cat and I built last year, and this year I did a solo project (Cat helped for 1 or 2 days). The whole thing took me 5 and a half weeks to complete and I built it at my grandmother’s house (thanks nana!)
The façade is meant to be an old abandoned shack somewhere in the swampy American south. A witch has taken up residence inside the dilapidated building and strange things have begun to happen around it at night.
I included a clip in the end of a 20-minute lightshow that will play on the façade every night during the week of Halloween. The show is comprised of various horror movie soundtracks, spooky ambience, and other audio that I put together in Garageband. I used Lightkey to program 4 dmx lights to change colors to this soundtrack and I’ll try to upload as much of the full show as I can in a separate video (depending on the mercy of the RUclips copyright gods).
I’m really happy with how the façade turned out, so I hope you’ll enjoy!

I swear half my desire to own a house is just to go 110% hard for halloween lmao
Watch this over and over working on my swamp shack and this is inspiring.
Sup Keith, Josh Kirk here, just found this girl's vlog and she is amazing, can't wait to see what you got going on this year. I thought about doing a witch shack and this would be a perfect inspiration. Take it easy brother!!!
Hi Cat. Is that Hollywood I hear calling. You are very talented to say the least. Thanks for sharing.
Phenomenal level of effort put into this project. So talented for such a young person, congratulations on your level of expertise.
Great job!
Beautiful work HFL!!
The wood grain texturing paint technique takes this to another level, great work!
Very creative ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Your shack turned out awesome! Thank you for including the link for the vines! I have subscribed. Thank you for sharing.
This is so cool. I’m going to attempt something very much like yours. I’m going to have to try to get clever with the design and try to make it so I can unbolt the sections for storage. Great job!!!
AMAZING. Absolutely amazing.

wow that is a lot of work, but I love it.
Awesome! You are so talented!
Thanks! :) -- Elizabeth
Hey could I use hot glue to put the foam onto the food or you reccomend the cap nails?
I've been binging your channel, absolutely phenomenal work!!!! May I ask what the wood texture roller thingy you used was?
Great job it's hard enough to make foam look like wood but thern to age it and the tin roof shows the real artistry. Your vines are really well done I use a lot of them in my haunt but I'm lazy so I go in the wood and cut down real ones that seem to grow everywhere in my area. I really enjoyed your video! Which do you like the most the build of the structure, the sculpting of the wood or the painting?
Elizabeth, you are a wonder! This may be a stupid question, but is it possible to weatherproof this for inclement weather outside?
That’s awesome! I would like to learn more about the lighting, music, and software used to run your light show. Do you have a video walking through it, or can you provide some details that may help out?
I'd like to make it with 2x2's to save weight. Are there any places I would have to use 2x4's? I can leave the 4x4 posts on the porch.
How did you attach the foam to the wood Frame?
WOW
You mentioned forced perspective, what was the size difference between the bottom row to top row?
I will now make a new build home, look like a haunted house using these techniques
What was that tool that you used on the grey to make it look like wood. That was a gamechanger!
It's called a Woodgraining tool. They're pretty cheap and you can get them at most home improvement stores or online. It was my first time using one and I was blown away with how well they work
